I worked with Kanika Design a boutique interior design company for several years. While working there I was able to work on all aspects of the design process, had a lot of hands on experience. Kanika is an extremely talented designer, and I can't recommend her enough! We bought a house in March 2020 - signed the contract days before covid stay at home orders. My husband and I then spent two years working from home together in our front room (we call it the study now) without any rhyme or reason, just putting our desks wherever they fit, because it all happened so quickly. It was awkward and ugly, cords and monitors everywhere, and not a great look for people walking in our front door. The whole time, I was thinking, "when this is done and at least one of us goes back to the office, I want to make this room into a nice space to read and relax, and also to WFH when I have to." That's where Kanika comes in. I tried changing the place up on my own, but every choice I made seemed to make my space uglier and more awkward. It was time to hire a professional. That decision was worth every penny. In the end, my project turned out to be slightly bigger than just one room. I enlisted Kanika's help in choosing flooring, baseboards and paint for the whole house, furniture for my entire downstairs (we were still using the old living room furniture left by the previous owners), and light fixtures throughout. She was easy to work with and understood immediately what I was going for. My study is a real showstopper now - the walls are this deep blue color that looks amazing, she designed a gorgeous custom bookshelf that makes perfect use of the space, and she picked a couch that is the perfect size, just the right color, and so comfortable. And we still managed to get a desk in there for those WFH days. Literally just the other day, I was on a Zoom with someone and thought "this room behind me is so pretty, it looks like a fake background." But it's real, and in my house! And it wouldn't have happened without Kanika. The paint color she helped me pick for my bedroom is something I never would have chosen on my own, but I still regularly think about how nice it looks whenever I go in there. Same with the color of the living room couch, I'd never have found it on my own, but now that I have it, I love it. She knows her stuff. Kanika's husband Adi runs the business side of things. He managed the project, hiring contractors and keeping everything on schedule. The work was done on time, and he kept us in the loop, patiently answering any concerns or questions. And, no shenanigans with the final cost. Really, hiring Kanika Design was a great decision for us.

Kanika redesigned our office, living, and dining room which were the least used rooms in the house. We met with multiple designers and chose Kanika because of her initial design vision, connection while communicating, and reasonable cost. I appreciated the amount of detail in the contract which defined scope of work and the workflow. During the design portion, Kanika was very patient with the (in)decision process of a husband and wife with divergent design ideas and always had alternative choices to keep things moving forward. We bought our new home. I very carefully chose and placed furniture that I loved. I bought delightful window treatments. But something huge was missing -- the art and accessories. This has always been an issue for me. I have no confidence in decorating, and so I don't do it. Now that there's Pinterest, perseverating over the millions of ideas only serves to lock in my paralysis. It was finally time to seek professional help. Kanika came highly recommended. Because I had a limited project scope (art, lamps, rugs), I enlisted her services for a half-day. I was prepared with art I already had, both framed and unframed, and a Pinterest page with some ideas of things I liked. Kanika came ready to listen, observe, and work. Kanika Design helped us to design the interior of our home in spring/summer 2015. My wife and I chose them because -- after just one meeting -- we could tell how personable they were, and we had a very clear picture of what the overall design process would be like. Our design plan included some remodeling, and Kanika’s trusted contractor did an excellent job. He was very friendly, got his work done on schedule, and the final result was great. Once the remodeling work was done, the furniture and artwork was ordered, and Kanika managed that process so that deliveries could be made on a schedule that was convenient for us. During a time in which my wife and I had to travel, Kanika even offered to come to our home to receive the deliveries so that the items wouldn’t have to sit outside our house while we were out of town! During the final setup, Kanika, Adi, and their trusted contractor all came to our home to build all the furniture and install all the pieces. When my wife and I saw everything finally come together for real right in front of our eyes, the result was nothing short of spectacular. By the time our project was complete, my wife and I were a bit sad to see Kanika and Adi go because they had almost become like friends to us. We won’t think twice about recommending them to our friends and contacting them again if we ever need more interior designing work done in the future. I hired Kanika for a 1/2 day session to help pick interior colors for a light remodel project on an old Craftsman style home. I know my limits and interior decorating is not my cup of tea... heck I'm color blind which made Kanika's job even more challenging! Kanika's "Designer for 1/2 a day" solution is a very cool idea for people like me who have a ton of their own ideas but need to run those by someone who has done this many times before. Kanika was professional, and she helped us pick out the perfect tile for our fireplace and also the paint color for the wall behind it. The fireplace looks amazing! She also helped us with some ideas for the dining room and kitchen.
