Lara Hontzias Interior Design

Lara did the design for our complete main floor renovation of our 1960's bungalow. She understood our objectives, being a young family, and incorporated those objectives into multiple design layouts for us to consider. Lara was committed, organized and efficient when it came to design and decor. She worked within our budget and offered a variety of finishing within our price range. We fully trusted Lara to make our house into a home and it looks fabulous! We couldn't be happier with the final outcome. Lara was a pleasure to work with. We recently started a basement renovation and didn't even consider working with anyone else. Again, Lara has exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend using Lara for large or small projects. You won't be disappointed.

Lara was great from the beginning to end of the project. We were first introduced to her through a contractor so that they could put together a more accurate quote and even though we didn't go with that contractor she left such a good impression that we had to have her design our renovation. She listened to our input, was very flexible when it came to putting together detailed plans and was helpful when we needed to make some of the more difficult selections. All while being very efficient and reasonable with her rates. I will be recommending her to anyone I know looking at doing a renovation and will bring her back when we are ready to complete the remainder of the house.

We have worked extensively with Lara on 3 renovations. We changed the appearance of the house on the outside, renovated our 2nd floor and then our main floor. Lara is organized, reliable, and has a very professional approach. She is a great communicator who quickly got a feel for what we were looking for and put together ideas that matched our taste and preferences. Before long we came to have faith in her judgement and trusted her to make decisions on our behalf. She even helped manage the project while we were out of the country and kept everything on track. She approaches her work with a high level of detail and provided to-scale CAD drawings of all her designs which impressed many of the tradespeople who commented this level of clarity made their work go more quickly, especially with the complex custom kitchen cabinetry. She is well connected with different trades and suppliers which helped ensure we got quality work done while saving money. She was always available on short notice if there was an issue that needed to be resolved. For example, at one point we didn’t like the tile that showed up for the master bathroom and she was able to source replacement tiles to our liking within three days, avoiding any delay in our schedule. Lara takes pride in her work and we felt like we had a partner from beginning to end on each project. We have confidently recommended her to others who also had great things to say about her services. We plan to renovate our basement next and will definitely work with her again!

Lara was recommended to me by a professional contractor. Prior to the commencement of the project I had talked to other designers. My reasons for selecting Lara as my designer are many: firstly at our initial interview, she seemed genuinely interested in working with me on the design of my modest house. I was initially a bit intimidated by the scale and scope of some of her previous projects, but I became convinced that she would do a good job for me. Secondly, Lara was a delight to work with. For me, it was not really work at all, but a very pleasant experience working through the various choices to come up with the design solutions appropriate for my house. I was initially concerned about the working relationship between the kitchen cabinet supplier I had selected, (since they offered their own design services), and Lara, but on introduction, Lara's applied professionalism and knowledge made the relationship with the kitchen cabinet supplier a great success. Lara also offered her great sense of colour and finishes. The end result of the design, which extended beyond the kitchen and into the main floor of the house, was one of pleasant coordination and harmony. Lara was also instrumental in obtaining and indeed, transporting various items of material to the house. In this regard, I considered this to be going above and beyond expectations; she is a hard working professional. Altogether, during the some 18 months of this project (a timeline dictated more by cash flow than any reason attributable to Lara), it was a very pleasant, satisfying and happy experience working with Lara. I worked with Lara two years ago when planning a large renovation on our main floor. She was recommended by a friend and I never regretted working with her. Not only did she do my drawings but she helped me choose all the finishings. Working with Lara was like working with a good friend.
