Desperate for immediate help picking out paint colors (I'm so not good at this and our builder wanted paint colors w/in days! Ahh!) for our walls, doors and shutters during our major (cozy "Irish Jig") cottage renovation, I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to find an interior decorator, even without running it by my husband first. (Uh, oh, could be trouble, but nope, keep reading, there's a happy ending!)
I looked up decorators in my area on houzz.com, left my name and number and got a call that same morning from Janelle Photopoulos at Fresh Nest Color and Design in Wakefield, RI.
She sensed my urgency, rearranged her own schedule and met me at the cottage the very next day. She spent 4+ hours listening to my ideas as well as incorporating her own. She was prompt, patient, professional, confident, patient, intelligent, pleasant, efficient, did I mention patient?, and thorough. She was very versed in many different paint manufacturers, had samples swatches of most, gave me little swatches of paints chosen and even ordered me larger swatches that showed up in the mail w/in days. She taught me about muddy colors and colors with too much saturation. And if that wasn't enough, she had a good sense of humor and was down to earth. Really? Really.
I wanted that peaceful, pastel, beachy feeling flowing from room to room. With Janelle's expertise, that's exactly what I/we got. Our lofty sun porch room has a cathedral ceiling. She suggested we that we paint the ceiling the same as the wall, who would've thunk? It's awesome, actually the whole house is now!
So, thanks to Janelle, she taught me 1. a few things about colors and paint 2. that interior decorators aren't just for Hollywood's famous. The extra bonus? Even my #1 husband of 28 years and counting, agrees that hiring Janelle saved us so much aggravation and that he too, loves all the wall, door and shutter colors! I would recommend her without any hesitation and would call her again in a heartbeat, actually, I already have!
