Laurel Quint Interior Design

We approached Q Design with a restaurant in Charleston last year. It was a little bit of a tricky project. Charleston is a very competitive market with beautiful design everywhere you look. The restaurant needed to be completed quickly with design needing to use the existing bones as much as possible, to take into consideration the business we share a wall with and to have a unique spin on Asian. All red and lanterns weren’t going to be an option for us. What we ended up with was perfection. The mix of natural finishes mixed with vivid yellow and neon makes the space the perfect mix of edgy and warm. People comment all the time about how much they love the decor and feel at home in the space. That says a lot considering we play punk music at a near deafening volume and serve food from Sichuan. The experience was one that was considerate of not only the design but the relationship. We opened on time and to very high praise about the look & feel from the local press and our guests. We ended up hiring her to help with a few things for our house since she was in town and will definitely be giving her a call when we do our next project.

When we decided to build our home, we began the process by interviewing and selecting our architect, our interior designer and our general contractor. We believed if we could assemble a great team, we would give ourselves the best chance of creating a home we would love. In each case we interviewed three possible candidates, and Laurel Quint, as our interior designer, was the first selection we made. We both had some ideas about the type of home we wanted, but as we went through the process of completing Laurel’s questionnaire and having our first discussion with her, we recognized the sketchiness and inherent conflicts in our ideas. Laurel was fantastic at helping each of us clarify to our ideas and then reconciling these into a cohesive style that we were very excited about. In fact, as the process proceeded, we found ourselves placing more emphasis on certain aspects of the design that we had not foreseen when we began. The end product was a blend of our ideas enhanced by Laurel’s creativity and expertise. We worked with Laurel to create layers of detail that balance simplicity with depth that ultimately surprised and wowed us. We never would have imagined the end result or how pleased we were with the home we created. Throughout the process, Laurel was always communicating, providing us with the detail we needed to understand where we were headed and what was next. Financially, we always knew what we were committing to and when there were any variances to the plan. Laurel was always looking for the best value for our money, and regularly found opportunities to improve what we were trying to accomplish without increasing our costs. By the end of our project we had achieved a level of trust and understanding with Laurel that made decisions easy. Since moving into our beautiful home, Laurel has continued to help as we have added outdoor furniture and artwork. She has been a true partner and made the process a joy.

Laurel is very self-assured and has a very deep sense of design. She is a joy to work with and on our particular home she brought us a clear plan that truly reflected our desires and personal aesthetic. And kudos to her because my own aesthetic and that of my partners were not aligned but she managed to steer a course that was better than either myself or my partner could have charted on our own or together. Another stand out is her understanding of color. Thanks to her and because the colors she chose were particularly beautiful I was thankful to her every time I walked into a room. She is a true professional and I recommend her most highly.

Laurel helped us reinvent a featureless house 17 years ago. She taught me so much just by watching her assess our blank walls and bring in wonderful (and stunning) finishes. Now she has helped us reinvent a bathroom by imagining how windows could work in a limited space and picking beautiful tiles and offering us a wonderful contractor who has been part of the family. Laurel has stunning ideas, but she also understands budgets and listens to the client's ideas and acts on them. She is the best I have ever met.

It can be rare to find a designer that is skilled, educated and confident in selecting fie art for their clients. This is not the case with Laurel. She regularly makes sophisticated, and unexpected choices for her client's consideration. If she cant find what she is looking for she is not afraid to work through the process of commissioning the right work for the space/project. She is easy to work with, efficient and often has ideas that push the artist in and new and exciting direction. I would highly recommend LQID for creative adventures of any size.

Excellent design aesthetic. Incredibly knowledgable on home remodeling, construction, renovation. eco urban has had the pleasure of working with her on several projects and look forward to many more in the future. Communicative, creative, passionate. The skills you need as a successful designer. Laurel not only has them but defines them.
