Liz Reich is an extremely talented designer who created a room for us with a total 'WOW' factor. We transformed a cluttered office with a hodgepodge of furniture and no identity into a sophisticated, masculine study with stylish, yet comfortable, furniture, chic light fixtures, gorgeous artwork, and cool accessories. We have thoroughly enjoyed spending time in this room and when entertaining, it is the main attraction. Liz has a great eye for color, patterns, and overall talent for creating a one-of-a-kind room.

I have had the pleasure of working with Liz on a few different projects and the experience has been amazing! Her ideas, designs and level of communication and comfort are unmatched. She has the ability to work with clients from many walks of life that all have different needs and wants and she always accommodates. Her vision for any space of your home is always warm and cozy yet sleek and crisp. I hope that we continue working on many different projects together!

Liz Reich is a very unique and special person. Not only is she an extremely talented designer, she is one of the nicest people I know. Her sense of style, her sense of color and her sense of scale are all exceptional. She was able to carefully listen to us and respond with exactly what we wanted. She definitely understands the "wow" factor and gets excited at being being able to create it. Everyone who comes into our home is impressed with Liz's work and her impeccable attention to detail. What a great pleasure it has been to work with Liz, as well as her assistant Laura. Now that our extensive project is finished, we will miss them both.

Elizabeth Reich has proven to be an outstanding interior designer. Liz has worked in our Great Room, Dining Room, Master Bedroom, Powder Room and Foyer. Our home has large rooms, and Liz's sense of scale is spot-on. The architectural modifications, furnishings and light fixtures we've chosen with Liz are not only beautiful, but feel like a natural, timeless part of our home. I feel that Liz knows us well, and the layers of color & texture through fabrics reflect what we wanted to achieve. As a collector of vintage objects, I was thrilled to see how Liz was able to incorporate so many of them into our rooms!
One of the first things I said to Liz was that I did not want our house to feel "decorated" - but rather, "collected" - and I am grateful to be working with a design professional who is able to achieve this time after time!
We have also been impressed by the high quality of contractors referred to us by Liz. They include a general contractor and painting, flooring and lighting specialists.

I was drawn to Liz's rooms on Houzz and am thrilled to be able to report that after working with her for the last several months we now have two rooms that are as spectacular (or more!) as the ones she has posted here on this site. We worked with Liz to create a living room that would be an adult retreat to listen to music and enjoy cocktails and great conversation. We also worked with her to create a unique dining room that would reflect our personalities. Liz hit it out of the park. The rooms are layered with great texture and color, they are inviting, and they are as wonderful to be in as they are to look at. We have had nothing but raves from friends and family who have been to our house.
The process of working with Liz and her assistant, Laura, was also nice. We had never used the services of a designer before, so we had some reservations about how it would be. Liz is an artist and has a vision for the space, but she was open to us making decisions (like artwork) that felt very personal to us. She also made good use of our existing accessories, which allowed us to keep the space personal and helped to save us some money. While I feel like I did a nice job decorating other parts of my home myself, I feel like we ended up with truly timeless, special spaces for the front of our house that I could not have conceived of myself.

I have only positive, effusive praise for my experience working with Liz Reich to decorate five rooms in our new home. My husband and I bought our first house in January of 2013 and I was completely overwhelmed with just contemplating redecorating the master bedroom, living room, kitchen, and dining room. I loved Liz's work, as pictorially depicted on Houzz.com, and asked her to please give us her ideas.
Despite my complete inability to come up with a style or theme, Liz was able to offer me paint colors, furniture suggestions, and decorative advice that transformed my humble abode into an elegant but casual, beautiful home. I still walk into my bedroom and living room, months later, and smile at how lovely my house is now.
Beyond her own talents, Liz has endless resources to recommend.... painters, contractors, designers, and they are some of the most pleasant, capable and wonderful craftsmen I have ever worked with. They were flexible with my husband and my schedule, and finished all our projects on, or ahead, of time.
I look forward to working with Liz again in the future when we tackle our second floor, but I would happily and whole-heartedly recommend Liz to anyone I know.

Liz is an amazing designer that transformed our new house into our dream home! We hired Liz to remodel several rooms in our our newly purchased house. She began the process by selecting paint colors for each room. She carefully considered our current furniture, rugs, color schemes and how it would work in the new house. The colors she picked were perfect - she saved us an incredible amount of time and helped make our new house truly feel like ours.
The next phase of the project involved redecorating our family room, living room and office. We were on a budget and Liz helped us keep to that by investing in larger pieces and finding more affordable accents online or in retail stores. Liz also helped me expand some of my design limitations by gently pushing me to try things outside of my original comfort zone- I feel like I actually learned about good design in the process, and some of the pieces I was nervous about are my favorites now!
Liz was also so aware of our lifestyle and the functionality of our rooms. With 3 small children, she knew we would need durable fabrics and everything she chose was very practical. We were in need of seating for a big crowd and she created a space that is welcoming and comfortable for both our immediate family and a house full of guests.
Liz also connected us with very talented craftsman and professionals. We had a custom built-in media cabinet and office built-ins created that are beautiful and exceeded my expectations. She has referred us to and works seamlessly with talented painters, artists, electricians and contractors. She has so many valuable resources at her fingertips and makes the process so easy.
I am still working with Liz to finish the details of each room, and she is happy to help me until i feel like the room is truly complete. She is exceptionally talented, detail oriented, innovative, and professional. Every time I enter one of the rooms Liz designed I feel at home and at ease, and I am still admiring how beautiful it all looks. It has been a wonderful experience working with her and I can't wait to get started on our next project!

