Working with Amy Schweitzer of Inspired x Design was our first time engaging an interior designer. Our home is old (circa 1912) and small (approx. 1,500 sq. ft.) Given the era of our home, we had a lot of Arts & Crafts furniture around the house because, lacking our own interior design point-of-view, it seemed to be "appropriate"...and generic. The longer we lived in our house, we began to get a better sense of the aesthetic we wanted to be surrounded by; one that not only made sense for a 1912 house but more importantly was a true expression of our personalities, what appeals to us stylistically, and works with how we live. After one gigantic misstep trying to execute this vision on our own (a lot of furniture ordered and returned and the restocking fee that went along with it, ugh!), we found Amy. And thank goodness! The process of working with Amy has been a complete joy. She has an incredible ability to elicit from you what you want, to bring options that fulfill your expectations, and to stay within your budget. You get so much more for your dollar (options, quality, uniqueness) than you would using traditional resources. Being new to the whole process, we came with certain preconceived notions (translation: fears) about what it would be like. Especially thinking we'd need to steel ourselves against the designer thrusting his/her style upon us. Working with Amy was the furthest thing from that. She's highly collaborative and inclusive. But, she has no qualms about telling you when and why your idea won't work which is so essential. Whether it be traditional stores or online resources, there's a lot out there. But...are the proportions right? The scale? These were things we really struggled with when trying to design our home on our own. The end result: we now have a home we love. It looks like us and feels like us. The space is warm, welcoming, comfortable. An eclectic combination of old + modern that fits together beautifully. It makes us happy to be in our home. And it would never have been this way without Amy's involvement. To anyone reading this who may be new to using an interior designer like we were and wondering who to work with, I whole heartedly encourage you to speak with Amy.

This was a major remodel of a 17 year old townhouse. Inspired x Design assisted us with the following areas: design of cabinets/built-ins throughout the house color selections (wall paint/cabinet colors/hard wood floors and tile) furniture and area rug selection window treatments (blinds and drapes) fireplace design (2 fireplaces) granite selection throughout the house Tile selections removal of walls (which walls, etc) lighting selection Inspired x Design helped us take our 17 year old townhome and transform it into an open floor plan where the living spaces work harmoniously, the spaces flow cohesively, and it feels like our home. We love to entertain, and the spaces work very well for small and large groups.
