Brenda Motter Design is exactly that: all the personal care to detail, budget awareness, and artistic expertise one could hope for in a home build/renovation (or as a commercial visionary–because after the home build I couldn’t imagine bringing a space to life without Brenda’s vision). Brenda and her team helped us craft our ‘home’ out of a skeleton frame architecturally designed. After meeting and reviewing some previous projects we were convinced Brenda was the expert for our home build but we did not expect the wonderful partnership and ultimate friendship to come out of the experience. Brenda has a wonderful network of exceptionally skilled trades, from custom cabinetry flooring/tiling installation to unique lighting fixture production, and affordable and top-rate crafted furniture solutions. Though we have only built one custom home, we now understand that architects do not always think practically. After starting to work with Brenda it became so eminently clear we should have involved Brenda Motter Design earlier in the process of designing our timber and stone rural home much earlier. One of Brenda’s biggest strengths is proportions and functionality. Brenda, on several occasions produced cross-section and plan views via AutoCAD to demonstrate ‘walkability’ throughout the home; when considering furniture purchases her layouts ensured decisions were going to be practicality on point. And remarkably Brenda meshed all the varied design ideas brought forth into a cohesive and aesthetically beautiful home (a challenge when the client appreciates so many movements of design). Brenda always accounted for the budget so every dollar was effectively spent, considering each detail whether it be a $50 add-on or a $200,000 custom built-in. Minor blemishes in installation did not go overlooked and often disturbed Brenda more than us–she always ensured the work was up to snuff. Brenda was regularly on-site at all the right timed installation events and constantly ensured hitting timelines went smoothly. If there was a chance to clone Brenda Motter Design and we had reason to create a space again, we would be so lucky to work with her again! Brenda gets a 20/10 for everything she did for us and more

Brenda is a thoughtful and talented designer who gets to know her clients on a personal level. She takes the time to understand your style and vision and delivers every time! She is patient and incredibly creative and will help you down to the finest detail. She has helped transform our space in to a place we love coming home to. With a vision in mind to lighten up our living space she helped us find a new paint color for the entire house, renovated our living room with freshly painted millwork and new stone around the fireplace, added panelling to the dining room, front entrance and master bedroom, found a beautiful new dining table and customized a coffee table and accent table for the living room as well as customized window coverings. She even had a beautiful sideboard refinished in her shop for us. She has helped with many other small projects as well which we have been grateful for. We would highly recommend Brenda for any design needs. She is the best we have worked with hands down out of all the designers who have helped us in our last three homes. Thank you Brenda!

We worked together with Brenda to make our Dream Kitchen come true. We chose to remain living in our home during renovations; this brought a whole set of considerations that don’t have to be dealt with during a new home project. Brenda went through our wish list/must haves and designed a layout that far exceeded our expectations. She added details to include functionality that we would not have thought of on our own. Brenda was able to incorporate high-end features while keeping within a realistic budget. All of the trades that Brenda contracted were very respectful of our time and property. I approached Brenda based on the reviews I read online. I didn’t know what to expect when she came to see our house, she’s down to earth, so approachable and extremely nice. I had to develop my basement and she did a fantastic job from the initial plans to choosing colors, light fixtures, accessories, suggesting furniture, artwork etc. Her selections and suggestions were spot on, like if she read our mind. She worked with our budget, made recommendations, and the final product is amazing. Everybody compliments our new basement, I want the rest of the house to look like it now. I highly recommend her, and I’d love to continue working with her in our future projects. Brenda provided great insight in all aspects of my renovation. She helped with paint colours, cabinet handles, furniture, decor, and more. She was willing to come to my home and look at samples I liked and provide her professional opinion. She transformed my home from a crowded mismatch home to a minimalist industrial inspired home. I worked with Brenda throughout my home build, from framing to interior staging. She was wonderful to work with, very resourceful, detailed, organized, and conscientious to both style and budget. I couldn’t have and wouldn’t have wanted to do it without her and would recommend her again and again.

We approached Brenda during the design stage of our timber frame home for help with the lighting design as well as kitchen and bathroom lay-outs. From there the project scope kept growing to include hardware, tiling and flooring choices and the majority of the cabinetry and furniture, both built in and freestanding. I really enjoyed working with Brenda throughout the duration of the project. She worked really well with the suggestions we provided (after spending many hours browsing pictures on Houzz) and incorporated most of them in her designs. In areas where we had less input she came with great suggestions that fitted our taste and the style of the house very well. The cabinetry and furniture she built for us are beautiful and high quality and blend perfectly with the rest of the house. Her enthusiasm throughout the project and her professionalism dealing with setbacks in our furniture orders were very much appreciated and kept the project fun for us. I would highly recommend Brenda for any interior design project, big or small.

Brenda was amazing helping us take our dreams to reality. Our home is stunning, and is exactly what we wanted. She especially focused on the kitchen, where we cook family meals for the 6 of us and entertain often. It's perfect!
