Lyn Schloer - Ethan Allen, Sandy UT

I went into Ethan Allen in Sandy today in hopes to find a coffee table for our new home. I am a return costumer having purchase many pieces before. Lyn Schloer helped me and asked what I was looking for. I told her and said that we just finished our Cape Cod style home. I showed her pictures of my front front room and the dining room that we already had furniture in. She told me she really disliked my couches and that my dining chairs were far from traditional. I thinks she called them Hollywood Glam and said that Marilyn Monroe would have them. She told me the furniture I currently have is NOT Cape Cod style and not even traditional. She told me that she COULD NOT help me why I have those current couches in my front room. She told me that they need to go in a basement or somewhere else. She knew that the couches and chairs were brand new. I asked her if she could help me style my front room, with the couches that we have, and she said that there is nothing that would work with them and to call her after I've done my homework and removed the couches. She told me that I should concentrate on my bookcases and maybe some artwork. Anything to take the focus off of my couches. I left there feeling awful. I have always loved Ethan Allen and have made it a point to try to shop there first. I drove up from Spanish Fork in hopes to have some help. Lyn completely hurt my feelings. She didn't have to couch shame me. Is that a technique to "up sale." That is not what I have known in the past from EA. I will not be returning to EA again. I have never felt so shamed and talked down to in my life. I left there and went to Pottery Barn and ended up purchasing a coffee table and barstools. The saleswoman was so incredibly nice. If you are considering going to EA. Do not have Lyn help you unless you want her to shame you and make you feel like you have totally messed your home up.

Our wonderful journey with Lyn began years ago when I was looking for a table in an effort to create a semblance of harmony in our greatroom. Luckily, Lyn was in the Ethan Allen store that day. She listened to my ramblings and ideas that day and helped me make the absolute correct choice. When we downsized and built a new home a few years later, she guided us through the process of furnishing a much smaller bedroom and open concept kitchen/ greatroom. The result is delightful! She is masterful! We have since tackled a basement room that had no redeeming qualities and doubled our living space. She listened carefully to our wish list and needs and created a beautiful, cozy space that we now spend hours in. We are currently working on a guest bedroom and home office. Lyn incorporates existing pieces and guides us through everything. I no longer have lamps that are too small and paint colors that are wrong. All is beautiful and functional and harmonies. We love our home and we owe that to our now good friend, Lynnette Schloer.

Lyn is THE BEST designer we have ever worked with. She is very personable yet professional. And she is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of design. I trust her completely with all types of decor. I can’t wait to build a home and have her help with every single design choice - from furniture to accessories to paint color and hardware. She is awesome. We hit the jackpot when we walked into Ethan Allen and she helped us with one small purchase. Since then, we’ve loved working with her on every room in our house. And have loved every single suggestion she’s given us. Plus, she’s never pushy and is just really cool!

Lyn is a joy to work with. She has helped me design the decor for 3 different houses across 6 years. She is knowledgeable, talented, and has an amazing eye for color. She has helped me choose furniture, fabrics, framing, art, and even the color of my stamped concrete driveway. I feel as though I could have made some big mistakes (for example, choosing the driveway color a bit too warm or a bit too color) without her help. Most recently, she helped me design a living room for a transitional home and, before that, a family room for a tuscan-styled home, all the while being sure to give it an up-to-date flair that still worked with the tuscan color scheme and design. And before that, she consulted me on another home that bordered on tuscan and french country. She has shown that she is good at consulting all genres of decor. Lyn has the keen sense of knowing innately what I love--patterns, colors, symmetry. She is a good listener and observer--so that she knows how far she can gently nudge me to be "on trend" while keeping me comfortable and feeling at home in my space. I have to say that, on top of her knowledge and talents and keen eye, the thing I love about Lyn the most is her kindness. We have become friends, and she is generous (probably overly-generous with her time), stopping by my home to look at a piece of art or fabric in the home or answering texts with numerous pics of things that I am considering implementing into my decor. I have bought several pieces of Ethan Allen furniture from her over the years (and have always been pleased with her guidance and the quality), and yet Ethan Allen products are not the only items for which Lyn will happily give advice. She has given me advice about all sorts of decor items, whether they come from Ethan Allen or not. I truly believe that Lyn cares about me as a person and that she cares about making me me love and feel at home in each of the rooms of my house for which I have asked advice. I should also add that Lyn does not try to overreach and push advice where advice is not asked for. I have never felt that she has tried to "up-sell" me. I feel that she has always tried to help answer my advice concerns right on the dot--giving me solid advice for the rooms that I ask her about. Also, she has had not qualms giving me advice on re-doing pieces I already own (for example, painting a table and chairs or re-upholstering furniture I already own). Perhaps because I have felt how sincerely she wants me to be happy about my decor and within budget, I have trusted her and have been willing to spend a little more on Ethan Allen furniture than I would have spent if I didn't trust her. (What I am saying here, haha, is that her managers at Ethan Allen should know that her candid, honest advice on Ethan Allen items and non-Ethan Allen items alike has actually had the effect of encouraging me to buy more, not less, Ethan Allen furniture. And yet, I know that this effect was not brought about by any calculations of Lyn's. I just know that she knows her stuff and has honest intentions, and so I earnestly seek her advice and believe her when she enlightens me about what makes well-made furniture and decor). In conclusion, Lyn's service is the kind of service, I believe, that is embodied by the expression, "You can buy the hand but not the heart." She puts her heart into her work and into her clients. Over several years, time and time again, Lyn has earned my trust and respect because of her professionalism, knowledge, talent, and (most of all) her genuine care and concern.

