My first project with Jill went great. That's why it's been so disappointing that she's ghosted me this year after giving her a five-figure deposit for my master bedroom project in December.
The last I've heard from her was from June when she was going to let me know "in a few days" what was going on. Crickets.

I have a 3 bedroom condo that needed an almost total remodel, and as a middle aged man with limited interior design sense (I knew what the color Taupe was lol), I needed a lot of help. A friend of mine suggested that I reach out to Just Jill Interiors to help me with my project so I gave them a call. All through the process I was impressed with Jill's level of professionalism, her thoroughness, and her ability to somehow understand what I was looking for even though I wasn't able to describe or articulate it very well to her. She always provided me with a quality slate of various options, allowing me to choose the ones most to my personal taste. And she never flinched at any of my constant questions all through the job. I was 100% happy and satisfied with the services provided by Just Jill Interiors. If you have any interior design needs, don't hesitate to give Jill a call, you won't regret it.

My husband and I met with Jill at Just Jill in May of 2021 to discuss updating one large room including a kitchen, dining area, and living area. The main problem to overcome was that the space poorly represented us individually and definitely didn’t represented us as a couple. Jill spent a lot of time with us trying to understand our separate visions and developing a plan that worked for both of us. It didn’t take long for us to agree on which of Jill’s design ideas we liked best; she did a very good job of finding colors and styles that reflected both of our tastes. The end result, installed this month, March of 2023, surpassed our hopes for an updated, enlivened space, filled with color, with an emphasis on aspects of both our personalities throughout the room.
Jill heard when we said we needed more light in the kitchen and now it is a bright space with easily accessible pots and pans. We now have a stylish, new light fixture to go with the dining room table, seating bench and chairs. These all seem as if they will wear well and are multi-functional as some of the chairs have rollers and can be used in the living area. A great idea, I thought. As far as the living space goes; we have an exquisite new, very large sofa with fun throw pillows. Because we have a dog, we needed a sturdy fabric; Jill recommended a great outdoor fabric that is actually very soft. Plus, she arranged for us to have our sofa, rug, dining room bench and chairs treated for stain prevention after everything was installed.
On one large wall we have beautiful built-in-bookshelves, floor to ceiling, since books are an important part of our lives. Jill designed an art collage to be imbedded within the bookshelves. This may sound odd but it is one of my favorite parts of the room redesign. On another wall, we have gorgeous high-end tile to add interest behind the television that is mounted on the wall.
Also, a shout-out to all of Jill’s sub-contractors. They were vaccinated, wore masks, were polite, and arrived when scheduled. They were a pleasure to have in our home. I also want to give a double shout-out to Quinn who manages Jill’s business when she is occupied. Quinn was reliable and wonderful to work with.
The work is almost complete; still unfinished are the staining of the mantle under the tv and a glass shelf across a bay window for exhibiting set-abouts and plants. But we already really love how our living area looks, and are so happy we made the decision to do this. This was my first time hiring decorating help and I learned a lot from the experience. First of all, the process took an extremely long time to complete. Secondly, I learned to ask the price of things, which I didn’t do regarding the tile so we did have ‘sticker shock.’ I’m sure over time we’ll forget about that and will just enjoy its beauty.
I wish we could give 4.5 stars. Our regret was the length of time the redesign took to complete, however all in all we are very grateful customers.

Comment from Just Jill! Interiors:
Margaret, I am so thrilled that you were happy with the way the room came out!! That's what we strive to do!! I sure wish all the Covid aftermath issues of supply chain and staffing shortages didn't affect our timeline as badly as it did. I appreciate your patience and understanding and love that you're happy with the work we've done,
Jill was great to work with! She was professional and considerate. She gave me so many options to help stick with my lifestyle needs, style and budget. She listed every step of the way. I would absolutely recommend her and look forward to working with her again in the future!

We worked with Jill to remodel our Living Room, Dining Room, and Sun Room. Jill previously helped us redesign a home office. We are really happy with the results, and enjoy our new living spaces.
There are a few things that we enjoyed about working with Jill. First is that she gained a pretty good understanding of what we might like, but would never try without the help of an interior decorator. At the same time she understood what we would never go for. Second is that she has a really good sense of color and texture. Our new rooms all have an individual style, but all the items in a given room work together beautifully.
Finally, she has a knack for solving tricky design challenges. For example, our home office is not very big, but we wanted space for all family members to work at the same time. Jlll found a really neat solution. Or, after we added a new sun room, our dining room had to accommodate more foot traffic, and it was hard to find a place for a good size dining room table. She found a clever solution for that problem as well.