I wish I had a more positive experience with Liz. Unfortunately, it was negative from the start and I blame myself for going forward when my gut told me otherwise. Liz gave me the distinct impression that as a smaller job (only a single room to start) on a smaller budget (or so she made me feel), I wasn’t as deserving of her consideration.
I wanted her help in designing a masculine office for my husband, an attorney at a large firm who works very long hours. I wanted to create a space for him so that he could bring his work home more often.
First, the initial design she provided did not include so much as a shelf for books or other storage. It seems to me some shelf or other storage mechanism would be a requisite for an office, but that is the least of my complaints. The desks she proposed had no drawers. I suggested a bookcase, which she added and, to her credit, found a beautiful one that fits the task perfectly. I also thought that the furniture arrangement she came up with was smart and provided an effective use of space that I wouldn’t have thought of.
She provided a selection of nice chesterfield sofas and I selected one from among them. When delivery came, the sofa that was installed was not the one I had selected at all. At first she tried to say that I had known about the substitution because there was a small thumbnail picture of the new couch attached to the overall workup sheet, but eventually acknowledged that the one I initially selected was going to take a long time to be delivered, and she assumed I didn’t want to wait so she substituted another one at her sole discretion (obviously hoping I was not astute enough to notice) and without notice to or approval from me. The sofas were markedly different, and the replacement looked cheap. I was so disappointed. She did accept the return of that sofa and placed the order for the one we initially selected, which we now waited an additional six months for that to be delivered. When it was delivered (for which I received a $260 delivery bill) I found that it was a full foot shorter in length than the one she had substituted. Despite my one requirement for the couch being that it can accommodate my husband reclining so that he can take naps or lie down and watch tv on breaks, it is not even long enough for me (at 5’6) to recline in. In addition to it being non-functional at this length, it looks decidedly too small for the dimensions of the room and the size of the other furniture around it. (There is a large gap between the end of it and the end table which was to be in the room's corner.)
I also expressed concerns on a couple of occasions that the desk she selected be big enough for my husband, who, at 6’4”, has had his knees bump up against many desks he’s owned in the past. Unfortunately, she didn’t heed this concern and the desk that was delivered is small and doesn’t accommodate him very well. In addition, at $1200, it is of surprisingly poor quality. The wood veneer is already peeling off the desk corners (after less than a year).
There were a couple of things my husband selected on his own, including a rug. When she came to install the furniture, she was not shy about voicing her disdain. While this last note certainly does not reflect on the quality of her work, it does speak to her customer service, which I found to be severely lacking on several occasions.
On the plus side, she put me in touch with a wonderful contractor who I have retained to do many more projects for me around the house.
I rarely leave poor reviews, but I would like to keep someone else from having the same negative experience with Liz and Jenkins Baer that I did. I tried to be as fair as possible. And clearly, she has others with whom she has worked that have had very positive experiences with her. If money is no object and you don't care about having input, she may be an ideal candidate as I do think she is a talented design professional with good visions and a beautiful portfolio.

Comment from Elizabeth Reich:
Hello Courtney,
I am sorry you feel this way about our experience together. The last time we communicated this past January, you had indicated to me that your study is very cozy and that your husband is getting a lot of use out of it.
I do take on all sizes of projects, large and small, and all types of budgets. Depending on my current workload, I have to weigh what I can feasibly take on to ensure I can manage my clients’ expectations. I agree, I don’t typically drive to Arlington (an hour from my home) for a one-room project - it just doesn't make sense. It’s much more efficient to manage 5 larger projects than 20 single room projects. But if I do decide to take on a client, I give it my 100% attention.
I do remember the rug you purchased on your own, and I recall wishing you had consulted with me prior to buying one because I would have recommended you go with a larger size. The scale of a rug is important, it should be large enough so that all of the furniture has at least the two front feet sitting on the rug. As your designer, you hired me to give you my professional opinion on what is best for your room. If I can’t communicate that to you, then I’m not doing the job you hired me for.
The original chesterfield sofa you wanted was not available for 6 months- so I did make an executive decision to find a replacement which was a better fit. One of your requirements was to get his furniture delivered as soon as possible because you said he wasn’t able to use the room until it came in. When you were unhappy with my replacement, I ordered the original one you wanted which was still unavailable. It would have taken the same amount of time had we ordered it originally as that particular company didn’t have any on hand until we received yours.
It’s extremely important for any client to feel that they have a good relationship with their designer, and vice versa. If you had any reservations about me from the start, I would have much rather we didn’t go beyond the initial consultation. I adore my clients, and I do this job because I am passionate about it. It should be an exciting, stress-free & fun experience for both parties involved. I wish you all the best and hope that you continue to enjoy the room that I designed for you and your husband.

I had almost considered the task of renovating our Family Room too overwhelming. With a style that was in desperate need of an update, and a real desire to be involved in the details, this project seemed like it might never become a reality. That is until i met Liz. She brought EVERYTHING to the table and before I knew it, she had pulled together a design for our family room that is breathtaking. This year was our first time celebrating Christmas in this room, and no one wanted to leave. Thank you Liz for your truly professional and highly talented service. I will highly recommend you to everyone.

She has a natural ability to select interesting pieces that help to complete your decorating scheme. She is truly one of the best interior designers that one could hope to work with. She focuses on her clients in a way that few others are able to do.

Liz has taken my house from flowery to fantastic! I have worked with Liz on many rooms in my house -- living room, dining room, family room, son's bedroom, my bedroom, powder room and master bath room -- and I love the results in each and every one. Not only is Liz able to see things in a new light, but she also has the ability to take the shreds of information you give her -- I like this light, these colors, this table -- and turn it into exactly what you would have had the room look like, if you had her talent! She is pleasant, professional and a pleasure to work with. I definitely plan to have her work with me again.
