Janet and here team are consummate professionals that we've worked with in our Chicago showroom. Whether it's a carpet that we have in stock, or a specially designed piece, they are great advocates for their clients' needs and a pleasure to work with.

I have worked with Lynn Boutross at Blutter Shiff for 15 years. She has amazing design ideas, is a great problem solver and has valuable resources. She takes the time to know my style and what works for my design preferences and budget. She has decorated two homes for me and has overseen extensive remodeling of my kitchen and bathrooms. The results are fantastic and I have received rave reviews from family and friends. I have referred many friends to Lynn and they have all been pleased with her style and quality of work. Janet and the entire Blutter/Shiff team are amazing! When I purchased a large condo in a Chicago high-rise, I took on the task of gutting the entire place. Janet and her team lead the design, decoration, and execution of the project. They did everything from designing all rooms, getting the best partners to custom build cabinets and furniture, to making sure that everything was executed perfectly to their plan and budget. They quickly understood my vision and were able to help make the condo an incredible home. I can’t imagine doing any future project without Janet.

Lynn Boutross has been our designer for over 10 years and two houses. Both my husband and I find her a quick study of our eclectic tastes, mindful of our budget, knows when to push us our of our comfort zone for something fabulous and when to let our own creative juices fly. She has provided the following for our recent 2013 project: color consultation: Mrs. Boutross picked out every color in a $10,000 total repaint of a four story home including a dinning room with detailed wainscoting insets and ceiling paint. She helped refine our basic color pallet, took in consideration our existing furniture colors and artwork and used color smartly to soften the effects of some less desirable features of the home. floors: Mrs. Boutross worked with our flooring expert and our paint color pallet to pick the perfect new stain for 6,000 square feet of home space. She brilliantly was able to make the floor and staircase stain match which was tricky as they were made of different kinds of woods and picked up the stain differently. She tested several spots in strong light and in shade and mixed stains to get the exact color for which we were looking. I appreciated that she worked well with my floor expert. design: Mrs. Boutross was tasked with helping to find furniture for a dinning room, a formal sitting room, an office, bedrooms, kitchen and family room. She diagrammed spaces presenting several options based on our function of the room and what would be aesthetically pleasing. She bought complete looks from floor to ceiling - rugs to lighting. Sometimes she created from inspiration photos we showed her and sometimes from her own ideas. She was always in consideration of our budget and time. She always caught the gist of our ideas and then took them to the next level of simply beautiful and functional. art: Mrs. Boutross has helped select several items of art to enhance the design of the home and round out the architectural interest built into the home. general consultation: as with all new homes there is a lot to cover within a budget. She was able to come before any work was done on the home and evaluate what was priority and/or high impact and what was not. This was of great help. Even down to details such as having a wall of mirrors removed from the home gym which at first we didn't see the need but when removal was completed and fresh paint went up - she was absolutely right. It takes a designers eye to see such things.

Not only is the design firm of Blutter/Shiff utterly professional, honest and trustworthy in every and all aspects, it is an honor to be working with Janet Shiff and her partners. The work is always beautifully orchestrated and done in a timely fashion. Budgets are discussed and stayed within. I have worked with Janet on three completely different homes and she has brought out the unique qualities of each of these very diverse locations. During this process we have also become very dear friends. What more can one ask for?

Janet Shiff and her phenomenal team turned our dreams of a new kitchen and family room wall furniture into the reality we could not envisioned for ourselves. From the moment we met with Janet in our space until the project was completed, on time and budget, she turned our conversations into an elegant kitchen that is also the most efficient space possible. Every detail was well considered, and Janet and her staff oversaw the project in a way that made even the dust interesting. She also designed a wall of furniture for our family room, giving us elements of beauty and functionality that married well the other pieces surrounding it. The moment the project was finished and we moved back into the spaces, they looked as if they had always been there and truly reflected our style.

BlutterShiff is a very professional full service design firm. Their design work and Knowledge is very comprehensive. They understand the client focus and gather product and information to present a wonderful completed project for their client. Always sensitive to the client's taste, won't push their own ideas on the client. Very experienced, lots of suggestions. They "babysit" every project & always are on top of the agreed upon schedule. An excellent network of suppliers, tradesmen, resources. Any problems are addressed immediately & resolved. Blutter Shiff in my opinion & experience with them is top of the line. Have worked with them on more than one project, beginning 2002 & forward.