Just Jill was absolutely amazing to work with! The project was to redo my entire bedroom, including the bed, on a limited budget. We were able to stay on budget and Jill was a huge help! Jill worked very patiently with me and helped me figure out what I truly wanted in my bedroom to feel refreshed and relaxed upon entering, but within my price range. She helped me figure out what layout would work best in my room considering it's relatively small and helped me pick out materials that I fell in love with as well as decorations to make it feel a little more homey. I absolutely LOVE the finished product of my room and constantly find myself hanging out in my room to escape after a long day.

I found Jill by browsing through this site initially looking for advice on some paint and floors. After talking to her and getting to know her, I decided to trust her with a complete overhaul of my entire condo. I'm so happy that I did! Whenever guests come over, they walk into my living room and say "Wow!" She spent months getting all of the details right including being there personally for a few days straight at the very end during the move in period. Her stated goal was to have me walk into a home that was ready to live in and put my feet up and that's exactly what she gave me. When some of the contract paint was not happening up to her standards, she stepped in and communicated what was happening and even personally absorbed a big part of the costs because it was not something that she would put her name on. Truly great to work with and couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Just Jill Interiors completed a beautiful design for our family room. Jill has an amazing eye for design. She took the time to get to know our family, and our needs for the space as well as our likes and dislikes for colors and patterns. The final result is an amazing room that is practical and beautiful.

Jill helped me redo my master bath and did a great job. She has a fun personality and great taste for design. She put together three options which was perfect and then we changed a few things along the way. I already had a contractor; and, she worked very well with him also. I would definitely recommend her and will use her again!

We hired Jill to remodel part of our loft-stye condominium. She took great care to really get to know us as people to inform her recommendations - even interviewed my wife and I separately as well as together. Jill respected our budget guidelines - in fact the design we chose was the cheapest option offered, a pleasant surprise. We think the final product is striking and affords many unique "views", despite the relatively small space. See picture. We love the final result

"My fairy design mother", Jill is awesome. Upon our first meeting she kicked off her shoes "literally" lol and got to work. It's very refreshing to encounter and interact with an individual that genuinely loves their profession. This was evident in her excitement from the beginning to the end of the project. She was even offered a position by one of the local retailers :)
Jill far exceeded my expectations being comfortable taking creative control, without losing sight of my vision; therefore allowing me to continue my daily task without interruptions. I wanted my home to reflect my personal style and she succeeded by transforming my space from beige boredom to sexy chic. I recommend Jill to anyone that wants to give their home a facelift and have fun in the process.

Stay away from Just Jill! Interiors. Jill is unreliable. She told me that she was too busy to get back to me. She did not produce anything for me, yet she claimed that she had to keep her retainer anyway.

Comment from Just Jill! Interiors:
I have received only two other negative reviews in the many years that I've been on Houzz. Those reviews were one-sided but they at least told the truth from the client's perspective.
This review is nothing but lies. I am incredibly disappointed that Houzz did not pull it down when I explained this situation. Without going into all the details, here is where this review is wrong:
This client signed a contract with me on 24 March, 2012. Please note that this is OVER FOUR YEARS AGO.
I never told this client that I was too busy: I would NEVER tell ANYONE that I was too busy! What I DID say was that I had a death in the family and had to reschedule our appointment. Apparently, this was unacceptable to him. He did not want to reschedule. He did not want to see the designs. He did not want to see the fabrics. He did not want to see anything.
He did not pay me a retainer. A retainer is payment that ensures service.
What this client DID pay was a $100 non refundable deposit. $100. Non refundable. The client signed a contract that explained that this was a non refundable deposit. This section of the contract was explained IN DETAIL by ME at the time of signing. I told him that it was non refundable as it was used to pay for the fabric swatches, stain matches, etc that I would need for his presentation. Since I had completed the work, this money was spent on those items. Again, the client opted not to see these things as opposed to me refusing to share them.
When he realized he couldn't get out of his contractual obligation, he filed a complaint with BBB. The BBB voted in my favor and closed the case. He then filed a complaint with Angie's List. They pulled it after they realized he was under contract.
Houzz, however, is leaving this slander up and I'm spending time answering a complaint that is about $100 from four years ago instead of working on this nice couple's family room. I am so incredibly disappointed that someone can hide behind a keyboard and out of nothing by spite and malice besmirch my reputation. Even worse, I have no recourse and this venom will remain out on the web to poison the Best of Houzz Customer Service awards that I've earned these past few years.
I am so sad for this man who has carried so much hate in his heart for so long. I hope he is eventually able to move on from this. How someone could hold grudge so long and so hateful that they sign up for a Houzz page just so they can hurt someone's business and livelihood is beyond me. It just breaks my heart that this man has so little in his life that he has to focus on a four year old dispute that he lost. I hope that this festering in his gut leaves him soon and that he can get on with his life.
Finally, I hope that Houzz changes their policy when it comes to situations like this. A bad review is one thing. This is entirely something else.

