Illume Design Interiors and Landscape

I don't know how I ever lived without this master bathroom. Maren transformed our master bathroom into what you'd see in a luxurious five-star hotel that looks like straight out of a magazine. Her attention to every tiny detail, space planning knowledge, and fresh ideas really brought this bathroom to its maximum potential. I have lived in my 1957 house for 20 years with an original dysfunctional tiny 9x5 1950’s master bath. The vanity was 24” and the shower was non functioning and used to store golf clubs and “stuff”. Maren was most excited about the challenge of maximizing every single inch to allow for two people to easily use the bathroom at the same time, and her space planning vision was unbelievable, being the bath was so tiny. Architecturally speaking, things I never would have known to make such a difference included moving the door over two feet (original door location had you staring right at the toilet when you walk in and was off center), and turning swing door to pocket door to eliminate bottlenecks. She removed the tiny window and installed a 72”H floor to ceiling picture window which visually enlarged the space and allowed maximum light in. By pushing into the bypass hallway closet behind the shower, we gained 2’ of length which allowed for the 60” vanity and a luxury curbless shower with body sprays. We used the same tile all the way through the bathroom into the shower so there were no mixed use of tile, so that trick makes the bathroom look bigger. Now for the details: We used a custom cabinet maker to design around our size needs, like only being 19” deep vs 21” (every inch counted!). We buried electrical into the drawers with a custom center drawer made to store each appliance in their dedicated holes so I could plug in all my hair appliances there and not have cords cluttering up the counter. Because of the shower being pushed out 2’, we now have dual sinks which is a dream for me and deep drawers for towel storage and essentials. To visually expand the space even more, Maren installed one large 60” mirror over the entire vanity, then hung 2 large round modern mirrors on top of the large mirror. I didn't even know it was possible to put a mirror on top of a mirror! It added dimension and modern clean visual interest. It turned out absolutely stunning. She also added two beautiful hanging pendants and installed heating and thermostat to our new tile floor, which is a blessing in this chilly state! Because my favorite color ever is Rose Gold, she chose modern fixtures in Rose Gold for the shower and sinks, and mixed in brushed stainless steel and dark bronze for the other metals (all warm undertones that flow together.)

Mären recently helped me with a complete face lift on my dated kitchen. Her ideas are innovative, functional and were spot on with what I had visualized in my space. She has a unique talent to introduce ideas that I didn't even know i needed till she brought them to my attention, and now I don't know how i could have considered the job complete without them. Little details like under-cabinet power to eliminate outlets in a very unique backsplash, mixing textures and bold design choices set this kitchen apart from any designs I was pitched by complete kitchen remodel outfits. Mären has a keen eye for detail and symmetry in design that result in such a complete and polished look. My husband and I hired Maren to design our home. It was the best thing we did, we could never be happier. She has an amazing natural talent. The results speak for themselves. There's no comparison how hiring a designer changes the results vs trying to do it yourself. I can't imagine how it would have looked if we did it ourselves. Maren has a unique eye for pulling together color, texture and style. She's very detailed oriented and is an exceptional designer. Most importantly, we love our home and how it looks.

I have worked with Illume Design Interiors multiple times, and I have been so pleased with the outcome every time.
