My husband and I worked with Jon to gut and redesign a master bath, a guest bath and a master walk-in closet. We knew Jon’s work because of his collaboration with our son who gutted and redesigned a Manhattan co-op. The spectacular outcome of that project demonstrated his meticulous attention to design details and his excellent sense of color. In addition we knew of his ability to collaborate with contractors and their subs; and to always meet deadlines and budget projections. What we learned in addition from our experience was that Jon had the ability to help us articulate who we are and how we live; and then to translate that into the design of our space. Our finished project truly feels like “our design;” and we are thrilled with our new living space. We are working with Jon on renovating the two bathrooms in our condo and have completed the first of these projects. Jon has been super helpful and very clear and communicative throughout the entire process. He listens to us, provides us with options, and also builds on any feedback we give him. He has also been extremely helpful with project management involving our contractor and we feel this has led to a relatively error-free buildout so far.

Jon completely redesigned the parlor floor of our house, a Victorian row house in Boston's South End. The rooms themselves are completely original--moldings, ornate mantles, walnut trim. Our challenge to Jon was to make the room more contemporary and inviting without changing those historically significant details. He undoubtedly rose to this challenge, creating a beautiful, comfortable space. Jon puts thought into every decision. He is a great listener, and he has an encyclopedic knowledge both of the history of design and of the work of current designers and artists. Jon Andersen did the initial and complete interior design for my 1700 sqft South End Boston penthouse condo. He integrated my Biedermeier furniture and abstract and modernist art with new contemporary furniture. Over the next 10 years he did additional design work including: - Complete redesign of master bedroom suite and bathroom (built-in furniture, steam shower, etc) - Roofdeck - Kitchen - Built-in Office - Combination use room design with wall unit (AV, 2nd office space, bookcase) The work was featured in the Boston Sunday Globe Magazine and in a national design magazine. Jon has a superb design sense that combines a modern eye with an understanding of the clients' tastes and needs. He also creates extraordinary custom furniture and built-ins.

Jon Andersen is a joy to work with, a storehouse of creativity, and a knowledgeable resource in the world of interior design. He thinks out of the box, and at the same time is practical when implementing a design plan. We've done a variety of projects with Jon including choosing paint colors to freshen up an apartment and tearing a house down to the studs and chosen every finish and fixture together. Oh, and that home we completely remodeled together, we sold it for much, much more than the remodel dollars we put in. We believe that is due in large part to the absolutely perfect and translatable choices Jon made with us for our home. We hired Jon 12 years ago to help us furnish and decorate our 1920 Colonial, and over the years, he's done design work on almost every room of our house, including recent renovations and additions. When we first purchased our house, Jon put together furniture and design plans for every room, along with a budget. This gave us a long term plan, and it helped us avoid costly mistakes. Since the plan was so carefully thought out, we still love everything that we purchased. All the furniture is perfectly sized to the sometimes tricky 1920's dimensions, and all the fabrics, draperies, and colors coordinate perfectly. Jon's ability to select paint colors and fabrics is impeccable. He has a knack for understanding a client's color preference and then finding the perfect paint color for a room. He considers everything, including the room's usage and how the color will look in various lighting scenarios. Since we have children, we were concerned about wear and tear on upholstered furniture, rugs, and draperies. Jon kept this in mind, and found durable but beautiful fabrics for us. We highly recommend Jon, and we are so thankful that he helped us furnish and decorate our house.

Jon helped us with an exterior and interior "reboot" of our home. I knew it needed something -- but could never figure out how to fix it. I called Jon based on the glowing recommendation of a friend I trust. He immediately identified a number of improvements that were easy fixes and made a HUGE difference in the curb appeal and the interior flow of our home. He was reasonable, worked with our preferences and let us know when those preferences needed some help. A summary of the project: Exterior: repaint, add planters, fix entryway, replace fences; complete backyard overhaul with raised decking, spa, landscaping, lighting. Interior: repaint, window treatments, French doors to the backyard, key furniture and rugs in common area. Pros: Jon is easy to work with, good listener, great ability to problem-solve, great sense of style Cons: I live on the West Coast and he's now based on the East Coast. Would definitely work with Jon again if he ever moved back to LA.

I'm a contractor that specializes in restoration carpentry and construction. I've worked with Jon Andersen on several different projects over the past sixteen years. At times, I've worked or Jon, At others, I've worked for his clients. Once, I even hired him to design the floor plan of my own home. In other words, I've worked with Jon in all configurations of the designer/client relationship. Each time, Jon has been a pleasure to work with and a great designer. Jon is one of those people that were born to design and just intrinsically see what it is you want before you even knew you wanted it. We had been living with these design plans for a while for our addition and hired Jon to overlook and help with overall design before we sent them to engineering. He immediately saw many major and minor tweaks that are going to completely change the flow and feel of this house in such a monumental way. For the first time, after the tweaks were implemented, I am excited about this addition as I can see how it is going to improve my life and the way I live in this house. I am so glad we hired him and now I can't wait to see how these plans come to life. I feel safe in his hands that we aren't going to make any bad decisions design-wise, which we were so very close to doing!! He is also just a super sweet guy and so easy to work with.

We recently completed a renovation and conversion of a triplex back to a single family home with Jon Andersen Interiors. I find that Jon has an amazing eye and appreciation for detail. Jon transformed our living room in Laurel Canyon from an empty shell to a warm and inviting space that is now one of the most used rooms in our home.