Jill did a great job on our dining room. She also helped pick out paint for the first floor of our home and was spot on with what we were looking to accomplish. She takes the time to get to know you and your lifestyle. Her staff person is first rate and goes above and beyond (Yay Jane!). The only disappointment is that it took so long to get everything in - however it was certainly worth the wait. We will definitely be using Jill for future projects.

I had a consultation with Jill because I needed advice on multiple areas of my home. Her advice was wonderful. She is a big ball of energy and thinks out loud as she works. She gave me lots of advice for multiple areas of my home that I hope to work with her in the future to implement. She also spent time rearranging furniture and adjusting arrangements in bookcases. I am very happy with all her work and I will definitely call her for any future remodel or updates to my home.
Thanks Jill!

Jill is a dynamo. She is very professional and fun to work with. We had her decorate five rooms in our house from top to bottom. . . .paint, furniture, rugs, window treatments, lighting, floral pieces. She gets to know you and she presents you with color schemes, patterns and ideas that work beautifully together and turn out to be exactly what you want. She definitely made our house into a cozy, love to be in, home. Every room in our home has a "wow " factor!

My project took several months due to my walls being in bad shape. Jill allowed me to do repairs myself in order to cut some costs. I really appreciated this and her integrity.
Thank You Jill

We hired Jil to decorate our dining room entranceway and living room in the historic district of Raleigh. On our first meeting, she was very enthusiastic and told us she already had the dining room planned out in her head , So we hired her and told her that within two months we would be ready for all of this to happen because we were in the process of rehabbing a home in Oakwood. Wesigned the contract, and gave her 1000 , And then heard nothing. Absolutely nothing we sent several emails to her. Two of them were responded to with an automatic message. I am Alice I do this part time I will be in touch with you soon as possible. We called and got no answer. Our contractor called and got no response. We got one email asking when Jill could get in the house. this was after the several voicemails and emails. We then told her we had a deadline to pick out tiles and colors etc. nothing I finally sent her an email firing her and asking for a return of our $1000 since she had done nothing. Three days later she sends in a very preliminary plan with the statement that she has no time to come to Raleigh. This was a few months ago and to this day we had not heard another word from her. Needless to say we also have not gotten our thousand dollars back. Be very wary of this person. She talks A good game but there's no action behind it. We still would like to see our money back.

Comment from Just Jill! Interiors:
I was a bit perplexed when I read this review and have taken a few days to digest what actually happened.
Here are the facts as I have them documented:
Sunday, 31 May: I drove to Raleigh (yes on a Sunday) to do an initial meeting. During this meeting, there was a difference of opinion between the two spouses as to what I would actually be helping them with. I told them that they could just get back to me when they decided.
Sunday, 31 May: Project was offered to me and I accepted. I requested photos of the client's art that would have been inspiration pieces as well as a budget.
Monday, 1 June: Contract was emailed to the client
Friday, 5 June: Followed up with client as signed contract not received. Resent another blank contract as a back up. Asked for client to clarify job scope
Monday, 7 June: Client confirmed job scope via email
Wednesday, 10 June: Followed up again with client as contract still not received
Thursday, 12 June: Contract received via email. Received contact information for architectural firm. Gave client via email address for retainer
Friday, 13 June: contacted architect to find out how to enter home
Friday, 29 June: Retainer received
Friday, 29 June: Project budget requested
Friday, 29 June: Followed up with architect. Key code to get into home given.
Monday, 6 July: No budget number provided. Job scope seems to have changed? Style seems to have changed as well? Not contemporary any more? Clarification needed.
Tues, 7 July: Project site visited (first appointment after vacation). Measurements and photos taken
Wed, 8 July: Design day: floor plan for dining room (included cabinet design, window treatment design, art placement, area rug and table sizes. Paint color jump point as well as fabric and stain color start point. One living room floor plan created (included book case and drapery design, art placement, furniture size and placement, rug size and placement, paint start point)
Sun, 12 July: client emails pictures of new mantle and dining room table just purchased; completely different style than originally discussed. DR design will need to be completely done. Keep FR? Client email requesting paint colors and a meeting for this week as they will be in state.
Monday, 13 July: Emailed client that cannot come to Raleigh with only 24-48 hour notice. They are leaving Th, my schedule is open for Friday.
Tuesday, 14 July/Wed, 15 July: working after hours on design rework.
Wed, 15 July: email client scans of design: two dining room and family room. detailed email included about the design details.
And that was the last communication I had with them. I was really confused that they never contacted me directly after receiving designs to discuss. I was never fired from this job. I provided exactly the information that they asked me to provide. And it was done so in a timely manner.
This client disappeared from my radar months ago only to reappear here in a public forum and ask for a refund on a service that was already provided.
Yes, I had a summer intern who worked part time but never did the time lag come from my office.
I would have loved to have seen this through to the end. But I can't go when I have no direction.
I wish them all the luck in the world in their future endeavors.

