About Us

Alison Cahlin, of Cahlin Design Group, considers one of her greatest strengths to be the ability to interpret a clients desires and transform spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but that evoke emotion in its most desired form. "I approach every project as a blank canvas," she says "and I always begin with the bones, the foundation, and pure vision. The architecture or lack thereof is the key. I like spaces to sparkle, to use metals that provide a little jewelry, colors to convey a mood and textures for the touch." For Cahlin, good design is easy when cost is not an object. The real challenge she says, "comes in providing creative, unique yet practical design while being sensitive to the client's specified needs, goals and budget." Cahlin, a licensed interior designer and ASID member, brings clients a combination of passion, experience, creativity, and outstanding personal service. Formerly a partner with Male Cahlin Design, Cahlin has established her own company, Cahlin Design Group in Coconut Grove, Florida. Cahlin and her professional team work closely with clients from a project's inception to completion. They remain involved with every aspect of the detail from the origination of drawings to all design selections and specifications, hiring contractors and project supervision. Cahlin's portfolio primarily includes high-end residences and vacation homes but she also has years of experience specializing in boutique commercial projects.

Alison Cahlin was hired as my Interior Designer for a new house we are building. The house is a 5 bedroom/ 5 and a half bathroom, and 4,500 square feet. She was instrumental in designing the overall interior spaces of the house, as well as all the details, including tiles. cabinets, kitchen counters, lights, hardware, etc. Alison is a consummate professional! She has a keen sense of style as well as a handful of excellent contacts. As the owner, she listened to my ideas and concerns, willing to work together to put out a great finished project. Alison was never too busy to answer my texts or emails (even when she was on vacation!!!). I would highly recommend Alison Cahlin to anyone who needs s professional, caring and brilliant Interior Designer!

What a terrific experience we had working w/Alison Cahlin! She listened to our needs and desires and developed a plan that exceeded our expectations! She is flexible, adapting as needed. We had a tight time frame as we were moving quickly from one state to another and she jumped in, stayed focussed and met our deadline. After we moved in she followed up and continued to make sure everything was done just right, ( including choosing the right accessories) to our satisfaction. She turned our apartment into a beautiful home! Alison is extremely talented and we would use her again for any of our design needs.

SIMPLY AMAZING! Alison has an incredible eye and is extremely knowledgable in every aspect of interior design. I gave her simple screen shots from Google for my new house in Coconut Grove and she understood everything we were going for and ran with it! I also work from home and she was able to turn our basement into a complete 'Zen Den'. So happy with how it all turned out and she really helped create a beautiful, eclectic and comfortable living and work space! I recommend Cahlin Design Group to anyone and everyone. Working with Alison has been such a pleasure. She had a great sense for what I was looking for and picked out many unique items that fit perfectly in my apartment. She opened my mind to pieces that I would never even consider. I ended up buying them, and I am so happy with the way my apartment looks! Shopping and working with Alison is almost like receiving an education in design. After shopping with her at a few showrooms, I learned how to use accent colors and mix and match different accessories. My living room used to look so boring, and with a new rug, coffee table, and throw pillows, my apartment feels completely different. She completely changed my perspective on how to shop for home décor, and I will certainly use this in the future. Also, her enthusiasm and positivity made a process I thought would be tedious so much fun! I am so grateful for her help and the way she has made me feel so comfortable in my new apartment.

As a State licensed Building Contractor for over 27 years, I have worked with many Designers, however I consider Alison to be one of the best. Alison and her team did an amazing job of designing our home in Miami Beach, FL. She listened to our wants and needs and really took the time to understand our vision. Early on, we focused primarily on the living and dining room areas. We were floored by her talent and comfortable letting her take the reigns on the rest of the house. She did not disappoint! Even now that our home is finished, I can count on her for a little advice here and there. She is so professional and always communicates exceptionally well. I always knew where we were in the design process. She always delivered on time and her support staff were complete professionals. From start to finish, the process was so enjoyable. We love our home and thank Alison for creating such a warm inviting space for my family and guests. We always get compliments. I recommend her without hesitation!

We hired Alison Cahlin (previously with Male Cahlin Design) after seeing her exquisite work for a featured room in a Designer showcase home and knew she would be the right person to assist us in the architectural detail and interior design selections for our newly built custom designed Mediterranean style home. From the inception, Alison understood and shared our vision for the detailing, color palate, needs and functions of the space. She helped us shop for antiques and period pieces as we wanted the decor to reflect a blend of the old and new. She has a friendly and efficient follow through staff that was very professional and was always very sensitive to our budget. Her taste is impeccable and we continue to enjoy the timelessness of her design that was never trendy, but continues to feel current and comfortable after many years. We have called upon Alison on two other occasions, to help with the design of our North Carolina summer retreat and the furnishing of our son's apartment which she did quickly, effortlessly and within our budget. Again, her subs and crew performed as hoped for and we have enjoyed the fruits of her labor for the years that have followed. We are very fond of Alison after these wonderful experiences and have highly recommended her to many of our friends. We cannot think of another designer in the city that we would turn to should we decide to undergo another design project in the future. She is terrific!!
