Over almost fifteen years and 4 houses, Kat Nelson has given us unique, beautiful and functional spaces. Each project has had its own set of challenges and somehow, she guides us through the whole process gracefully every time. Interior design is so much more than creating pretty rooms, it’s about how you will live in the house. Kat thinks about the things that I wouldn’t always consider and it’s those things that make all the difference in the world. If a sofa isn’t comfortable, she won’t present it no matter how beautiful it looks. She thinks about things like how the fabric on the family room sofa will wear over time, the functionality of hooks in the bathroom, the utility of a hanging mirror thoughtfully placed so you can check your lipstick before you run out of the house. After each project is done and dusted, I am left with beautiful spaces that are made to be lived in and feel just like me. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

We recently completed our first major design project using Kat Nelson Designs and we are extremely happy with the results! It was our first time working with an interior designer and Kat expertly walked us through this process. Our project initially involved designing our family great room including breakfast area and kitchen. We were so happy with results that we decided to design our formal dining room and powder room as well. Kat also helped us with a bathroom update. Her ability to source unique furniture, lighting fixtures, rugs and accessories is remarkable. She brought in great texture with custom drapes and pillows. Kat was even able to connect us with a local artist to commission original artwork that would fit our space. Being new to the design process, it was sometimes difficult to fully appreciate a designer’s vision. Often times fabrics and patterns she presented were not what we would normally have chosen. By stepping back and putting our trust in her trained eye, we were able to see how her decisions fit into the overall design plan and our vision for this space. We are glad we put our trust in Kat, because the results are amazing! This overall project has been a long time coming and we truly feel she has converted our house into a home! We look forward to more projects with Kat!

Kat Nelson is fabulous! She helped my husband and I decorate our great room, famiy room and breakfast nook. Both rooms turned out to be very beautilful! She really knows what she's doing. She also helped us pick out granite, tile, paint colors and a beautilful chandelier for our master bathroom. She responds quickly to questions via email and text and keeps things moving.
