Insightful Interiors

We retained Lina at Insightful Interiors in December 2021 to assist us with renovating our 30-year-old oak kitchen and the main floor of our house, all of which had to be completed by mid-July 2022. in time for our daughter's wedding. Lina came to see our house to get the lay of the land, our wants, needs, and ideas. Subsequently, Lina brought her kitchen cabinet manufacturer, and he measured up our space and provided some great ideas. In a few days, we had a set of drawings, followed by a few markups, and the cabinets were on order. As our project moved along, Lina brought up ideas and questioned our reasoning or thinking on some aspects of the project. We had a great time and a lot of laughs traveling around the city to meet suppliers and look at colors, tile, countertops, flooring, and the like. All the kitchen elements look great. The cabinets fit right the first time, and the finishing carpenters were a treat to work with. Everyone was super conscious of cleaning up after themselves and protecting the finishes. We appreciated Lina's support and insights a great deal. Yes, the renovation was completed prior to the wedding. We are very pleased with our kitchen and main floor transformation.

We were downsizing from a very large space to a small one. Lina helped us make decisions on what furniture to keep and what would look appropriate in our new space. That included measuring out all furniture to make sure it would fit and measuring out where it would fit into the new space. Several lay outs were provided. She had great ideas on where to get upholstery, drapery, and rugs. She provided excellent assistance on kinds of fabric, pattern, and color selection and was very mindful of our tastes and ideas. Covid presented many challenges and Lina arranged all the appointments with the appropriate establishments that under ordinary circumstances would have allowed walk-ins. There was excellent communication throughout the whole process. A comprehensive detailed invoice of costs was provided. In all, a very positive and rewarding experience and we would have no hesitation recommending Lina!

I contacted Lina O'Donnell from Insightful Interiors because I wanted some assistance with the selections of products and finishes for the cabin we were building on a side of a mountain in Nordegg, Alberta. My husband and I were planning to complete some of the finishing work ourselves. As the cabin was a fair distance away from where Lina’s business is located, we did most of the work together virtually. Lina worked with us to select all interior paint colors, stain for the bathroom vanities and barn doors, kitchen countertops and backsplashes, light fixtures, a ceiling fan and mirrors. Samples were ordered and I was able to test paint and stain colors prior to applying. Lina assisted us with all the selections and all-time sensitive decisions were made on time. This gave us piece of mind. We were pleased with the virtual design process and were happy Lina could help us create a cabin with a rustic vintage industrial appeal to complement the local area.

I contacted Lina at Insightful Interiors in September, 2019 to assist with the transformation of a formal dining space to a home office in our house. We started with a phone consultation and then she came to see the space with the person she uses for cabinetry. As the project progressed, what impressed me about Lina was how she would ask questions that made me think about the space in a way I hadn't thought of; depth of upper cabinets to fit all I needed, legal or letter size file folder storage, working near a window and the temperature considerations to name a few. I appreciated this a great deal because I felt supported through the process that as many aspects that needed to be considered were. Now that the space is complete, I am extremely happy with the final product as well as the process and I look forward to working with Lina again in the future.

We hired Lina to design our kitchen, give us advice on flooring, countertops, colors, lighting, finishings. She came into our home and worked with us to design a kitchen that works for us. She was always respectful of our design style and budget and offered solutions and advice within that stye. She never pushed her style on us. The saying: the cost of a designer is less than your first mistake: was very true in our case and she saved us from ourselves more than once. She was fun, easy to work with , spent time with us sourcing product for our project. She worked with our cabinet maker and contractor and his team and did her best to keep the project running smoothly. As I write, our project that was already over the timeline is on hold due to COVID-19 but we are looking forward to it being completed soon. We are happy we chose to hire Lina.

She made me feel so comfortable in voicing my wants and desires for the perfect space while respecting my budget and very rushed timeline. I contacted Lina as we were preparing to do a kitchen renovation... a big on! Walls removed, electrical, pluming, lighting, cabinetry etc... Lina came out and gave us ideas that we never could have imagined. Accurate measurements and great advice on window placement and counters, cabinets and counter-tops. She was a delight to work with - very visionary and understood exactly what I wanted even though I didn't even know :)

Lina was a guest at my home and while we were enjoying drinks on my deck she suggested I change my seating arrangement. WOW! By removing and rearranging a few peices of furniture allowed better usage of space, so my guests are comfortable in conversation or having a meal. Her skills in using plants, floral arrangements and things I have collected, exceeded my expectations, resulting in loving my space even more.......hire this professional. She will not disappoint!!!!!

Hiring Lina to help with our reno made all the difference. She looked at our kitchen in a way we had never considered and suggested changes that were thoughtful, reasonable and well worth the effort. I contacted Lina O'Donnell of Insightful Interiors about redecorating my master bedroom. She visited promptly, listened carefully to what I had in mind and gave me ideas to modernize the room. It took a little time to decide on the exact shades I was interested in but after several trips to the paint shop by both her and myself, it all came together. The preparation of the room by her painter and his assistant was handled well and once the new rug was in, they proceeded with the painting almost immediately cutting down the time that my condo was in disarray by several days. The painting and clean up went very smoothly and I was pleased that they put the room back together even to hanging the pictures for me. The service and results more than met my expectations so I am happy to recommend Insightful Interiors to anyone who would like help with the renovation of their home.

Lina worked closely with my wife and I to renovate our kitchen. After 15 years our kitchen had become dated and seemed dark. Lina assisted in the choosing of countertops, appliances, cabinets, sinks, furniture and other aspects of the renovation. Today our kitchen has more modern feel, is much brighter and functional. We are very pleased with her work!
