Christen Ales Interiors

Christen’s work shows a wonderful understanding and daring use of color. I had some pieces that I wanted to use that were colorful and challenging. She made it all work, it is colorful but also elegant and interesting. I had dreaded the ordeal of dealing with lots of fabric books and choices, but she made it fun! She encouraged where needed and gave sound advice, so that I felt the result truly portrayed our style. A wonderful experience! Thanks Christen!

Christen is always a pleasure to work with! We have worked on several projects together over the years, including a few commercial projects at my events venue Barr Mansion - and I love how everything has turned out! She has great ideas and gets me to think outside the box in terms of design. I appreciate her attention to detail, and how easy she is to work with. Thank you Christen!

Very organized and extremely helpful. Thanks Christen for all the help. I am excited to have a nicer rug in my living room.

We met Christen at a AIA Home Tour and immediately loved her work. Our project was unique in that it was a condo unit still under construction, which was different than the majority of her other projects. Throughout the entire process of furniture planning, finish out selections and styling, Christen offered guidance and recommendations that made our space feel stylish, timeless, functional, but also unique to us. Christen provide referrals for a contractor and an art advisor and both could not have been better. We are so pleased with how our space turned out and would recommend Christen to family and friends.

I had a wonderful experience working with Christen. My previous designer who moved recommended her and I am so glad she did. What I loved was her aesthetic, her honesty and beautiful design sense. She did a killer job in my master bedroom. High high highly reccomended!

I have worked with Christen on several projects over the years and she ALWAYS does a phenomenal job! She's my first call when it comes to interior design.

Christen came highly recommended so I was expecting a lot and boy she really delivered! The entire process, from evaluating the space and then chatting about what I wanted, how to execute and even down to selecting pieces and buying was really fun and easy. Christen gave me lots of options and I never felt pressured to buy one thing over another, and there was healthy back and forth over a number of the pieces until we got what was just right. Sometimes I think about if I could have made my space as nice as it is without a designer and that answer is NO WAY. I might have gotten one or two pieces right, but the way my rooms fit together, subtle details in matching select pieces, and curating an entire feel is what I can’t do, and it what Christen nailed. I love the way my house looks, and I love it when I get compliments on "my taste". Anyone looking for interior design direction should look to Christen because she's the best.

I would highly recommend Christen Ales, whether you know exactly what you want or in my case, not quite sure what you're looking for. Once I saw her work and we had our first meeting, I knew this was the right interior designer for me. She has great ideas and was able to bring a fresh contemporary look to my 1950's ranch. She's so knowledgeable, always ready to provide options and answer questions. One of the best things for me was her ability to work directly with the contractors, answering their questions and helping to resolve last minute design changes. Christen will be the first person I call when I'm ready for my next interior design project.

My wife and I had a great experience working with Christen on our remodel. Great design and more importantly great customer service. We would highly recommend Christen to anybody who is looking for an interior designer!

I highly recommended Christen Ales! Our project (bathroom and laundry room) turned out beautiful and Christen was a pleasure to work with. She guided us through the process every step of the way with such care and attention. She impressed me with her taste and creativity, and I look forward to working with her for future projects.

We hired Christen to help us re-imagine our outdated and dysfunctional kitchen and living space. The results have truly changed the way we live in our house for the better. The breakfast nook is our family's new favorite hang out and the kitchen feels huge, allowing both my husband and I to actually move and work in there at the same time. The space is absolutely beautiful and the profound changes were actually achieved with very few costly structural changes. Christen was also able to source materials that would work for a variety of budgets and she navigated the line of "on trend " and timelessness with grace and expertise. We would definitely hire her again.

My husband and I hired Christen Ales Interior Design to work with us on the remodel and expansion of our 1938 home. I had researched designers online and greatly admired her portfolio- I found she does great work with neutrals or a colorful palette depending on clients' preferences. For our project, I knew I wanted to go out of my comfort zone toward a bright and colorful home, but needed professional help to get there. Through email and Wecora, Christen began sending us ideas and pricing. As we made selections, we could see each room coming together. A couple of times, I thought perhaps the choices were too bold, but I'm glad I talked with Christen about them and trusted her instinct. The final result is a home more beautiful than I could have ever imagined when we started out. A few things I appreciate about Christen's style and professionalism: - She is knowledgeable about trends but doesn't carried away by them. I feel like the style in our home will hold over many, many years. - She is knowledgeable about products at all different price points. I found that she can work within a budget and also guide you towards where it might be worth it to splurge. - Her designs feel livable. We have two kids under 4, so we can't have one of those homes that feel like a museum. Our home is our home, some days its a mess, but when we tidy up, it looks great!

Christen is fantastic. When I moved into my new home with zero furniture, I didn't know where to start. She was able to work within my budget to find pieces that absolutely nailed my style. Everything came together beautifully thanks to Christen. Highly recommend!

We worked with Christen on a recent renovation and remodel and were AMAZED at the results! She helped us from start to finish and transformed an outdated 70's looking home into a sleek, modern masterpiece! She is incredibly easy to work with and truly understands your vision. I would highly recommend working with her!

