Valerie was so helpful while we were renovating our Rio Verde house. She has excellent contacts in the valley and we were able to see products for our home quickly. We found Valerie on Houzz and she is the best designer we’ve worked with. Responsive, listens to what the client says, sources in a creative way, understands cost sensitivities and recognizes more expensive doesn’t always equate to more beautiful or the best fit. She helped us curate items for a house in Carefree and we could not be happier with her service. We have the perfect balance of some higher end items where it counts, like the comfy couch that looks great AND invites the nap scenario the husband envisioned, as well as some lesser expensive things that fill the need. We found Chimera Design right here on Houzz. We were in the midst of moving cross-country to a blank canvas, non-distinct home. We had a vision for renovations, so we wanted to find a designer who was willing to listen. Valerie worked with us long- distance as she got to know us and our design mood. She even visited our property before we arrived so that she could experience the space and begin putting together a project idea board. Working with Valerie was always productive. She knew our creative desires, so she always brought samples and presentations that put us right on track. Valerie gave us top-notch references for interior/exterior painter, flooring installation, AC/Heating maintenance, and other home service companies. This home is now full of life, character, color and dimension. We are thrilled with this design collaboration!

We used Chimera Design to help us with a renovation on our second residence in Scottsdale, AZ. Valerie and Fanny were wonderful. They designed, coordinated with the contractor, helped with moving our belongings out and back in, they installed the new furniture, rugs, art, window treatments — everything — all during the pandemic while we were mostly not in town! Valerie just takes charge and knows the right questions to ask the contractors and the right things to think about when making decisions. Chimera made what seemed like an overwhelming project very easy for us as clients! Worth every penny and then some!

We have used the services of Chimera Interior Design on three houses, at this point. The first two engagements were both for a significant portion of the interior design, but neither was a 100% project. Valerie was so helpful that for our newly purchased second home we decided that the third engagement should be for the entire house. Every thing that has been presented to us was very professional and we have found that the suggestions are coming from someone who fully appreciates our style preferences. She listens carefully. We have found her to be quite creative whenever necessary. She has also delivered high quality furniture to us at reasonable prices. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Valerie has been so helpful with furnishing our new house! The final design was flawless and timeless. She gave us much needed direction for arranging the awkward spaces in our house and provided a truly functional layout that is also beautiful! Plus she did it within our original budget! The designs are also presented beautifully as a digital layout and I was able to visualize the room before the furniture purchase!

Valerie is an amazing designer. Villagio has had the privilege of collaborating with he on many projects.These baths are in The Lodge historic building constructed in 1896. Her goal was to make the rooms current and comfortable while honoring the history of the property. The project won 2nd place in the ASID Design Excellence Awards for Historic Space. We contracted Valerie to completely remodel a dated 5,000 sq ft house into a clean lines contemporary style home. Valerie has stellar taste. She did the entire interior design; furniture selection, lighting, flooring, cabinetry, wall and window covering. During the process Valerie listened to our needs and wants, made great suggestions, was prompt at resolving issues and worked collaborative with our contractors throughout the process. Two years ago we bought a house larger than any one we have ever owned. We had most of the furniture and some decorations but it was not finished and did not feel like home. We have been fortunate to work with Chimera Interior Design for the last 10 years. Valerie and her team have a keen eye for design and never fail to select the perfect products for their clients. They conduct business with professionalism, quality, and attention to detail. Their work really speaks for itself!

Valerie managed and did the design for a remote remodel of our home. She was exceedingly professional and communicative throughout the entire process. The project was a complete remodel of two full bathrooms, interior redesign/painting which included structural work and opening up our great room, design and construction of an outdoor grill and seating area, new tile work, sink, and backsplash in the kitchen, as well as new lighting and unobtrusive electrical changes throughout, finally we added a new fireplace mantle and updates to the interior of the home. Valerie worked closely with the contractor to make everything happen. We love the entire design, and the post-renovation feeling of the house is greatly improved. Things that needed to be removed were taken out, and everything from the structural changes to small details (like cabinet hardware) look seamless. The bathroom turned out beautifully with floor to ceiling glass, spa-like atmosphere, a beautiful vanity tower, and great hardware. We found her attention to detail and resourcefulness refreshing; as an example, we had extra granite from the bathrooms, Valerie found a way to add a stellar granite counter to the outdoor grill - and did so with the entire project still coming in under budget! We loved working with Valerie and would certainly work with her in the future.

I experienced a truly gifted designer in Valerie. I had the feeling she understood what I wanted better than I did. I bought a condo and had her pick the wall colors, enlarge a bathroom, and picked out window treatments and beautiful lighting fixtures, and decided on furniture. This job was done efficiently and did not run over budget. She has great taste and that special quality to design with a deep understanding of what the client will enjoy.

Valerie at Chimera Design did an amazing job designing our master bathroom, powder room and patio/BBQ area. Her endless creativity and knowledge about the various materials used was refreshing. At one point mid construction in our master bathroom we had to completely change tiles as the ones picked were not going to work., Valerie found an even better tile in no time that worked fabulously and looks great. In addition to her great design skills Valerie was also very accessible. I could call her at any moment if I thought something was not on track or going as planned! Our friends and family are "wowed" by our 3 big projects. Can't wait to do more with Chimera soon!

Valery design for me, my remodeled new home: from the color of the paint, the floor tile, lighting, build in wall unite, design the layout of family and living room, some new furniture pieces ware added, and she helped with the choices. Valerie Borden of Chimera Interior Design remodeled my kitchen, living room, bedrooms and bath. Being a single male, I never considered using a designer, until a friend recommended that I meet with her to discuss options available to me. I never realized what a valuable resource a professional interior designer was. She did a great deal of research to provide me with multiple options regarding each of the spaces that were remodeled. She has an amazing eye for detail, showing me that even small things, such as a cabinet knob or how the placement of a light can make a huge difference in the look and feel of my home. She routinely oversaw each phase of the construction. She is truly gifted. I'm still stunned by my friends reactions when they see the finished product. I have recommended Valerie to many of my friends and will continue to do so.

I've consulted with Valerie three different times.... once for a huge project--- all the window coverings for my home and twice for help with placement of paintings and other objects. My home has 28 windows with many different sizes and varying ceiling heights. The house has an open floor plan which means that one can see formal and informal rooms simultaneously. All of these points had to be taken into consideration. Valerie made dramatic but practical recommendations and the results are gorgeous. I did some CAD work for this design firm in 08' on a finished kitchen. The designer needed to have elevations of a modern kitchen redrafted for her records. She works very fast and is always on time.
