We've worked with Kathryn on three extensive remodels over the last decade. One of which was featured on the cover of House Beautiful. We operate out of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Northeast Wisconsin; so all our projects together have been done long-distance. We go to the job site and take photographs, complete detailed measurements, and topographical surveys if site work is required, we send them to Kathryn and her team and she sends back finished plans, which we then execute. Its takes experience on both our parts to make a plan seamless even when working a seven hour plane-trip away. Kathryn and her team are great at keeping everyone (both homeowners and contractors) up-to-date and in the loop. Kathryn has an amazing talent for design detail. We've seen her professionalism, attention to detail, and vision for a space bring homes to their full potential. We've worked with Kathryn enough to trust her instincts and we look forward to the next inspiration she will bring to the project. Kathryn provided a level of design and standard of care for our project that is rare and unexpected. She really helped us visualize the project and provided complete clarity for all of the many moving parts and possibilities. I purchased an apartment in NYC and needed to find the right person to do The Apartment Design, Selection of Furniture including Architectural Salvage Pieces so my apartment would feel more authentic to the building. I choose Kathryn Scott Design as I looked at her works and realized that she would bring a level of professionalism and an eye for detail that others did not have. Kathryn did an amazing job and my home came out more beautiful than I could even have imagined. I really enjoy showing people the finished work, all the custom features and hand picked finishes. When I look up Interior Design in the dictionary, I see Kathryn's photo. I can't say more than thank you to her and her office staff for taking care of all the details for me. Kathryn and her team were incredibly professional and fun to work with. But the real joy is in the home she designs for you. I'll just share a note I wrote to her after actually living in the new space (a Brooklyn brownstone): "Kathryn--After 3 months living here, I just wanted to tell you that being in this house is like a dream. I never knew I could enjoy a physical space so much, and that a house itself could make me so happy. I wake up rested from blissful sleep in a perfect bed, and open my eyes to warm light and gentle colors. I cross into a sunny, serene bathroom to brush my teeth, and then walk downstairs to a kitchen that reminds me of the sea. I make coffee for Lisette and we talk work and world; she heads out and I roll out to the deck to read my paper surrounded by trees, plants, and the muted sounds of city life. Then I go down to a rustic office, whose warm woodiness is an anchoring counterpoint to my abstract work. I take meetings with talented entrepreneurs at the intimate table in my rich and airy parlor; the grandeur and comfort of the room just seems to make people think better and aspire to better ideas. We eat dinner as a family back in the kitchen, our son and nephew crawl all over us and our friends at the big table while we break bread and drink wine. I take the kids to play video games in the den, where my son prances around in his superhero outfits and bounces on the couch and ball chairs. We retire once again to the bedroom; the worries of the day dissolve under the glow of the birdcage lamp. Lights go out, and the moonlight glow from the bathroom serves as our night light while we drift off to sleep. This place is magical."
