Hope R. Angier

We had an idea of getting a mural on our Summer Home and found Hope on our search, upon contact she quickly responded, she sent us samples of her work and we decided to meet with her. Hope made the road trip to SouthWest Harbor and we had coffe and went over our ideas, she was able to see our vision and was able to provide us with a sketch of the proposed artwork, with slight modification we went forward with the project and we could not be happier with the end results, it is a focal and a talking point for everyone that comes and visits. Thanks for a great job.

It was my husband, actually, who discovered Hope online when he was researching fire boards to fill the empty space of a closed up fireplace in the dining room of our former farmhouse. Hope was prompt in returning our call and setting up an appointment for a consultation at our house. Hope not only painted an enlarged fire board that beautifully coordinated with the much loved Audubon bird prints that were handed down by my husband’s mother, she also custom designed and painted a panel for above the mantel which we entitled, “Moon over Wiscasset”. It contained a rendition of the village as one approaches it from the north, our house in it, and a few other favorite things we love and remember from our lives ...sail boats, belted cows, a light house, pets and, of course, the moon over the water. That was 5-6 years ago and when we moved into a condo a year ago, the fire board and panel came with us! Our move close to Portland was yet an hour further than Wiscasset from where Hope lives, and I was positive it was beyond working distance for the Angiers to travel. Not so! Hope was delighted to help us out with yet another project ...decorative stencil painting of our dining room walls. Hope also solved the problem of our dining room being the direct entry to the garage (hence mud room) by designing a long, low shaker style grain box to “house” our shoes and boots out of sight. The box fits in perfectly with our shaker style furniture. Hope’s husband, Fred, does faux wood grain painting and he finished the grain box so that it actually looks like an antique! He also painted the living room side of our white kitchen island in a mahogany grain to have it look like a piece of furniture that “belongs” in the living room. ...a magnificent touch! Hope is so wonderful to work with - energetic, excited for you, and full of great ideas that enhance what you already have going. The knowledge and skill she possesses in the creation and execution of projects towards achieving the look you want is superb ...and projects are completed in a most timely fashion.

We met Hope at the Rockland Boat Show and were able to see some examples of her excellent work. When we asked her to give us a call at her convenience she did so immediately and before you know it she was at the house, taking measurements for what turned out to be our absolutely beautiful stair riser murals. Hope asked what we were thinking about as a design and translated it into a finished product in no time. She even matched the colors to the wallpaper in the dining room.....which was in line of sight to the stairs. My husband and I had the privilege of visiting her home here in Maine and it is a showplace of design. It is so very New England that you could swear you smell apple pie when you walk through the door. Visitors to our own home universally remark upon and admire our truly beautiful stairs. hope's work is beautiful and unique. she works with you to customize her paintings to your specifications (my stair mural has my cat in it!). her advice on complimentary colors and applications is invaluable. her paintings make me happy every time i look at them. i would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for decorative interior painting (and i have).
