Kathryn is truly the best of the best and helped us transform our home from ordinary to outstanding! Hiring a designer is a big decision and one that we debated for a number of months. After looking at numerous stores, houzz, HGTV and other places we were left overwhelmed and lost. We knew what we liked, but couldn't put it all together in a way that made sense. Kathryn has now helped us with two phases of our home design which included updating the entire first floor. She helped us to tweak our layout and make our home truly cohesive from chandeliers, to furniture, cabinets, countertops, paint colors and overall design. She was able to incorporate all our own ideas and helped push us in directions we never would have thought of and we absolutely love the results. She worked closely with our contractor and subcontractors to make sure the projects finished exactly as we planned, which helped to greatly reduce the stress of coordinating everything. We won't go through another renovation or home project design again without her. She is well worth the investment as now we have the space in our home that we dreamed of. Kathryn was a pleasure to work with for our complete kitchen remodel. To start, she drew out several designs for us to choose from and provided opinions on what she felt would work best (and why), while taking into consideration any wishes we had. Once we had a general design finalized she helped us think through a more detailed plan for cabinet layout and walked us through the desicion making for all the little details. She offered several options for us to choose from when we didnt have anything in mind, and helped us find a more budget friendly option for a pricey tile backsplash we fell in love with. She purchased (and mangaged returns) for all the materials (outside of appliances) and by doing so was able to share her discount. We were very pleased with the GC that she recommended and it was great that they had open communication during the entire process. Kathryn is, without question, the very best. What we found working with Kathryn is that she is incredibly knowledgable, no matter the phase of the project: imagining a perfect kitchen, creating a design, adjusting to the inevitable quirks and anticipating challenges and costs. When you visit supply stores and warehouses with Kathryn, the staff knows her; and she knows them and how to select different products (from appliances to cabinets, from faucets to door handles, from the best countertop surfaces to light fixtures). Plus, she is so friendly that shopping with her is stress-free and even a pleasure. Last (maybe), she pays so much attention to details --- she doesn't miss anything, including even the tiniest scratch on a new stainless steel door. Great consultant, great designer, great professionnal, and now, a great new friend.

Great designer across all aspects - from color, materials, architecture, electrical, plumbing etc. I highly recommend working with Kathryn. Being an HGTV and Houzz fan I decided to pull the trigger and upgrade my condo to make it classier looking in the style/s I like. My goal was to blend some midcentury modern with contemporary, even industrial. I wanted to take some limited risks with professional advice and I was on a relatively modest budget. So here are the key things for me: 1. Personality: I needed someone patient and easy to work with. I can get what is a great idea but it often needs tempering and I can change direction in a short time. I needed someone who could listen, get the gist I was after and then work with me in a nice 50-50 partnership. Kathryn was so patient, really seemed to get what I was after and able to follow me through some of the twists and turns. She is upbeat, always positive and attentive. I was going to interview three designers but I liked her so much from the beginning I just ran with her. 2 Professional: One of the prime drivers to use a designer is to have someone who knows the many many options on materials, colors, textures and how to blend them. A designer also knows the necessary contractors and their skill levels and reliability plus where to get materials and décor. Saves me going through Angie's list and interviewing a dozen subs. We went through two different bids on the main work to get the price into my limited budget. I always felt that even though mine was a small budget project she treated it as important as any of the large projects you see here. I was working with about a $12,000 budget not counting furniture and décor. 3. Style: I picked Kathryn because I liked a lot of the work I saw here which was in-line with the things I wanted to do. Most of what I wanted to do required resurfacing walls and electrical work, no major reconstruction. I wanted updating and upgrading the look of my otherwise very nice condo. 4. Actual experience: Was totally fun from the beginning. I would do lots of searches on Houzz and other places for ideas both before and during our initial consultation and Kathryn would give her advice on each choice, the positives and negatives. The materials selection process was quite enjoyable as we went through samples and discussed the ultimate look and feel. We also made serious budget decisions such as NOT refinishing kitchen cabinets and put the money in other places. Some things like furniture and décor we partnered on or I got advice and ordered. I would send selections via email or text and get her opinion. It was a pleasant team effort. In the end Kathryn honed many of my ideas from a bit too aggressive or excessive to doable and was still advising me on the furniture and décor months later till it was complete. You can see some of the results. In summary I strongly recommend Kathryn for your project. You will feel like you are working with a knowledgeable friend who cares about your project as much as you.
