We recently bought a house built ~1910 on the east side of Providence and it needed a ton of work. This was our first time undertaking a remodel, and hiring Josh was by far our best decision. Josh brings so many things to the table, but the most important is his vision. He was able to deal with an at times difficult contractor and insure that every detail came together to produce an amazing product. His attention to detail started the first week we met with him through project story boards. It continued with him being constantly present and on site throughout the project - troubleshooting any and all problems along the way. Josh is highly professional and a pleasure to work with. That being said he has no trouble holding contractors accountable to get his clients results. Josh's is extremely knowledgeable on process and product. Looking at our beautifully remodeled bathroom and second floor I know that I have Josh to thank for the success of the project. We have 1 or 2 future remodeling projects and will certainly be hiring him again. We recommend Josh without reservation.

I had a great experience with Josh and his designs. He incorporated my ideas into the final plan and he answered my phone calls and emails as the project progressed. My husband and I hired Josh to redesign and manage renovations in our house. Renovations included redesigning our kitchen and family room, and adding a new bathroom. He helped us choose paint colors for nearly the whole house, choose furniture for our living room and family room, as well as new appliances for our kitchen. We absolutely loved working with Josh and cannot say enough good things. His experience, keen eye for detail, and knowledge of home construction are invaluable (particularly if you are dealing with plumbing issues). Josh has great taste and really took our style into account when choosing both the design elements and furnishings. He was also mindful of our budget, and was able to identify which renovations and features would add value to the home, as well as places to save money. Working with Josh was so easy. He is very responsive to questions and was able to work around our schedules when setting up meeting times. He also stayed on top of all our contractors, managed the construction schedule, and made sure each performed quality work. To that end, every contractor/vendor he recommended did great work and supplied quality products. We wanted to be very hands off so we let Josh run the show and everything went very smoothly. We really can't say enough nice things about Josh. He has made this process so easy and we are so happy with the results.

Josh is an excellent interior designer who takes into account your budget and personal style! He is a color expert who is filled with endless possibilities for your projects. Josh designed the layout of the remodel for our first floor, including an accent wall in our living room to cover our chimney. Josh also suggested and picked out new rugs, light fixtures, mirrors, plants, and furniture for our house. We are thrilled with the new design and look of our living room and dining room! He was always available to answer our questions and provide helpful suggestions. We can't wait for Josh to work his magic on our next project!

Working with Joshua Shockley Interior Design was the best thing I ever did! We were remodeling our bathroom and I was not sure exactly what I wanted. Joshua came to our home many times and from our lengthy conversations I was finally able to figured out what I wanted. He took his time and was most concerned that my end results were what I wanted. He had all the patience in the world. His was very accommodating as far as getting together and he worked around my schedule. Joshua was never more than a phone call, text or email away and always got back to me immediately, I never felt like I was "bothering" him every time I reach out to him (which was many times). So if you are looking for a designer; he is your person!

I thought I was hiring Josh to help me select furniture and paint colors but he did so much more than that. He was with me every step of the way during our renovation, bringing big picture vision to our project, suggesting ideas we never would have thought of and handling details I never expected him to - like spending hours mixing colors with the hardwood floor installer to get the shade just right. Josh was always open to feedback and respected our budget, and he was a ton of fun to work with. As soon as we finished our renovation, I began thinking about what project to work on with him next!

Using Josh was like opening the shades and letting the sun shine in. The project was to redesign/redecorate our living room and dining room spaces. He took the furniture and room features we loved and integrated them with contemporary design elements to bring energy and youth to the entire space. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the end result and would never have gotten there without him. Josh was delightful to work with because in addition to his both trained and naturally talented eye, and his positive and encouraging personality, he really listens. Josh asked great questions about our pattern of living, what we wanted to achieve functionally and which aspects of the room we liked and wanted to maintain, and which we could eliminate. He was careful to get parameters around what we were willing to do in terms of changing the space and pushed us to really think that through. So for example, we knew we didn’t want to add on to the house but we would consider modifying or eliminating walls. He then formulated an initial plan based both on what we said and what he knows to be good design. His dedication to making sure we got what we wanted was very impressive. We felt completely comfortable changing our minds several times before landing on one that felt just right. From a business standpoint, he was clear about his fees upfront and stuck to that - no surprises. He worked to get the lowest price possible, which we appreciated, and we never felt pressure to use him to purchase items we wanted to get on our own. He has great contacts and was able to find several contractors to bid on our project, and we were very pleased with all of them. The only downside? The project ends. We’re going to miss him!

Josh helped us select paint colours, window coverings, furniture, and light fixtures for our entire home - 3 levels. The real challenge was that we wanted it done over a 2 month time period, and Josh completed within time. Josh showed great project management skills, professionalism, and patience throughout the entire project.

Josh Shockley is THE BEST! He is extremely professional, accommodating and available. He listens to clients and remains respectful of the budget. His design ideas transformed our industrial loft into a warm, inviting, comfortable space at an affordable price. We look forward to working with Josh on Phase II of the project.

We recently had the pleasure of working with Josh on our kitchen and bathroom renovation. Our space went from dingy and outdated to modern, fresh, and homey. He was always flexible and accommodating with our schedules, often working while we were gone. It was always a real treat to come back to new finished areas. We never doubted that Josh had a great eye for design, but one of his greatest strengths is his ability to problem solve. This was apparent throughout all stages of the project starting with making smart design choices to ensure we stayed within budget without any notable sacrifices in quality or functionality. My husband and I hired Josh Shockley to help us design our master bedroom as part of a complete remodeling of our master bathroom and kitchen. Josh worked within the structure of the remodeling project and was respectful of the timeline and constraints of the building project and his design flowed seamlessly into the other pieces of the project.
