I would give Karen 6 stars if it let me! Karen is worth her weight in gold and then some! Hiring her was by far the best decision in our remodel process. From the first phone call, it was clear that she valued our opinions, desires and input and this held true throughout the entire project. She gave us several layout options to chose from, each drastically improving the efficiency and flow of the floor plan. Karen guided us through the selection of all materials and appliances, and passed on her discount whenever possible. Simply narrowing down the countless options was worthwhile as it can be overwhelming. She respected our values and budget, frequently offering creative and cost effective solutions while holding true to our vision. Her patience was exemplary as we decided to hit 'pause' before breaking ground due to the pandemic, and then didn't skip a beat when we were ready to resume. Karen truly understands every trade and helped to project manage the contractors, frequently communicating directly with them or coming on site to troubleshoot. She is intimately aware of the unique challenges the older houses in the Boston area can create. Best of all, her energy lights up a room and she is a delight to be around, which is greatly appreciated during a high-stress remodel. Where do I begin? Working with Karen was wonderful. Her design ideas are creative and clever, but she always kept practicality and our budget in mind. For example, she steered us away from an expensive tall cabinet suggested by the architect in favor of a more practical--and much cheaper--solution that met our needs perfectly. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of products and materials, and she understands the trades and the construction process really well. For us, that was key--she helped us anticipate possible pitfalls and ask the right questions of our contractor at key points along the way. The icing on the cake is her warm demeanor and sense of humor. It's clear that she loves what she does and cares about her clients. If I had more kitchens and bathrooms (!) I would work with her again in a heartbeat!

We are renovating two bathrooms and a kitchen without a general contractor. Karen made a design plan with step-by-step instructions. The detail of each design is amazing. Each one is customized to our specific needs and wants. Her knowledge is unsurpassed. There is no way we could be doing this without her. She is a Godsend.

My wife and I worked with Karen Walson on two different projects. A full bathroom redesign and a full kitchen redesign. In both instances she was extremely helpful in showing us best use of our spaces. We live in an old 100 year old colonial and didn’t want to make any structural modifications but needed to maximize use of the space we had. Karen was critical in helping us vision the new bathroom and kitchen. She helped us pick cabinets and countertops and tiles to fit our budget. She was instrumental in guiding us through decision making, which can be very stressful. She told us where we could save money and recommended when we should spend some extra money for that little extra touch. Both projects came out beautifully. We would highly recommend Karen.

Finding Karen through her web site was the smartest thing we did as new residents to the Boston area. She beautifully redesigned a 100 year old kitchen and a dated bathroom and helped obtain appliances, cabinets, tiles, etc. during the pandemic.
