Lord Design

The Lord team helped us with a new home build and did a great job with interior design, furniture selection, paint color and all kids of advice - you name it, they helped with it. The home turned out great and we really enjoyed working with Arlene, Kim and team.

Arlene and her team are real professionals. A rare blend of “down to earth” meets “total rock stars!” Their process is professional and complete for our clients.

Arlene has worked with me on several projects over the years, including living room and dining room, a kitchen refresh, and a playroom and child's bedroom which were written up beautifully in the Oregonian, to name a few. It is such a pleasure to work with Arlene and her staff and I look forward to working with them again as soon as I can make that pesky downsizing decision. ( The dates went from about 2006 to 20013 and the project cost estimate below was for multiple jobs.)

Arlene was such a delight to work with. We took an older home and restored and remodeled it with her help. She was so positive. She is a great listener and her resources are top notch. Her ideas for the master bath were genius. When it was time to place furniture in the house, she provided a fresh insight which was sorely needed. We will be working with her again as we make decisions about recovering and replacing furniture.

We love Lord Design! Arlene did a beautiful job on our house remodel 10 years ago; updated our playroom/upstairs 3 years ago for teenagers; and just remodeled our kitchen, laundry room, and wine storage. We've had Arlene help with decorating and organizing our entire house - including living rooms, dining room, office, guest room and kids rooms with paint colors, window treatments, flooring, fireplace tile, furniture and art. Arlene and the Lord Design team and their contractors are an absolute delight to work with! They all have fabulous attention to detail; ability to keep on schedule, and are great people to have in your home. They are very responsive, and easy to communicate with; keep the project on track and the least dusty/chaotic as possible. Seriously, not a day goes by when we don't thank Arlene and her team for something we love about our house. Look no further- you've found one of the best designers in Portland! We give her and her team the absolute highest rating and recommendation.

We loved working with Lord Design. Our goal was to add second bathroom into our tiny two-bedroom bungalow. Arlene and Kimberly remodeled the master and created a beautiful and tasteful bathroom that really meets our needs. We like the bedroom now more than ever and the bathroom is absolutely stunning. They put together two design options for us to choose from and they were open and responsive to any questions or changes we had in the process. They worked closely with the contractor, problem solving any design changes that were necessary. We will absolutely work with Lord Design again and have already recommended them to friends.

We recently finished a design project with Lord Design and could not be happier with the results. About 8 years ago we worked with Arlene Lord on a kitchen and family room remodel so we knew just who to call when we wanted to update our living room and powder room. Both Arlene and Kimberly were fantastic to work with. They translated my not terribly articulate ideas into stylish and comfortable spaces that turned out even better than I imagined they would. They are full of creative and helpful ideas and were very mindful of the budget we had set. I would hire them again in a heartbeat !

We started out thinking we wanted to modernize our kitchen and get a "Wow" factor to the new look. Instead, Arlene and her team realized what we really needed was a new kitchen/entry/living room that was fully integrated and came up with a plan that included taking down a wall. When we first saw the proposal, it was not only a "wow", but we both asked-"is this our house"? It was perfect. The appliances, granite countertop/waterfall effect, stone floor, walnut shelves, table and chairs all came together for a new look that completely modernized our home. It is functional, beautiful but still us. Arlene and her staff, Stephanie and Kimberley, were always available to answer our questions and address our concerns and understand our anxieties. Their working relationship with our contractor, Paul Hegarty and his subs was seamless teamwork. It truly was a single focused group, working with us by leading us to the correct choices. Would we do it again, unequivocally. Would we use Arlene again, no one else. Remodeling is never a fun process but we got far more than we had ever hoped for and we have Arlene and Paul to thank for that. Do you need a project done and are not sure what to do?Call them-they will figure it out better than you can .