We met Lyn at the Eathan Allen showroom and were immediately comfortable with her. She had a wonderful way of dealing with indecisive clients like I was. Lyn.kept asking if I was comfortable with some of the changes my husband wanted. She was willing to come to the house to help us finish our project, hanging pictures and selecting decorative items for the room. We have had several designers in the past but Lyn was the best we have dealt with. She is very kind and listens.

We wanted to update our family room. We visited several times to one store, even requested they provide us with a consultant on the several visits. None were ever provided. On a whim, while at lunch, we saw the Ethan Allen store and drove over. Browsed thru the store. Before leaving Lyn approached us and we shared our desire to update the family room. She shared her expertise and that was the start of a very good experience. We toured the store again with her. Looked at possible concepts, colors, and fabrics. Lyn made an appointment to come to our home. Reviewed our wants, the proper colors for the room, appropriate furniture, carpet, end tables, and lamps. From there we made the decisions we had wanted to make for over two years. The furniture and all were delivered this week by two of the nicest young men you can imagine. They were so helpful in setting everything up and putting the room altogether. None of this would have happened without Lyn, her professional advise & talents. Her time, her visit to our home and her interest moved the project along. We are very happy with all she and Ethan Allen have done to make our home a beautiful place for us.

We had recently remodeled our home and were just driving by Ethan Allen to browse to get furniture ideas. We were greeted by Lyn who seemed to figure out our style very quickly. She took our ideas and upgraded them into a look that we could never do ourselves. She did not pressure us to spend more than our budget allowed but worked to stretch the amount we wanted to spend. Lyn was very good at matching not only colors but textures and shapes. We ended up purchasing all new furniture for our kitchen, family room, and living room. She also tied our new furniture into our existing fireplace and the few pieces of furniture that we did not want to replace. We ended up with some pieces that we never would have picked out, but they are now our favorites (Love the ceramic drum table, the clear glass lamps, and the metal top table behind the couch with the cross pattern- thanks Lyn!) She has an amazing eye for design and look. In short, our home looks fabulous and we will absolutely hire Lyn again when we take on other parts of our house. She deserves more than five stars but that is all this website allows.

Lyn's professionalism and expertise guided us through our choices for new furniture. She was responsive to our questions and the room looks fantastic!

Lyn was great. She went above and beyond. She met with my husband and I with the framer to help select mats and frames for our pictures. Our living room is beautiful. i would highly recommend Lyn.

The end of 2015 my husband and I decided it was time to get new living room furniture. Our living room was 35 years of hodge podge hand me downs. Lyn created the most beautiful living room. She kept us on budget and was able to blend my husband and I different tastes. See before and after pictures. One and a half years after we completed the remodel we sold our home and moved into a modern city apartment. Story to be continued…

I originally came into Ethan Allen to get a sofa for my living room, but after meeting Lyn we decided it would be better if she saw the space and put together a plan for it. I loved how quickly she came out to the house, how she brought everything I needed to see in the space. I also loved how she was so willing to use my existing pieces, and keep the cost down for us. We ended up not only doing my living room, but also my family room area. She just knew what she was doing and was so willing to give me as much time as I needed for the design process. We actually finished our fireplace and mantle that we had been working on for 2 years! We love Lyn and I would recommend her to anyone.

Lyn is absolutly fabulous! My husband and I are so grateful to have found her. She is a talented interior designer who not only knows her craft well, but was able to quickly understand the style we were looking for to update our home. She was professional, friendly, and made us feel that she was helping us achieve our goal according to our vision. With her expertise we were able to stay within our budget and now our home is a place that we look forward to coming home to every day. I am also happy to say that we have found a lifelong friend in Lyn!!