Christen Ales is an AMAZING designer - I was initially drawn to her beautiful portfolio, which definitely speaks for itself. But then I got to know her, and her warm, friendly personality makes me love her even more! She immediately had great ideas to turn our house renovation project into something better than I was envisioning... and she was always very responsive and quick with deadlines, which was something very important to me. I can't wait to work with her again on another project! She's the best!!

Christen brought me on to provide art advisory services for her client and is amazing to work with. She communicated in a clear way about her overall thoughts on how the art could play into the design aesthetic of the home while encouraging me to present options that were personally meaningful to the client as well. The end result is a beautiful home completely tailored to the client, and they couldn't be happier. I look forward to working with Christen again!

Christen's enthusiasm, talent and passion were a wonderful addition to the Laurelwood Project we worked on together. Of course, having worked with her on past projects, we knew this would be the case. She brings a unique 'eye' to the Austin design scene that we love seeing in our projects!

Christen is a delight and her work has far exceeded my expectations. I contacted many companies with a goal in mind - I had a good foundation, but was stuck pulling things together and decorating an oddly shaped space. With each conversation I tried to underscore my preferred aesthetic and expectations (I have a dog, a toddler and a baby on the way!) - velvet was not in my future. Each company failed on delivering, until Christen. We’re still in the process of working together - building on our original plans because, we’ll shes just that good! I can’t say enough great things about the quality of her work and Christen’s ability to listen (and fulfill) to what her customers want.

We hired Christen Ales to help us select finishes for a new build. The builder’s designer had pre-selected all of the finishes, but Christen helped us transform boring builder-grade selections into design choices that reflected our personality and taste. Christen helped us select tile, countertops, flooring, light fixtures, paint, and hardware. These choices had a major impact on overall feel of the home. After the home was built, she helped with furniture selections. It is so easy to work with her because she gives as much or as little input as you need. On some items, we asked for more substantial help. For example, we asked her to source a coffee table, rug, dining chairs, and nightstands. But on other items, we simply asked for feedback about selections we had already made. Her selections were spot-on, and having her review our own choices helped steer us in the right direction, and gave us confidence to make smart design decisions. She’s super knowledgeable and conscientious with her suggestions, especially when it comes to staying on budget. The great thing about Christen is she has a great eye for color and scale. Simply put, she has good taste! She’s also super responsive. She returns emails/texts very quickly. Her responsiveness is very important because it can be tempting to make impulse design purchases. I highly recommend working with Christen, whether it be a major remodel or new construction, or just a room redesign. She’ll make it beautiful!

I had a great time working with Christen. She was such a big help in make the massive amount of design decisions on my project manageable. Her input was essential in getting material purchased in a timely manner, and I really felt like she understood my vision and helped me carry it out. Having to choose so many things like cabinets, countertops, flooring, shower tile, wall color, door levers, landscaping materials...can be overwhelming. So I appreciate that she has a great ability to use her creative talents while sticking to my budgets. We worked on a single family new construction spec home together and I plan on hiring her again for my future projects.

We hired Christen to update the primary living spaces in our home. She did an excellent job listening to our ideas for the home and was able to bring them to life with her brilliant feel for space, color, texture and pattern. Christen was a great communicator throughout the process and made the selection process easy by providing several options. We would highly recommend Christen to anyone looking to refresh their living space.

I was referred to Christen Ales through a friend and we could not be happier with our remodel. She transformed our rooms and gave them style and a face lift that made them lighter, brighter and beautiful! And every room is so warm, inviting and comfortable for our family. She listened, helped assess our needs and steered us in the right direction when helping us choose our new flooring, furniture, counters, lighting, paint and tile. Our original interior finishes were nice but lacked personality- not anymore- now it is a unique and stunning transformation. We are just so happy to sit in our living room and look around at our stylish surroundings. (And all my friends that come over ask me for her contact info.) Christen is also conscious of budgets and absolutely made the most of ours and was very responsive and available when I had questions. I hope you have the chance to work with her- she is amazing.

Christen is both a great designer and collaborator. We worked with her on our custom home and she helped us choose innovative ideas to set our home apart. She understood my specific vision for the home and helped me implement it through sourcing materials and labor for us. I enjoyed working with her because she's laid-back and dependable. She was intuitive about being on the same page as us and that's priceless when we customized it from top to bottom. (We even measured shampoo bottles for our shower shelves!) As a collaborator, she has such great taste and it was fun working with her to build her vision for the airbnb that I helped style. She enhanced the space by picking out great furniture pieces that anchored the space to give it an identity. She's able to combine multiple styles and offers great customer service to the client. I know the customer was pleased and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to work with her both as a colleague and client. It's been a real pleasure!

Christen Ales does fantastic work. She is on time, on budget, and able to bring your vision to life. If you're not sure exactly what you want, don't worry. She'll take you through the process and help you figure it out. She's so good in fact, after she did my house, I hired her to do my apartment on a remote location basis.

Christen has an impeccable eye for design. She helped me find the perfect balance of functional design but with a modern sophistication that was perfect for our home. I love that she really listened to my needs and our communication throughout the entire process was seamless. It's so nice to see her getting recognized on a national level for her amazing talent! I'll continue to recommend her and use her for future projects.

