Karen's knowledge and expertise with color are simply unsurpassed. She did a marvelous job picking colors for me that would bring together the diverse elements of my home. She is budget conscious and practical, also - qualities not frequently found in a decorator. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants a seasoned eye cast on their plans.

I love Karen's enthusiasm and passion! She has helped me out of many tight spots with her color consultations after I have picked the tile, carpet, cabinetry, and other important elements within the room. And of course, the paint color is the cohesive component to the entire design process. Karen will come to your house with all of her thousands of paint colors swatches and always selects (with my feedback) the perfect color to use. I feel she is of great value and worth the investment!

Karen is a totally delightful person who brings a wealth of knowledge to her clients. Her personal appearance is flawless and she is a patient and good listener. We have worked with Karen several times over many years, mostly asking for her help in choosing paint colors. Our most recent experience was asking for her assistance in a total remodel of a two-story town home. Our biggest concern was the main living floor, which encompasses a sweeping open floor plan, so the colors needed to flow together gently. Karen knows how to listen to her clients wishes and produces exactly the results that you are seeking. Her patience is amazing. We are thrilled with the colors in our town home and have received many compliments on how perfect it looks.

Karen is a joy to work with - very patient and returns calls and emails promptly. She has a wonderful eye for color and offered us helpful suggestions. We worked with her several years ago, and we went to her again recently for assistance in updating our bathrooms. We went away for a few months, and Karen stepped in to assist in ordering and selections in our absence. If another project arises in our household, we will definitely go back to Karen!

Karen and I have been working together for more than 10 years, during which time we've completely designed 3 houses (1 new and 2 remodels). She was first introduced to me by my builder in 2002 because I needed help making every choice imaginable for a new home that was under construction. Karen Fazekas came recommended by a colleague who saw how frustrated I was with choosing paint colors for my entire downstairs which has some rooms with continual low light and others with light that changes during parts of the day. All of the rooms - living room, dining room, kitchen, entry hall, up and downstairways are open to each other. She put my mind at ease on the phone. When she arrived, her professionalism and expertise were immediately evident. She worked with me non-stop through the difficult process of blending rooms and paints for three hours. I was exhausted and exhilarated that it was all done. She was upbeat and energetic throughout. The colors were beautiful and subtle and changed wonderfully with shifting light. She provided me with the chart of the paint types, colors and sheens and where they would go. It was pretty complex and she consulted easily with the painter I hired. My experience working with her has been one of my most rewarding!

Karen's design advice has been a life saver for me during both my home and my pediatric office renovations. Her magic with colors, her skills in listening to my wishes and her connection with local artists all came to together to produce most wonderful final projects.

I worked with Karen on several projects. The most significant projects involved choosing paint colors although she also provided invaluable advice on curtains and rugs. Her knowledge of colors is detailed and creative. She explains her thought process as she helps the paint selection process, leaving the listener with a wealth of unexpected information. She is always upbeat and supportive. Her pricing has been reasonable and within expectation. As our house evolved, she helped us find common ground to finish our home’s interior, transforming it into a beautiful, welcoming and relaxing home. She did this by keen observation of our individual preferences, which appeared on the surface to be worlds apart, and working them into our unified love of the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. The result was the creation of everyone’s favorite entertainment location. I consulted Karen again when my mother downsized and moved into a lovely condo which was in desperate need of updating. Again, she listened carefully to my mother’s wishes, took into account the furnishings in the home that she was leaving, and figured out how to make everything work in the new location. She even made a trip to ensure that the effect of the sunlight would work with the new color schemes. The result was one that I never would have conceived, and was a delight to my mother and all of the many people who visited her in the new home.

I hired Karen to help me during our kitchen renovation, to select paint colors that would work throughout our first floor (all the rooms fed into each other). Colors that would also compliment our existing furnishings as well as the kitchen (counters, back splash, and cabinets) which is open to the family room. Not an easy job, but Karen was so professional and worked tirelessly to come up with a perfect combination that is both elegant and calming which is what I was looking for. Karen is a delight to work with and has a terrific eye for color. I love the color on the wall no matter what time of day it is. Karen also helped with selecting pendants for over our counter and a dining room chandelier. I suppose you could say I'm a satisfied customer. I look forward to hiring her for future projects. My tiny apartment represented a challenge. It was created out of what was once an entire house. It is an apartment that has "character". My windows look out onto the Chesapeake Bay and I wanted to be sure that the colors did not intrude on the view. I was also looking for a "happy" palette, something that would make me and anyone who entered smile and relax. Karen chose some colors which surprised - and ultimately delighted - me. She worked with my decor, items in my house and with the view to choose colors that would reflect a subtle joy and sense of well being. Perfect. And she was able to recommend a painter that was honest, did the job exactly as he promised and even cleaned up after himself.
