We really enjoyed working with Grassroots Design and Build. Emma's design ideas were great. The guys were approachable and easy to talk to. We are very happy with the results.

We bought our house knowing that we hated our kitchen and it needed to go. I had a general idea of what I wanted, but had no idea how or if it would work in our space. A friend referred us to Grassroots Design and from the first time going through their portfolio, I knew that they would be the ones who could make my vision come to life. I was not disappointed. From the first time we met with Emma, she seemed to immediately understand what we were looking for and cared about making sure the kitchen fit with the style of our house. She took the inspiration photos that I showed her and came up with ideas that were even better than what I could have imagined. The rest of the Grassroots team were extremely professional and a pleasure to work with. It's never fun having a team of contractors in the main living space of your house, but the team went out of their way to be as unobtrusive as possible, going out of their way to leave the space neat and clean at the end of every day. The crew's attention to detail and care paid to their work is so evident in the final product. They were meticulous and held themselves to a high standard of quality. I am so happy with the way our kitchen turned out and I would hire Grassroots Design again in a heartbeat. I recommend them to anyone who is looking for a company that really cares about creating beautiful memorable spaces.

Emma, Johanna & the rest of the Grassroots team are incredible. My home has been completely transformed. The attention to detail from the team was over and above my expectations - so many little details that make the whole home come to life. The design process was more than I thought - Emma challenged what I thought I wanted with more practical and beautiful suggestions. Exactly why I hired this team. Using locally sourced items from around the Ottawa Area has really made special to me. The team was very conscious of my strict budget and we were able to adhere to it.

Emma and her team did an amazing job gutting and renovating more than 70% of our house in four months. It was so great to get a team who could do both they great renovation work but also great design. I would highly recommend them.

We hired Grassroots to do a complete renovation of our kitchen. We had a very good idea of what we wanted, but Emma was helpful in suggesting new layouts and in exploring options for finishes, guiding us to decisions when the possibilities seemed endless. The team was very resourceful. They managed to salvage the original floors for us, creating a seamless finish where they were patched and a flawless transition to the dining room which was untouched.

We hired Grassroots design for the renovation of the dated bathroom in the new house we had bought. We were on a budget and Emma was great at designing something that was beautiful, clean and modern and her design included a beautiful marble mosaic floor tile that made the bathroom extra special! Emma and her team were extremely pleasant to work with. We received a detailed estimate prior to the work beginning and it included a work schedule and a payment schedule - they were right on with the timeline and budget. The guys worked meticulously, paid attention to finishing and details and cleaned after every work day. Emma and her entire Grassroots Design & Build team provide an incredible product at competitive pricing without any of the BS. While I have not (yet) hired Grassroots to work on my own home, I have now photographed over a dozen projects by them varying in scope and scale. From accent furniture in a sitting room to a complete rebuild of a kitchen and bathroom, I've found Emma's taste to be one of classic beauty. Not everyone lives in an ultra-modern clean home, not everyone has the budget to re-construct their entire house. Emma comes in with her team and re-builds what is required preserving the feel and taste of the home and owner at any budget. I've seen kitchens using Ikea cabinets with very classy design touches to stay on budget, or a fully-outfitted bathroom with no expense spared. A contractor and designer in-one, I've found her work to be thorough and well executed from concept to finished product. If you have an old home, or just a new one that needs a touch of class, I would recommend Grassroots for this work.
