I loved working with Julie! She has great taste. She incorporated items I already had into the design and encouraged me to look at colors and fabrics that I never would have thought of or considered on my own. Of course, those things turned out to be my absolute favorites pieces. I am obsessed with my barstools, reupholstered dining chairs and custom-made ottoman. All stunning! Best of all, my friends say it looks just like my style. Thanks to Julie for listening to my likes and creating something elevated and beautiful that I never could have done. So happy that I decided to work with a designer and Julie in particular.

Julie was a lifesaver. She designed every aspect of my condo, elevating my style while retaining my personality and staying within my budget. Julie's an expert at creating the room and home you want but can't articulate on your own. She balances form and function so you'll enjoy living in your space, not just looking at it. After reading an article on designsponge.com that featured Julie Maigret, I knew she was the designer I'd been searching for. Thus began a nearly decade long partnership; 4-homes in 3-cities in 2-states. First conversations with Julie are about discovering client needs, how we live & what daily life looks like. Her goal is to create livable spaces that stand the test time and delight long after the initial reveal. Working with Julie is fun & stress free! Julie’s incredible visual & creative talents resulted in beautiful spaces I could have never created myself. She guides the selection process keeping budget top of mind and steering toward pieces with both purpose & whimsy and most important, things that can live beyond the confines of a particular set of dimensions. Despite the deluge of resources available in Nashville, I turned to Julie to design 2 homes in TN. I have yet to meet a more talented and kinder designer than Julie Maigret. We worked with Julie on a total living-room makeover, and it was a fantastic experience. Julie brings both (1) a discerning, creative eye and (2) great judgment about cost and impact---that is, not about just total cost but about where it's best to go higher-end and where it's reasonable to save. As a result, she can thoughtfully allocate any given budget toward eye-catching pieces that elevate the design. The design process was collaborative, efficient, and fun. Julie first recommended several custom layouts and, after we narrowed choices, filled in textures and furniture options. She ultimately found some statement pieces we would have never found ourselves---including a stunner of a coffee table that consistently attracts compliments, and some gorgeous custom floor-stools from an artist in Israel. You'll never get that kind of taste from a catalog, no matter how hard you try. I hope to have an excuse to work with Julie again.

Professional, responsive, creative, adaptable, inspired would be some words I would choose to describe Julie. Absolutely worth the investment, easy to work with, clear and regular communication and delivered a great result. Julie helped us with our dining and living areas including all furnishings, light fixtures, wall coverings and paint. She has our highest recommendation and we will definitely hire her for our next project!

Julie Maigret was introduced to me through a recommendation from a friend, and I have been so pleased with her vision and quality of service. She is truly talented. I have felt well taken care of, and have really enjoyed collaborating on the creative process that has brightened my home. She really listens, and we find ways to mesh her vision with my taste to flawless perfection. I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

I searched Houzz for a designer in L.A. and narrowed my search down to Julie Maigret. I have always loved design and am the daughter and sister of former interior designers but I knew I needed help and wanted fresh ideas. The photos of Julie's projects and the reviews by her other clients sold me. I was impressed that Julie was willing to take on smaller projects as well as large ones. I also researched her online and came across an article in the LA Times about her designs, especially the design of her own house which is a fabulous mid century done exquisitely in a modern style. I came across her blog and learned she has a passion for animals as I do. I figured she would know how to pick durable fabrics that would sustain the shredding abuse my cats subject to every upholstered piece in my house. My house is an old Tudor in Hancock Park and I started out thinking I just wanted to reupholster an old shredded 1980s Donghia sofa and my dining room chairs. Julie came for a consultation, spent some time in the living and dining rooms and as we talked, I felt she was able to visualize what I was hoping for, and I felt she could achieve something sensational. I realized I wanted a more modern, sophisticated, elegant but understated feel to the two adjoining rooms and the project grew from there. One of the first things Julie recommended was to replace the old silk puddled drapes in the living room with off-white window treatments/blinds that opened up the living room and makes it seem much larger, lighter/ airier with cleaner lines. Julie advised that you can find new sofas that are less expensive than reupholstering an old sofa. We ended up having her custom furniture maker/upholsterer make a custom sofa in a more modern style than the chunky old sofa with extremely durable fabric that the cats can't shred, and the price was amazingly reasonable. It is utterly elegant and indestructible. There was NEVER any pushiness on Julie's part to expand the project. As we worked together, she would make mild suggestions but I was the one that realized that certain pieces I already had in the rooms weren't going to achieve the look I wanted and I consulted Julie about replacing or removing them. She has amazing taste and fabulous resources. Julie always provided choices that included eBay and Etsy finds as well as mid-priced and high end pieces from furniture stores I had never even heard of. We found unbelievable bargains on eBay including Paul Smith Maharam and Perennials fabrics that are ordinarily very expensive. I confess that I splurged on a few high end pieces but saved a lot with Julie's discounts. Julie was able to work in a few old pieces that I wanted to keep. Julie has great relationships with her sources such as The Rug Company and passed on her discounts to me so that I was able to afford an amazing modern rug at a price I could afford. After the living room and dining room were completely designed with orders placed, I decided I wanted her to re-design our small den/family room. For that project, we used Room and Board sofa and storage ottoman, Room and Board tall storage cabinet, Flor carpet which is as gorgeous as it was inexpensive, and a jewel of a mid century swivel chair Julie found on Etsy which has been reupholstered in a Perennials plushy velvet fabric found on sale on eBay. The room is completely transformed into a functional, calming, beautiful room in grays and blues with touches of fuschia that has enough storage to hide DH's messy piles of "stuff." Yet every piece was reasonably priced. Julie picked out pillows, accessories, and gave me recommendations and feedback on art choices. I ended up choosing a fabulous photograph for one of the walls in the dining room. I had never chosen anything but original oil paintings for my home and Julie suggested I "mix it up" with different mediums which has added so much interest and character to the rooms. Julie had art pieces framed at unbelievably good prices. She taught me a lot about design but this one point really sank in: Don't settle on something unless you love it. You can find pieces that are well priced in your range. I'll add photos to his review soon.

I can't recommend Julie more! I am so lucky to have found her on this website. I had a good feeling after talking to her and seeing the work she has done in pictures and in person. Julie is extremely talented, knowledgeable, creative and fun to work with. She is also a really nice and interesting person. I learned so much from her and loved her ideas. She knows design and stores and helped me furnish our entire place. I liked to be very involved and she was totally fine with that. Julie was super responsive through email and text and that also made it really easy to work with her. I would not hesitate if you are considering hiring her; I couldn't be happier that I did. I will definitely hire her again when we move next time!

I met Julie during a pro bono project we were both working on, and I liked her immediately. I loved her design aesthetic, she was a pleasure to work with, a kept a cool head in stressful situations. I am always confident in recommending Julie; in fact, I have recommended her to several of my friends, all of whom have had nothing but great things to say and wonderful results. I know that she works very hard for her clients, and it shows in the finished product.

Julie is amazing. I needed to create an audition studio in Hollywood and was quite overwhelmed. Julie was the calm cool head I needed. She is extremely thoughtful in her ideas AND in her ability to listen to me as a client and guide me in the right direction, without making me feel like I was not being heard. My studio is by far the most beautiful studio in LA, in my particular industry. I cannot thank her enough for helping to make my dreams come true in such an elegant way.

I am familiar with her work both from my own house (where she massively improved my living room, master bedroom, guest bathroom, and dining room) and from seeing it in others' houses and offices.
