“Each project becomes special to me because of the unique aesthetic a client is searching for and is ultimately rewarded with at the end of a job”. J. Tight Interiors is an Interior Designer specializing in living and working environments for clients. When people ask Janet what is her style, her response is that her strength is not in working within a certain style, but rather bringing each client’s unique personality into the architecture of a space, whether that’s modern, traditional or eclectic. She loves challenging spaces and coming up with creative solutions that in the end don't come across as a problem that was solved, but simply a wonderful living environment that her clients are happy with for years to come. Janet's original education was in Visual Design at the University of Oregon. That skill set parlayed into clothing and textile design, and ultimately interiors. She completed UC Berkeley’s post graduate program in Interior Architecture and Interior Design, and worked in both hospitality design and residential architecture before launching her own firm.

We hired Janet Tight to help us update various rooms in our Eichler home. She is wonderful to work with – smart and funny, warm and professional. Janet worked with our budget, while bringing an integrated approach to all the elements we asked her to review, from cabinetry to lighting and kitchen and bathroom fixtures. We’re grateful for the thoughtful footwork she did to present us with various design choices that were consistent with mid-century modern interiors, and for coming up with solutions that were both practical and beautiful in a design sense. She guided us through the process - explaining what to expect and how long it might take. She also put us in touch with her network of contractors and helped us vet the bids and respond with clarifying questions. In brief, she both demystified and organized our project, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. We would highly recommend her!

Janet is managing a house remodeling project. The project is not yet complete, but Janet has been instrumental in contacting, meeting with, and following up on contractors to get project bids; sourcing materials including floor tile for 900+sq. ft. of open floor plan, cabinet and wall paint, fixtures, vanity and more; meeting the contractor and workers at the job site; and following up on any construction issues that arise. Janet is timely, efficient, friendly and easy to work with and she has excellent taste. She is able to zero in on the individual tastes of her clients (I have seen several other projects). I highly recommend J. Tight Interiors for your interior design work.

Janet Tight has assisted us on several projects, most recently a master bedroom and bathroom remodel. She was very thorough gathering details and incorporating our ideas which she converted into actual plans. She was mindful of our budget and assisted in our choice of finishes and features. The whole project from start to finish was far easier than expected due to Janet's relaxed style and excellent understanding of exactly what was needed. We highly recommend her!!

I can't say enough good things about Janet. I was preparing for and recovering from a major surgery for the course of our kitchen remodel. I had no energy. Janet listened carefully to what we wanted and brought us beautiful samples from which to choose. She followed our lead always, but her suggestions were spot on. (Nothing beats a designer's eye.) She kept the project moving forward, no matter what was going in her life. She recommended an excellent cabinet company and contractor. Janet will do as much or as little as you need her to, but she is always mindful of the cost to her client. We have a beautiful kitchen, and I look forward to tackling the bathroom with Janet's help!

Our friend and owner of the condominium we live in struck gold when she was referred to this talented designer. Our 40+ year old kitchen was small and . . . dilapidated. Enter Janet. After listening carefully to our various “hopes and dreams” she presented us with detailed plans for 3 or 4 viable options, and the end result has made our tiny space feel twice as large. She captured our good ideas, gently steered us away from at least one bad one, and came up with some brilliant elements we hadn’t thought of. Janet was a joy to work with every step of the project, and her connections are The Best: if all contractors were as reliable and competent as the craftsman she brought to our project there would be a definite dearth of remodel horror stories.

We completely renovated, expanded and remodeled our home. We hired Janet Tight primarily to provide guidance on the design for the interior. She helped in the space design for several of the rooms. She also assisted us in choosing tile, paint colors, fixtures, window coverings, doors, etc. etc. She went with us to the various show rooms or when possible brought samples to us to save time. Janet has impeccable taste. We have had numerous compliments on the final results. Janet is extremely reliable and her costs are very reasonable. I highly recommend J. Tight Interiors.

Janet understood what I wanted almost immediately. Very quickly she picked out complementing furniture and pieces that work very well with my existing decor. She also picked new paint colors for 2 of my bathrooms that softened the rooms. Lastly she worked with a furniture store in resolving a dispute with a poorly made product. She is easy to get along with, flexible, very responsive. Janet is awesome!!

Janet designed the interior and exterior design of our week-end house in Point Reyes. We'd worked with her before on the interiors of our office building and knew her wonderful work. Janet listened carefully to our ideas and came up with many suggestions that were beautiful and cost effective solutions from which we were able to choose. She did an excellent job of coordinating the paint colors, furniture style, fabric, and configuration with woodwork and tile as well as showing a tremendous sensitivity to the beauty of the building site by selecting finishes that fit in seamlessly with the land- scape. Janet is one of the most naturally talented, hardworking, reliable, and sensible professionals we have ever worked with. We had a very tight budget and Janet came up with little flourishes that make the overall house seem much more luxurious and increased its value a great deal. Janet was a pleasure to work with every step along the way and we love how the house turned out.

Janet designed a kitchen remodel for our 1954 house. She helped me pick cabinets, tile, countertops, appliances, colors for paint, hardware, lighting, etc. She also drew plans for the contractor and city. The kitchen is absolutely wonderful becasue of Janet's involvement. I would not have known how to ask for what I wanted in cabinetry or how to work with the cabinet makers and contractor to have it come out the way it did. I could not be happier with the outcome. Janet has a great eye and her confidence in choices made it easier for me. We have worked with many people on many house projects - none as good as this one.
