We met Christen at a AIA Home Tour and immediately loved her work. Our project was unique in that it was a condo unit still under construction, which was different than the majority of her other projects. Throughout the entire process of furniture planning, finish out selections and styling, Christen offered guidance and recommendations that made our space feel stylish, timeless, functional, but also unique to us. Christen provide referrals for a contractor and an art advisor and both could not have been better. We are so pleased with how our space turned out and would recommend Christen to family and friends.

I had a wonderful experience working with Christen. My previous designer who moved recommended her and I am so glad she did. What I loved was her aesthetic, her honesty and beautiful design sense. She did a killer job in my master bedroom. High high highly reccomended!

Christen came highly recommended so I was expecting a lot and boy she really delivered! The entire process, from evaluating the space and then chatting about what I wanted, how to execute and even down to selecting pieces and buying was really fun and easy. Christen gave me lots of options and I never felt pressured to buy one thing over another, and there was healthy back and forth over a number of the pieces until we got what was just right. Sometimes I think about if I could have made my space as nice as it is without a designer and that answer is NO WAY. I might have gotten one or two pieces right, but the way my rooms fit together, subtle details in matching select pieces, and curating an entire feel is what I can’t do, and it what Christen nailed. I love the way my house looks, and I love it when I get compliments on "my taste". Anyone looking for interior design direction should look to Christen because she's the best.

I would highly recommend Christen Ales, whether you know exactly what you want or in my case, not quite sure what you're looking for. Once I saw her work and we had our first meeting, I knew this was the right interior designer for me. She has great ideas and was able to bring a fresh contemporary look to my 1950's ranch. She's so knowledgeable, always ready to provide options and answer questions. One of the best things for me was her ability to work directly with the contractors, answering their questions and helping to resolve last minute design changes. Christen will be the first person I call when I'm ready for my next interior design project.

We hired Christen to help us re-imagine our outdated and dysfunctional kitchen and living space. The results have truly changed the way we live in our house for the better. The breakfast nook is our family's new favorite hang out and the kitchen feels huge, allowing both my husband and I to actually move and work in there at the same time. The space is absolutely beautiful and the profound changes were actually achieved with very few costly structural changes. My husband and I hired Christen Ales Interior Design to work with us on the remodel and expansion of our 1938 home. I had researched designers online and greatly admired her portfolio- I found she does great work with neutrals or a colorful palette depending on clients' preferences. For our project, I knew I wanted to go out of my comfort zone toward a bright and colorful home, but needed professional help to get there. Through email and Wecora, Christen began sending us ideas and pricing. As we made selections, we could see each room coming together. A couple of times, I thought perhaps the choices were too bold, but I'm glad I talked with Christen about them and trusted her instinct. The final result is a home more beautiful than I could have ever imagined when we started out. A few things I appreciate about Christen's style and professionalism: - She is knowledgeable about trends but doesn't carried away by them. I feel like the style in our home will hold over many, many years. - She is knowledgeable about products at all different price points. I found that she can work within a budget and also guide you towards where it might be worth it to splurge. - Her designs feel livable. We have two kids under 4, so we can't have one of those homes that feel like a museum. Our home is our home, some days its a mess, but when we tidy up, it looks great!

Christen is fantastic. When I moved into my new home with zero furniture, I didn't know where to start. She was able to work within my budget to find pieces that absolutely nailed my style. Everything came together beautifully thanks to Christen. Highly recommend!

Christen Ales is an AMAZING designer - I was initially drawn to her beautiful portfolio, which definitely speaks for itself. But then I got to know her, and her warm, friendly personality makes me love her even more! Christen is a delight and her work has far exceeded my expectations. I contacted many companies with a goal in mind - I had a good foundation, but was stuck pulling things together and decorating an oddly shaped space. With each conversation I tried to underscore my preferred aesthetic and expectations (I have a dog, a toddler and a baby on the way!) - velvet was not in my future. Each company failed on delivering, until Christen. We’re still in the process of working together - building on our original plans because, we’ll shes just that good! I can’t say enough great things about the quality of her work and Christen’s ability to listen (and fulfill) to what her customers want.

We hired Christen Ales to help us select finishes for a new build. The builder’s designer had pre-selected all of the finishes, but Christen helped us transform boring builder-grade selections into design choices that reflected our personality and taste. Christen helped us select tile, countertops, flooring, light fixtures, paint, and hardware. These choices had a major impact on overall feel of the home. After the home was built, she helped with furniture selections. It is so easy to work with her because she gives as much or as little input as you need. On some items, we asked for more substantial help. For example, we asked her to source a coffee table, rug, dining chairs, and nightstands. But on other items, we simply asked for feedback about selections we had already made. Her selections were spot-on, and having her review our own choices helped steer us in the right direction, and gave us confidence to make smart design decisions. She’s super knowledgeable and conscientious with her suggestions, especially when it comes to staying on budget. The great thing about Christen is she has a great eye for color and scale. Simply put, she has good taste! She’s also super responsive. She returns emails/texts very quickly. Her responsiveness is very important because it can be tempting to make impulse design purchases. I highly recommend working with Christen, whether it be a major remodel or new construction, or just a room redesign. She’ll make it beautiful!

I had a great time working with Christen. She was such a big help in make the massive amount of design decisions on my project manageable. Her input was essential in getting material purchased in a timely manner, and I really felt like she understood my vision and helped me carry it out. Having to choose so many things like cabinets, countertops, flooring, shower tile, wall color, door levers, landscaping materials...can be overwhelming. So I appreciate that she has a great ability to use her creative talents while sticking to my budgets. We worked on a single family new construction spec home together and I plan on hiring her again for my future projects.

Christen is both a great designer and collaborator. We worked with her on our custom home and she helped us choose innovative ideas to set our home apart. She understood my specific vision for the home and helped me implement it through sourcing materials and labor for us. I enjoyed working with her because she's laid-back and dependable. She was intuitive about being on the same page as us and that's priceless when we customized it from top to bottom. (We even measured shampoo bottles for our shower shelves!) As a collaborator, she has such great taste and it was fun working with her to build her vision for the airbnb that I helped style. She enhanced the space by picking out great furniture pieces that anchored the space to give it an identity. She's able to combine multiple styles and offers great customer service to the client. I know the customer was pleased and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to work with her both as a colleague and client. It's been a real pleasure!

She'll take you through the process and help you figure it out. She's so good in fact, after she did my house, I hired her to do my apartment on a remote location basis.

Christen's assistance throughout our remodeling project was invaluable. We found her to be creative, detail oriented, organized, patient, and professional.

From my perspective as a contractor, I had a great first experience working with Christen Ales Interior Design. Her firm was hired by our out-of-town clients to specify design changes to a five unit fraternity property; I was already the GC. This project included four complete kitchen remodels, a complete (prototype) bathroom remodel, new paint palettes throughout, flooring throughout, and new modern light and fan fixtures. We executed all this in ten days (very, very tight), and her finished designs got rave reviews from the clients, old and new tenants, and member families on move-in day. Throughout the job, Christen was a strong ally and took initiative to get things done. This particular project was bounded by time and certain product and material requirements that made it unusually challenging. Christen met these challenges with me to project completion and after. She is professional but personable, responsive by phone and email, positive and patient with no complaining (this is rare), detailed, and flexible with her design and dealings with the cast of client personalities. Christen Ales is one of the best communicators I’ve ever worked with in the trades and in past academic and corporate environments. She is on a pretty short list of people with whom I actually like to work and would recommend.