I have had the pleasure of working with Jill both in a professional (as a decorative painter) capacity and as a client. During a recent move I called on Jill to help me with the palate for our new home.. and it had to be chosen quickly. She came on the run and though I had a good idea of what I wanted, Jill helped me feel confident in the choices and to make the home truly "us". Jill put her finger on great colors right away and has been invaluable in selecting fabulous light fixtures for us and we love the end result! Jill really "got" what we wanted, knew her stuff and kept it in our price range.
We could not be happier with the way our home looks... Much thanks to Jill!!

I met Jill at a Home Show and we clicked when I talked about the possibility of remodeling my living room, family room and kitchen. She was exceptional! Had me pegged when it came to colors and when she showed me a palette I hadn't expected she nailed it! She was on top of the project from day one (October 2012) through finish (Jan 2013) She literally oversaw all the little details that cropped up on the project. Her choices for color, furniture, workmen, and decor were perfect. I often sit in my family/living room now and just smile. Loving the colors, the style and the peace it has brought me.

We wanted a professional opinion on purchasing a new couch and instead got a beautiful new room! Jill took the time to learn what I really wanted (needed!) out of our family room and transformed it with new colors for the walls, recommendations for repositioning of the pictures on the walls, a new wonderful sectional and really cool rug. We also have plans for changing more in the future in phases. The room now allows me to relax and unwind at the end of a long day of chasing the kids around. Jill was professional, very accommodating, reasonably priced and super easy to work with. I highly recommend her!!

I met Jill at a home show. Since I am not married, my home is very typical bachelor--I haven't bought anything since college and that was over 25 years ago. She was really easy to connect with and I felt at ease immediately. She worked wonders on my living room. It's really amazing how she not only saw the potential but that she made it happen. The room is good for my buddies to watch to come over and watch basketball but really comfortable for my dates too. Since then, I've hired her to do the guest room and the dining room. Kitchen is next. Don't hesitate to hire Just Jill. She's great.

Just Jill! is Just Fantastic! She understood that any given point in time I would be working with a limited budget. But she always has given me a grand plan for each room I have had her work on and then we have worked our way through the room to get to the end product...$1,000 at a time! I appreciated that she has the patience to help me make my house a warm and inviting home for my family! We just finished off my dining room...and now we will turn our attention back to the bonus room....

I found Jill at the Home Show. She took time to get to know me before recommending anything. I had a totally dysfunctional huge family room that she transformed into the nicest gathering area in the house. We just sold our house in less than 2 weeks, and I think this room was key!

Jill has done four rooms for us over the past few years the last being a complete redo of our family room and conversation nook this summer. She has also done two guest rooms and our master bedroom and master bath. We have been so pleased with her assistance in turning our house into a comfortable home just suited for my wife and me. Everyone who visits has had nothing but compliments for her taste and style.
Each project required custom furniture and furnishings. Jill stayed on top of the vendors and ensured each item was of the best quality. Except for a couple of late items due to vendor errors, everything was delivered on time and within budget.
Jill's services provide great value. The high quality US-made furniture will last for years and not go out of style. She is a great person to work with. I think she knows our tastes better than we do!
We highly recommend her.

I hired Jill after meeting her at a home show. She finished work on my beach home this past spring and we are set to start my local home after the holidays. I came across this review of Jill and found it quite inaccurate. Jill is absolutely one of the easiest designers I have ever hired. Her enthusiasm is matched by her knowledge and if left to do the job hired, her work is breathtaking. She works completely alone--just her. She is delightful and talented and I could not be happier with my decision to put my faith and my childhood summer home with her. I recommend her highly.

