About Us

Jae Berni sees her design role as collaborative. She believes her clients' homes are personal reflections of their lifestyles. She blends her creative and artistic expertise with their preferences to create unique and highly individual interiors. Jae honed her design style through 25 years of experience on a wide range of projects from a single bedroom in a Frank Lloyd Wright home to an entire European country-style house from its inception to completion. Her work has been seen in more than 17 Oak Park and River Forest Infant Welfare Society showcase houses and has been featured in shelter magazines including Chicago Home, Design Showcase and Traditional Home. It also appeared in Traditional Home Window Style design book. Jae is a graduate of the International Academy of Design in Chicago and is a licensed interior designer with professional membership in the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Her home and business is located in River Forest, Illinois.

Jae Berni has worked with me on several projects, from selecting color schemes to integrating fabric patterns, to create warm and inviting spaces in my home. Most recently, I was searching for window coverings to blend a modern kitchen remodel with existing provincial furniture and pottery. She found exactly the right fabric, a charming embroidered linen, to complete the eclectic look I wanted. In addition to her private clients, she has designed many rooms for the annual Oak Park-River Forest Infant Welfare Society Showcase House, rooms that have inspired hundreds of visitors.

We have worked with Jae for the past 15 years, in three different houses. Her eye for detail and ability to capture our personalities is fabulous. Our style is traditional/transitional and she tailors each recommendation to reflect our tastes and needs. As our children have grown, so have our decorating needs. She has been instrumental in helping us design rooms for our boys that have taken them from toddlers to teens. Jae's fabric selection and design asthetic have helped us create homes that are family-friendly and cozy, yet elegant and tasteful. We feel incredibly fortunate to have such a strong relationship with such a talented designer.

I have worked with Jae Berni for 15 years. I was lucky enough to see her work and knew out of the gate she was going to be a perfect fit. She is known for her great attention to detail. She has decorated our house, office, mid-century weekend home and hunting lodge. We couldn't be happier with her work. She is a pleasure to work with too!
