We had a great experience with Melanie. She gave us solid recommendations to update several rooms and design ideas to tie them together. We booked a three hour session and used every minute of it focusing on paint and flooring recommendations, fixtures, furnishings and window coverings. We are already moving ahead with several of her choices. Could'nt be happier!

I hired Happy Place Interiors for a 90-minute Ideas & Inspiration consultation to get feedback on updating my kitchen, living room, and dining room. I was looking for a designer who could help me create a vision—something that I could plan and implement on my own. I knew I needed new flooring but really wanted feedback since it’s a significant investment. While I’ve updated my home over the years, some features still felt dated to the 90s (my home was built in 1993), and the overall feel lacked cohesion. Melanie provided practical advice and suggested a variety of improvements. I especially appreciated that her recommendations didn’t require major renovations or a large budget. Instead, she validated my flooring choice and then provided recommendations on wall and trim colors, furniture placement, rug selections and lighting to tie everything together. She also gave me advice on how to approach implementing the changes – like recommending that I select a table and chairs before committing to paint colors. I now feel that I have a vision to implement! I highly recommend Melanie and Happy Place Interiors to anyone looking for expert guidance.

Melanie spent 5 hours at my home and the information she provided me was invaluable! She was able to quickly identify why my kitchen and family room had felt “off” to me (the paint color) and she assisted me in finding a color that warmed up the rooms. From there we were able to move through the rest of the house, developing plans that would create the cohesiveness and the warmth I had been looking for. Prior to Melanie’s assistance I had lost my confidence in making any decorating decisions, as I felt that I could no longer trust myself. She is so knowledgeable in her craft – from paint colors to flooring, to layouts and decorating that when she left my home, I could envision the possibilities, and I am back to feeling excited about what my home can look like! My only regret is that I didn’t utilize her services earlier!!

What I especially loved is how Melanie grounded me in the *fundamentals* of home design, like color palettes and proportions. So I can apply what I learned not only to my current projects, but to future ones, too. Happy Place Interiors is amazing and Melanie is wonderful to work with! She listened to my MANY thoughts and ideas and was able to really help me come to some decisions I would never have gotten done on my own. Due to distance constraints, we were only able to meet virtually, but Melanie was able to offer insights not only for our remodel, but for design in general. When I think of other spaces in my home, I find myself referring back to the design principles she shared with me and find I'm not so overwhelmed with indecision. I would not hesitate to book an appointment with Melanie again in the future!!

We loved our experience with Melanie. We had very foundational ideas of what we wanted to do with our space, but ultimately, we were intimidated. We really spent the bulk of our time curating our family and living room spaces and how to make them unique from each other. Melanie understood the vision we were going for, offering the perfect paint color for our office and even suggestions for our bathroom. By a fortunate stroke of luck I stumbled on Happy Place Interiors’ website while I was trying, unsuccessfully, to choose paint colors. Amazing Melanie came up with the perfect paint choices for my living room & dining room. She took into account my preferences, the idiosyncrasies of the house and furnishings, and the already renovated kitchen. Her advice on accent furniture pieces, lighting, curtains, and the fireplace was immensely helpful and helped me clarify what it is I want. I learned quite a bit talking with Melanie and I highly recommend Happy Place Interiors!

Melanie was wonderful to work with. Firstly, we had a time crunch for some expensive decisions and she kindly worked with us so we could have timely design support. Secondly, she was a good listener and was responsive to our aesthetic and family needs. Her suggestions and comments were on point; even when we wanted to go a different direction, she presented design principles that guided us to solutions we would not have considered initially but were really happy with. Finally, her business model was refreshing. We initially spoke with several other designers who didn't want our project because we were in the middle and already had made lots of decisions. Melanie met us where we were at and moved us toward the end we wanted but didn't know how to get to.