We loved working with Christen. Her ideas and suggestions were spot on, and she was a huge help to us!!

From start to finish, Christen was an incredible asset to the whole project. We brought her on board before the remodel was started to work with our builder and architect. Christen kept us on budget and pulled all our team together. The design is beautiful and works well for our family. Strongly recommend her!

Christen Ales was recommended to us by our building contractor, The Muskin Company to work with us on a significant remodel/addition to our home. She worked with us on choosing colors, fixtures, lighting and textures. Christen met with us initially to determine our style, color, and design preferences and always kept these in mind in making suggestions and offering alternatives. She always seemed to know the right questions to ask. Christen is continuing to help us choose window treatments and furniture. The outcome is a beautiful, updated home. We couldn't be more pleased.

My husband and I relocated to Austin in July. I asked my realtor for a recommendation for an interior decorator and thankfully she recommended Christen Ales to us. We have moved several times in our 26 years of married life however I have never used a decorator. I was a bit nervous but Christen was indispensable to us moving from up North to here in Austin. She was professional, pleasant, had great taste and great recommendations for us. Bottom line lifesaver - we just loved working with her and the way it all turned out!

Christen has helped me decorate several rooms in my home. From my son's nursery to our living room. I have been pleased with everything we've purchased. She's great at hearing our desires especially with a two year old, where durable fabrics are a must and things are easy to clean. She has also helped my husband and I merge our styles with ease.

Our home remodeling contractor recommended Christen Ales Interior Design to us. We worked with Christen regularly from August, 2013 through February, 2014. Christen's assistance throughout our remodeling project was invaluable. We found her to be creative, detail oriented, organized, patient, and professional.

From my perspective as a contractor, I had a great first experience working with Christen Ales Interior Design. Her firm was hired by our out-of-town clients to specify design changes to a five unit fraternity property; I was already the GC. This project included four complete kitchen remodels, a complete (prototype) bathroom remodel, new paint palettes throughout, flooring throughout, and new modern light and fan fixtures. We executed all this in ten days (very, very tight), and her finished designs got rave reviews from the clients, old and new tenants, and member families on move-in day. Throughout the job, Christen was a strong ally and took initiative to get things done. This particular project was bounded by time and certain product and material requirements that made it unusually challenging. Christen met these challenges with me to project completion and after. She is professional but personable, responsive by phone and email, positive and patient with no complaining (this is rare), detailed, and flexible with her design and dealings with the cast of client personalities. Christen Ales is one of the best communicators I’ve ever worked with in the trades and in past academic and corporate environments. She is on a pretty short list of people with whom I actually like to work and would recommend.

We are a local home building company and have utilized Christen Ales on numerous jobs, both custom and speculative. Christen is a pleasure to work with. She is very resourceful and has a great eye for design. We consider her a very valuable part of our team. Alan Muskin, President The Muskin Company

wanted to pass along the fantastic experience i had with christen ales! she took a space that was in pretty bad shape and gave it the best, clean, modern, reasonable facelift that it needed! her selections were spot on, and design aesthetic is awesome!! besides her very good taste and eye for selections, she was very professional providing detailed info including photos of all selections in a very timely and efficient manner. i highly recommend her and would use her again in a heartbeat!!

Christen has been helping me decorate and furnish my new home. She has done an amazing job always respectful of my budget. She did a great job blending some of my old furniture with the new furniture. She is very easy to work with and I will continue to hire her for future projects!

Christen Ales was referred to us by friends and we were extremely pleased with her work and the results of our project. Christen connected us with our contractor (who was also an A+!) and worked closely with him to ensure we would stay within budget and that all work to be done was clearly communicated in the contract. Christen's research and recommendations for products needed for our kitchen and bath redo were respectful of our budget and reflective of her exquisite taste! From tile, to countertops, to fabrics, to lighting, everything is exactly what I dreamed of but could not have done without Christen's expertise. She was very pleasant to work with, very personable, and I hope to work with her again on other projects.

Christen helped me and my husband when we built our home. She is knowledgeable, professional and easy to work with. We overloaded her with questions that ranged from exterior lights to wall color. She was always quick to respond and gave us answers backed with reasons why certain decisions made the most sense. The selections she picked for us were awesome. Often it was hard to just pick one! They were on-point with our taste. She even helped us out of our "safe" comfort zone, choosing items that we would have never considered given we have no clue when it comes to interior design. If ever given the opportunity to build another home, you can bet we're calling Christen again. I highly recommend her services. She does not disappoint.

From day one, we seemed to "click." Christen is a breath of fresh air, in terms of personality and design sense. She's easy going, and extremely on point simultaneously; a true professional! We found her to be organized, timely, and very communicative..but never overbearing. She's also very well connected in regards to sourcing materials, turning our firm on to some great new vendors. Experience in the design field was obviously NOT lacking, as you could tell she had "been there, done that," always exuding a pleasant confidence. One of our all time best interior designer experiences :-) EcoSafe Spaces highly recommends!
