Carl and The Wolf

We contracted with this designer in September 2020 to assist in the decoration of our custom build home with a focus on the living spaces and certain of the bedrooms and bathrooms. The total project cost was in the mid-to-upper five figures. As of this posting, approximately 20% of the project remains incomplete and the designer has not communicated with us since mid-January 2022. This is despite our repeated attempts to contact her via text, phone and social media. None of our messages over this time period were returned. The most significant and expensive outstanding item – a custom sectional sofa – was paid for in full in December 2020. The piece took an entire year to be completed after months of delays in production. When the sectional finally shipped to Florida in December 2021, it became significantly damaged during transit. The designer informed us of this news – that the most expensive and important item of our project that we had waited through months of delays to finally receive was significantly damaged – via a text message without any sense of empathy or apology. It has been nearly 6 months since we were informed of our damaged sofa – and yet we have received no further communication nor updates on a plan to remedy this situation. There is no other way to describe this experience other than to say that it feels as if we have been stolen from. Sadly, the above experience is only one example of what became a pattern of behavior throughout our project. On at least half a dozen occasions, Jillian became wholly unresponsive – often for weeks at a time. At each opportunity that we had to address these communication breakdowns directly with her, Jillian would acknowledge her lack of communication, give excuses and promise to be more responsive going forward. The cycle would then repeat over and again. I honestly struggle to imagine a scenario where someone could behave less professionally or with less regard for their client’s concerns or satisfaction. Working with this designer has been, by far, the worst experience of our entire building process.

I was so relieved to find Carl and The Wolf after an extensive search for a designer to remodel our historic St. Petersburg home. Jillian's style spoke to us immediately, and after an initial meeting, we hired her without hesitation. Jillian offers a wonderfully unique style that distinguishes her from other designers we researched in the area. She listened to both my husband and my ideas, and found neat ways to consolidate our somewhat different styles. Jillian was patient and flexible with our needs, and really took time to listen to what we wanted to achieve in our home. She was a pleasure to work with and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her design services. We are thrilled with how our home has turned out, and everybody who visits is highly complimentary of the design and furnishings throughout.

I hired Jill to design my living room after moving to Seattle and while expecting my first child. Jill took the time to understand my needs, helped to recommend and coordinate all the purchases needed, returned all of my calls and communication promptly, and did an amazing job in suggesting family-friendly modern options on a budget. Jillian was so easy and fun to work with! My husband and I are builders and Jillian is the first designer we have worked with. She has amazing vision and really helped us to come up with ideas that we didn't even think of. I have a very eclectic style and she has an impeccable way of pulling it all together and making it work. I still wish she was in Seattle because we are starting on another remodel. Luckily we can still do some work together remotely!

The use of materials, the elegant design and the brilliant staging show Jillian to be not only a talented designer, but one who shows great expertise in all aspects of the arts.
