About Us
Whether it’s a small Guest Suite, or a ground up new construction project, Amy enjoys being an integral part of creating environments that give her clients an organized, and thoughtful aesthetic. This pragmatic approach is balanced with an effort to infuse each space with the clients’ personality and respond to their unique requirements and needs.
Amy Thomasson, owner and principal designer of House of Amelia, has been designing Dallas interiors and second homes around the country for the past 13 years. However, her love for interior design began much earlier, at age 10, when her family decided to redecorate their home. As she helped her mother select each fabric and finish in the home, her love of design, fabric, color and texture was born. After receiving her degree in Interior Design from Baylor University in 1999, she continued to hone her design skills and knowledge working with well-respected design influencers in the Dallas design community before opening House of Amelia this past year.
Her personal tastes are highly influenced by her affinity for modern art and design as well as her love for mid-century furniture and architecture. However, her experience and love of design in general gives her the unique ability to work in any design style and execute sophisticated, comfortable and beautiful spaces. House of Amelia strives to create environments that are well balanced, comfortable and reflective of our client’s unique personality.

It was a fun and productive project, putting together our townhouse living area. I really appreciated the works I'd seen in her portfolios and wanted to go with her style aesthetic, but I wanted to be very involved in the process, too, and Amy let me do that. She paid close attention to the styles I gravitated to, introduced me to cool vendors that I would not know of otherwise. Everyone who walks into our living room says wow. I learned a lot about design working with her. I would absolutely use her again and recommend her to others.

I interviewed multiple interior designers. Amy impressed me by her quick response and promise to help me stay on budget that put her above all the rest. Those same characteristics have continued to impress me while working with Amy. She is thoughtful and creative. Amy has established a wonderful relationship with our family. She helped us build our home and proposed beautiful ascetics/design for our selections. She is honest and trust worthy. A great listener. Amy has become a friend. We are so grateful for her services.

I've had the pleasure of working with House of Amelia both personally and professionally. Most recently she assisted me with our office renovation and it was totally transformed. Amy's passion for what she does is so refreshing. She partners with some of the best contractors I've ever worked with... professional, timely, precise, detailed. She's created such a seamless team. I highly recommend House of Amelia for any project small or large. There's a reason she's been named Best Designer in Dallas numerous times. She's the real deal.

Working with Amy has been a truly excellent experience. I had a few disappointing and painful experiences before she was hired, with other designers, either they were expensive or not good. One even duped and never returned the 5K given to her for the project which after months of waiting never started.
Amy came like a ray of sunshine at a time when everything looked bleak. She immediately understood my taste and liking, and worked around it. She had multiple recommendations for everything that was purchased to suit my taste and to keep within the budget. She worked tirelessly, and her enthusiasm at times made me feel she was designing her home and not mine.
She even helped me save by suggesting where to buy from, where to save and where to spend.
Her taste is excellent and she certainly is an inborn designer with flair for beauty and design.
She gave me the home of my dreams. In her, I also found a sincere friend I would never want to lose I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I adored working with Amy Thomasson and the House of Ameila! Amy is a master at understanding her client's needs and interests and creating a design vision to meet both. There is no one better at finding the perfect color palette and integrating it across an entire home. Amy is fluid across many design styles and she creates an eclectic and curated look. She masterfully repurposed many of my older pieces, chose stunning fabrics & wallpapers, helped me find gorgeous rugs, hung my art, and guided me thoughtfully throughout our project. She has an artist's sensibility and a business person's perspective. You will love working with Amy!

We hired Amy to renovate a 1940s investment property that had never been updated & needed lots of work. Amy had great ideas from the very start, and her suggestions on how to open the floor plan and reconfigure two closets into an open laundry were not only budget-conscious, but were also period appropriate, which was important to us being located in a historic part of town. The kitchen and bathroom were completely gutted with all new cabinetry, open shelving, appliances and fixtures. We love how the finishes turned out, from the countertops and tile work in the kitchen, to the mosaic hex tile floor in the bathroom as well as the built-in seating & storage in the breakfast nook. All parts of the renovation were designed to maximize the limited space available. After the work was done, we realized our little investment property was in many ways nicer than our own home. Thanks for a great project Amy!

I had the pleasure of working across the hall from Amy. We were both emerging designers preparing for big things. We always walked across the hall to each other to share ideas and opinions on projects we were designing. At that time, Amy had more experience than myself, and she often was there to lend an ear and offer suggestions on how to handle difficult situations. We worked closely on charitable events together. Amy is a wonderful person and a great designer. I highly recommend her for your next project.

In one day Amy took pictures of all of my furniture in my house and then drew a floor plan of the cottage in the retirement village where I was moving and placed all the furniture for me to take with me. She was a HUGE blessing to me and a joy to work with. I HIGHLY recommend Amy!

I am amazed by Amy's talent, and thrilled with the way her ideas turned out in my home. I was looking for a designer to help get my house ready to put on the market. I had the basic pieces, but needed help choosing art, arranging furniture, and accessorizing. In just three days she transformed my house! And, on a budget of less than $2000. Her art selection and placement is spot on, and the accessories are styled perfectly. I was especially impressed by her knack with spatial relationships. She rearranged my furniture in ways I never would have thought of, and it made a huge impact in nearly every room. I highly recommend her, and can't wait to work with her again in my next house.

I asked Amy to provide ideas on decor four our new house. She helped us choose paint for several rooms, consulted on our upcoming remodel of powder bath, kitchen and playroom/guest room. She had great ideas and all her suggestions were implemented. We are so happy we chose to work with her and would recommend her highly.

When I updated my Flower Mound home, I needed help installing my art collection. I had been searching the DFW area for a designer with an art
and design background; I found that person in Amy Thomasson. She
immediately knew the look that I wanted to achieve not only with my art
but my space as well. She listens to your ideas and thinks of not only how
a space looks but how it functions for your family. I really enjoy working
with Amy and appreciate her energy, her beautiful sense of style, and let's get this done attitude.
Thank you Amy!
