YunChi Jong was born and raised in Taiwan- a hometown that nourishes freedom, curiosity and passion. After she earned her bachelor’s degree in Architecture from SCU in Taiwan, she moved to NYC for a master’s degree in Sustainable Interior Design in NYSID. As a professional who was trained under both subjects and has years of practice, YunChi created a strong portfolio by excelling at both space planning and interior furnishing. After 10 years of hard work in the industry, YunChi founded Chief Design LLC in 2021. Chief Design believes space can shape our everyday life - it has tremendous power. YunChi Jong of Chief design is an incredibly talented designer. Smart, efficient, flexible. This the second time my husband and I have had the good fortune of working with her. I can't imagine doing our most recent renovation without her expertise, and would never want to do another without her. YunChi is full of ideas and solutions at any budget level, taking great personal pride in all her projects. I can't say enough kind words about her skill, sharp eye, and boundless work ethic. I met Chi while working at another firm together and have continued to use her as a phenomenal design resource and consultant on projects I work on. Chi has a very positive can do attitude, with the ability to look at a space and project from literally all angles. This allows her to examine all the possible uses of a space, sometimes in ways that other designers can't see. She has a natural eye for sourcing furniture and materials that compliment one another and bring intrigue to a space. Mixing textures, design styles, and interesting color combinations brings the spaces she designs to life. She is hard working, honest, and a true professional. I highly recommend Chi!

Working with Chi was an absolute pleasure! She was responsive, friendly and truly understood my vision for my home. Chi made the entire process of design, sourcing, etc. seamless and one of the most enjoyable parts of moving into my new home. I partnered with Chi for three projects over the past few years: updating the space in my original Brooklyn brownstone, decorating my home in LI and designing the outside space of my LI yard. She was professional and creative during each project. I look forward to working with her again on my next project-the basement!

Chi is fantastic to work with! We've worked with her a couple times on our apartment in New York. She collaborated with us to renovate our bathroom and to take care of a million other things (e.g., painting, re-staining floors, kitchen tiling). Chi does a fantastic job of providing design input & options, taking our initial input & running with it in a fantastic way. A few years ago, we reached out to Yun-Chi for the design of an awkward room in our house. The room was not too big (about 300 sqft) and the floor wasn't even - 30% of the room was half-a-step higher than the rest of the room as the previous owner raised some floors for some cabinets, and we decided to keep it that way to reduce the cost. Our requirements were also ambiguous at the beginning as we weren't sure about the purposes of the room. We didn't have a high expectation at all for that room when we reached Yun-chi, as the uneven floor seemed to be a bad setting that was impossible to fix. Not only did Yun-chi quickly identify that we could make the room two separate spaces (which we've never thought about!), she also helped us think through our requirements and identified the best way to use the room. Before working on the details, Yun-chi always provided us with a quick overview of her thoughts and rationales, which had saved us lots of money and time. We changed our requirements significantly a few times, but Yun-chi could always adapt to the change fast and give professional recommendations immediately. That room turned out to be our favorite and most used room in the house thanks to Yun-chi!
