About Us

M design is a Best of Houzz award-winning boutique interior design & decorating firm based in West Vancouver, BC, servicing the entire North Shore from Lions Bay to Deep Cove. I have been in the consulting industry since 2000. I combine my professional business background with my extensive education and my innate design sense to create a rare and valuable skill set that allows me to both creative and extremely details-oriented---often a rare combination in this industry. I have a Bachelor of Arts, an Master in Business (MBA), and a Interior Decorating Diploma. My clients find that I am a thorough, reliable project manager and creative problem solver that can competently work with both deadlines and budgets. I share with my clients an incredibly talented and dependable team of trades including plumbers, painters, electricians, carpenters, millworkers, tile setters, and upholsterers. I bring all of these resources to the job and together we all work as a team to provide a smooth and enjoyable creative process from initial design stage to final implementation. I am also very down-to-earth and easy to work with. My expertise includes: project management of kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and mudroom renovations; space planning; lighting design & planning; furniture selection & refurbishing; bedroom updates including custom furniture and bedding, paint colour consultation; styling & accessorizing; and more. My goal is to design spaces for clients that are classic, thoughtful, personal, fresh, timeless, and grounded in simplistic beauty. I find inspiration everywhere. Michelle has been working with me to renovate the downstairs bathroom and main floor of my downtown condo. She has helped me every step of the way - from designing the space to picking out fixtures, colors and furniture. She is extremely professional and worked very well with my contractor and his trades. She has wonderful taste but can also work with the items that I love. There is no way I could have done this project without her.

Michelle was very instrumental in the design of our new home build. We had no idea where to start with flooring, cabinets, colors, finishing products and design. She was able to help us determine our exact design style and then focus our efforts in finding the flooring, cabinets, tile, etc. in the exact pallet we wanted. She was patient, listened to every idea we had, provided detailed information on all the available products and suppliers, and was available to assist us exactly when we needed. Ashleigh Festing

With Michelle's help, we have a bathroom we love!. Michelle was able to look at our space and see possibilities that had not occurred to us. By moving our door, we were able to have a shower that is twice the size of our original shower. Our vision changed from start to finish and Michelle pulled the project together beautifully. It was Michelle's expertise in color and design that made it all come together. She kept within our budget and blended high end products with off the rack to create a bathroom that is both functional and beautiful. Michelle worked with my quirky work hours and was very accessible. Much to my husband's dismay, I think we have more renovations in our future and I have Michelle to thank for making the process painless.
