Kelly Smiar Interior Design

I have had the pleasure of working with Kelly Smiar on various projects since 2004. Kelly is always professional and her knowledge is exceptional. Her attention to detail and needs of the client always results in a beautiful and tasteful design. The best thing about working with Kelly is she makes every project fun and exciting.

I remodeled my kitchen March 2016 and was fortunate enough to have located Kelly Smiar. She was a referral from the excellent cabinet maker, Mark Klindt who created the cabinetry. Both Kelly and Mark work and communicate very well together which is an asset if you want the very best design. Aside from Kelly"s affable personality, she was responsive, insightful, creative and knowledgable. She created the design, fine tuned it, created the backsplash, assisted with hardware and appliance purchase, designed areas to allow maximum light and created a fabulous kitchen working space with spacious 30" pull out drawers which are a favorite. Aside from beautiful aesthetics, I have a wonderfully functional kitchen where workspace is maximized and movement is fluid. She was honest, jovial and supportive throughout the project, responding quickly to text and phone inquiries. If you can arrange for her to work with you to design your kitchen of dreams, you have hit the jackpot. A grueling project will be made pleasurable.

Working with Kelly has been a wonderful experience. She has transformed our home of 31 years into an incredibly beautiful place. Our well loved and lived in home contains so many rich memories of our children growing up and it was important to me to maintain that feeling of home. Kelly was able to capture the warmth of our home and create an atmosphere that maintains that warm home feeling, yet the beauty and functionality of a new space. Kelly is an absolute pleasure to work with, full of joy and creativity!

Kelly is awesome. I was hesitant to get a designer at first but I'm so so so grateful that I did. She listened. She completely understood our esthetic. She recommended lights and fixtures that were spot on what we liked. She met us to pick out everything and in the end, we had such trust we just asked her to pick out things for us. I can't say enough great things about her. I'd highly recommend her.

Kelly was great to work with on our large remodel house project. Her input and direction was invaluable. Kelly really knows all the key areas in San Diego to select unique décor. All of our tile selections really turned out nice. The kitchen, bathrooms and fire place are truly unique. She also did a great job with our window coverings. It was really nice to have Kelly Smiar to help solidify many detailed decisions and talk through ideas that would work to make our house beautiful. I would highly recommend Kelly for any future house project.

When I first met Kelly, I knew she was the perfect fit for us and we would work well together. She is easy going in terms of her approach to her clients, but very hard working at the same time. She helped us during an addition/remodel and her advice on things such as cabinet door choices, countertops and fixtures was very helpful. She gave us some great tips on ideas for a new master bathroom and we couldn't be happier with our choices - thanks to Kelly. We have used Kelly on two projects now. She came very highly recommended by a long-time professional in the design-remodeling field. There are not words to express how happy we were with her and her work. There are many good designers out there, and Kelly is one of them. However, what truly sets her apart is her desire and ability to give her clients not just what she knows will look good, but what will perfectly work for them. She really knows how to listen, how to do a beautiful and professional job, and how to give her clients exactly what they want. She's not only a top-notch professional, but she is a wonderful person as well: enthusiastic, caring, and with a great sense of humor. I'd give her an extra star or two if I could.

Kelly helped me design my Kitchen & Master Bath. She drew it up with all the measurements and gave me copies. Also she provided copies to the contractor. She met me at Stone stores to help me choose the stone & made suggestions. She also helped with the selection of the many appliances & accessories. She choose the color for the cabinets.

Kelly Smiar provided interior design services on our complete kitchen gut and remodel and the result is more than I ever dreamed it would be, in design and functionality. She worked with us from beginning to end and brought great value to the project. She worked with the architect improving the design, worked with the project designer on layout, communicated with the individual subs on things such as lighting placement and cabinet details, and worked with us on surfaces, colors, materials, etc. She even submitted and had our kitchen on the ASID tour. In addition, she worked with us to update our living and dining rooms. Kelly was absolutely fantastic on both projects! Our kitchen, living and dining rooms are gorgeous! She worked equally well with the generous budget we had for the kitchen and with the limited budget we had for the other rooms. She is professional, reliable, creative, enthusiastic and a pleasure to work with. Her work far exceeded my expectations! I give her my highest recommendation!

Kelly was wonderful to work with!! She has a keen eye and is very detail oriented which is critical in any large project. She also surrounds herself with very talented subcontractors that make the experience even better!

I have hired Kelly on several occasions. She is awesome! She has helped in my last three homes and has also recommended other great professionals. I know that she is my sister, but just ask her...I am probably her toughest and pickiest client! Last year I purchased my most recent home in Poway. Kelly helped me to design and pick out all the products, colors, and layouts for my remodel. Wow, my home looks great and I receive compliments all the time. Kelly is so helpful in assisting you make choices for the styles that you like. Also, as a real estate agent, I have to be careful who I recommend. My clients love her and her results!

Kelly Smiar is an exceptional designer who has helped us tremendously through our first remodel of our home. First of all, she is warm and patient, and she is able to understand what it is you are looking for and give suggestions while respecting your opinions. She is very talented and has a great eye for color and design. As well as understanding aesthetics, she is very knowledgeable about functionality, for example in designing a kitchen.
