We worked with Karen McKay who was the head of the ASID design committee for our home, the 2015 ASID MN Showcase Home. It was a huge project on a very tight and accelerated timeline and Karen managed the project masterfully. She kept a crew of 20+ designers on track and on budget and handled everything with such a calm and professional demeanor...exactly what you want during a stressful home design project. In addition to managing the entire committee, she was also responsible for designing a master bath in our home, where she incorporated our taste and style perfectly. We loved working with Karen - she was always "the calm during the storm" of a very big project and we could not imagine a better person to have managed it all so well.

I hired Kayla Vig of Gunkelmans to redesign the main living space in our home as well as the master bedroom. She provided a complete design and understood my desired style and outcome for the space. I truly enjoyed working with Kayla and will hire Gunkelmans for future design needs.

I am so happy with my Minneapolis downtown condo and I couldn't have achieved what I did without Kayla Vig from Gunklemans Interior Design! I recently purchased the condo as a second residence and moved in with literally a rug to start my project with; and not much direction. We tackled lighting, construction of a fireplace, paint, furniture selection for the entire unit, tile work, fabric selection as well as accessories and custom commissioned art for the home. We hired Karen McKay from Gunkelmans for our rebuild of our new home. The original house was destroyed due to a fire, so we needed some immediate help with the rebuild process. From our first meeting Karen had a “let’s get this done” mantra. Just what we need to get this projected started and on the fast track. So we not only needed help with the overall design layout of the house, we also needed help to decorate the entire home. We basically started over with the home and furnishings. Karen was very helpful for both of us in every stage of the build. She had some great alternatives and suggestions that we implemented in our home to give it a unique and one of a kind touches. There was also a need to keep all of my ideas and wants in line with our budget, which Karen did that very well also in a respectful way. It has been a little over a month now since we have moved into our new home. I can’t tell you how many comments and praise people have given to the features and overall look of the home. From start to finish the overall experience of the service Karen gave was well above expectations and I would and do recommend Gunkelmans to everyone.

I hired Kayla Vig from Gunkelmans at the end of 2012 to design my living room, dining room, kitchen, and master bedroom. We had recently moved into the house and it was a very open layout. I needed help with the layout as well as finding new items in my price range. The initial meeting was great! My space was measured and I was asked about my needs and wants as far as price range, functionality, and style. My input was used to create a great layout with various options for fabrics and furniture pieces. I am a frugal spender so this project is still in progress; however, I have never felt pressure to hurry the process. Also, I have made changes to my initial decisions and the company worked with me with no complaints. It's been a pleasure working with Gunkelmans.