I met Jill at the Raleigh Home Show March 2012 and signed on for a follow up discussion regarding a living room makeover at her booth. Jill comes off as having great energy and enthusiasm but this later just showed up as lack of business skills and professionalism. Jill contacted me shortly after the home show and we had a phone interview in which she asked about our project and our lifestyle. We then schedule an appointment for April 21st for Jill to come to our house whereby we formally entered into an agreement of service to include: designing 3 floor plans, furniture selection, material selection and purchase, fireplace upgrade (new stonework and closing up TV ledge), and some possible painting. She was told the budget of the project. After obtaining a non-refundable $100 deposit I did not hear from her again until late May and the excuses began. She did not make it to that appointment and called last minute because of a flat tire. She didn’t reschedule b/c her family was going on vacation. The next time I heard from Jill it was June 7th. I asked her at that time before proceeding whether or not she had time for this project as things were not moving at the pace I expected. She assured me all was good. At the June 7th meeting we came away with a floor plan, made final selections on a rug, side table, couch and 2 side chairs. Jill was to do follow up by scheduling a meeting with her contractor to see what could be done about the fireplace and also follow up on other items of furniture that were still needed for the space: recliner which was a key must have for the floor plan and a TV cabinet. After taking a substantial down payment and payment for her services (my mistake for not reviewing the details better) Jill just disappeared. By late July, after no contact from Jill, I tried contacting her daily via email and voice messages at her office. It was not until my husband posted a message on her Facebook account that she finally got back with me. More excuses. According to her, for two months her email and voicemail systems were not working. Proof of no business sense. Why did I have to hunt her down in the first place? She should have been keeping in touch with me. August 30th I insisted we meet. At that time I find out that there was a problem with the fabric selection for the 2 side chairs that I thought were ordered back in June along with the couch. Because of the material issue they were never ordered and nor was the couch as it was coming from the same company. The only items that had arrive were a rug and a side table. Jill did nothing with my project from June until August and never kept me abreast of any issues. In an attempt to make up for things she gave me the contact information for her contractor so I could set up an appointment with him to look at our fireplace and give us ideas of what to do and a quote for work, she gave me the contact information for a representative at the Closet Factory so I could make an appointment with her about the TV cabinet and she sent me a picture of what she thought would be a good choice of stone for the fireplace. Thanks for the contact information but isn’t a designer suppose to be there to take control of the project to make sure it comes out correctly? I thought that is what I paid her for. Her contractor never did responded to my inquiries. On September after not receive materials that were promised to me after our August meeting I wrote Jill and told her not to move forward on this project anymore as working with her was too painful. My room is still missing ½ the furniture and accessories it needs to be completed. It is now September 28th, 6 months after starting on this project and I have nothing to show for it except a hole in my pocketbook. My requests to come pick up the rug and side table so I can use the wood tone of the table to match the TV cabinet and finish this project myself have been left unanswered. Do not be pulled in by Jill’s robust personality and if you do advance with great caution and trepidation. Do not allow her to charge upfront for services she has not performed or like me she will leave you for other things. She is unorganized and lacks the ability to multitask. Possible litigation is pending if we cannot work things out between us. I have only requested that she hand over items that rightfully belong to me and have been fully paid for at this point.

Comment from Just Jill! Interiors:
I always appreciate feedback about how to improve my services to clients. "Making you happy to be home" isn't just a tag line for me. It is truly how I run my business. I take on clients who I feel that I can help and that will allow me to do so. Once in a while, I let my love for the space blind me to a the fact that this is simply not a client for me. I see a great potential and mentally start work. I am complete oblivious to the fact that client has given me nothing to go on in terms of what they like and how they want their space to flow.
Here is a great example. This client and I were just not a great fit. I loved the space and just didn't listen to my conscience when it told me that I should refer her to someone else.
Once I realized that I was simply not able to do my job and that both of us were unhappy, I returned each and every penny that this client had paid me. This not only included money for the four pieces of furniture that she purchased but also every cent she spent on my time. I released her from her contract and wished her well despite legal objections. I wasn't asked to do so. I just did it.
And yet, this review was written after she received the payment. A complaint was also sent to the Better Business Bureau and Angies List. Both of these complaints were dismissed because I handled it quickly, professionally and on my own without any prompting. Houzz doesn't allow this to happen. It should be noted that Angie's List has this listed in their "Review" section but not in the complaint format that it was originally submitted in.
I am the first person who will tell you that it's imperative to have a great repoire with your designer. She cannot do her job effectively if you don't let her in...physically and emotionally.
If you let me help you, we can come up with some great stuff. And I hope you do. If however you find someone else that you click with, by all means, that's exactly where you should go.
I wish Mrs. Fleming the best of luck in her project.
