Kim was an absolute dream. She was incredibly professional but also warm and easy to work with. She truly listened to me and was able to turn my vision into a reality. Kim was also very mindful of my budget and made great suggestions based on what I was able to spend. She also hired the best contractors to do the job and was able to get great prices on materials because of her vast network of resources. I can't wait to get the next project going with her.

Thank you! I appreciate your warm review! It was a pleasure to help you transform your kitchen and find ways to make your specific style come to life and markedly increase the functionality of your space while remembering the budget.
I'm looking forward to (virtually) doing your laundry room with you soon!

We worked with Kim Johnson for our home’s paint and drapery upstairs, and our basement renovation, including new kitchen and built-in entertainment wall. Stop searching, you have found the designer that does it all, with the most exquisite taste and vast experience. Kim is a professional with so much industry knowledge about kitchens. She held our hands from the start: went to vendors with us for selections, spent hours designing kitchen and built-in unit cabinet design layouts to present to us, reworking and improving designs based on our feedback. Kim knows electric, plumbing, lighting, flooring. Oh and Kim’s expertise with paint color selections is superb. She knows color, and walked us through many iterations of white until we decided on upstairs (BM Dove Wing) and the basement (BM Silver Satin). Most importantly, Kim listens to her clients. Kim made strong suggestions to us, but listened when I had different ideas (electrical outlets under the cabinets). She knows when to push on a feature (American black honed granite instead of white Calacatta Maggio Duo quartz) with the gray cabinets on our entertainment wall,) to entirely improve the look. She will sit and look at light fixtures with you, for as long as it takes, to find the right one. Kim remembers every single detail, to make sure your project proceeds smoothly with the contractor. She works from the heart, loves what she does, and it shows. It was a pleasure working with Kim every single step of the way. Thank you, Kim, for our stunning, classy, urban finished basement!

Thank you for your kind and generous review, Emma! It is always so fun and rewarding working with you but this latest project was especially fulfilling. Of course the most satisfying thing of all is that you both are so happy with your new basement!

With her exquisite taste and innate ability to understand your taste - Kim Johnson is the best interior designer I have ever worked with (and I have worked with a few). Kim listens to your ideas and turns them into a space that is so much better than you imagined. She follows a budget carefully and is considerate of constraints you may have. My favorite question from Kim - is that something you like?

I used Kim to help me elevate the atmosphere and interior design of our urban, open plan, row house. We had started the decorating with a few modern furniture stores but it was not coming together. Kim immediately identified the elements that would take it to the next level--wall color, furniture adds, rugs, lighting etc. The outcome was beyond my expectation. Everyone is wowed when they enter our home. Kim has the X factor for design and understanding clients' needs. She brings it all together with expertise and care. She will work within a budget and delivers far more than you would expect. I highly recommend Kim.

Kim Johnson has helped me on two design projects in two houses. The first was a kitchen and family room renovation. Kim walked me through the process and had the knowledge or design, color, products and contractors who could produce my dream kitchen. She guided me in making the best use of the space and making it look fabulous! The project was executed seamlessly and timely. Kim also helped me work long distance on a renovation of a 3 bedroom home. The design, colors, furnishings, light fixtures, fun accents and ideas she provided have all made the home functional and extremely warm and inviting.

Working with Kim is a joy. She helped me redo multiple rooms in my house on time and on budget. I had a jumble of ideas (many of them contradictory and overlapping) and she translated them into a coherent result that is beautiful and practical. She has excellent subs and trades people who deliver excellent quality work and are great communicators. From start to finish, it was an excellent experience. I look forward to working with her again.

Thank you, Kristen! You are a joy to work with too! I loved helping to transform your hall bath pictured below and giving your kitchen a facelift while you were out of town. And I hope the new dining room built-in (pictured below before counters were installed) will be as functional for you and your family as it is beautiful.

Fortunately for us, Kim had a much more expansive vision for the possibilities in our renovation than we had. Not only does she have a designer's eye for color, texture and lines, but she also is well-versed in the technical aspects involved in building/renovation. Kim was also respectful of our personal tastes and life-style. The end product is a comfortable and welcoming home - better than we could have imagined. Kim is a delightful blend of friendliness and professionalism - rather a rare commodity these days.

Kim spent several hours at my home and could not have been more professional or kind. She took time to listen to my ideas and then built on those to advise me on the best way to refinish my master bedroom and master bath. The end result is better than we ever could have imagined. She has great connections and had paint samples delivered to our door quickly so that we could make the final decision. She has tremendous vision for any room and knows how to incorporate what is important to you and still make it classy and beautiful. She was incredible to work with and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone.

Happy Birthday

Kim helped me renovate two bathrooms. I couldn’t have been happier with the results and the process! Kim was knowledgeable about the items we needed to purchase. Kim gave input on style choices and colors keeping my specific tastes in mind. If we ever decide to renovate our kitchen, Kim will be the first person I call! She is dependable, knowledgeable and professional.

Kim is the best designer I've done a project with (I've worked with 4 over the last 15 years. ) She's creative, passionate about the work she does, and down to earth. She held my hand though the whole process of measuring and designing my space to picking out every last item in it. It helped that she hooked us up with different contractors and knew where to purchase everything we needed. She knew how to take my tastes into account while still providing firm, clear guidance on issues I didn't understand. AND she also happens to be affordable! A total win-win.

I contacted Kim Johnson to assist me in a renovation of my 52-year-old 4-bedroom colonial style home in Western Fairfax,County. I needed some design help and got it! She opened my eyes to possibilities I'd not considered and helped me dispose of ideas that cost a lot of money with little potential return should I decide to sell at some point. I was impressed by her tear-down and install and paint crews - all highly professional people. I now have a brighter, more up-to-date, occupational therapy - approved home with a new, larger kitchen with matching powder room and open area to the updated family room, revamped upstairs bath rooms, consistent window treatments, a wonderful good-grade carpet and consistent trim throughout the house. We kept some wallpaper and some tile I like that works well with the new. We upgraded the pantry / laundry room and replaced HVAC and garage entry doors. The front door is more inviting and the patio posts are new. She even helped me hang pictures!
