About Us

Maria Barcelona Interiors, a full service interior design studio, has earned a reputation as the designer of choice for homeowners, builders and developers of upscale residences in the greater New Orleans area and across the Gulf South region. It is the philosophy of MBI that the success of all of its projects stems from the close relationships and spirit of collaboration it establishes with its clients. MBI believes that the primary job of any designer is to refine and hone a client’s vision and style, guiding the process to its fabulous conclusion. Ms. Barcelona’s signature polished yet comfortable approach to design has been featured on HGTV and the DIY network as well as in Southern Living, New Orleans Times Picayune, Louisiana Home and Gardens, Living and Inside Northside. She is a five-time recipient of the Sonata Award for excellence in interior design and she designed both the House of the Year and the Best Kitchen in the North Shore Parade of Homes Tour in 2013.

After seeing the pillow from THE PILLOW BAR advertised on Facebook I decided to give yet another one a try. MBI and I have a long standing and EXCELLENT history so there was hope this would be the one. I received it in a unbelievable short period of time and just spent my first night sleeping with it. First of al it is SO soft and comfortable and the monogram (have to add that) adds an elegant touch. The first reaction when I woke up is that my neck wasn't stiff and sore which is usually the case. There was no achy, stretch to get the kinks out feeling. Thank you MBI (MARIA) for once again helping me with first, decorating my beautiful home and now getting a really good nights sleep.

I had the pleasure of working with Maria and Paul on a remodel of an older home and I cannot say enough good things about their team. I was struggling with interior and exterior color schemes and they came to the rescue with safe, transitional ideas rather than the more traditional style I was going with that would have hurt me in the resale of the home. I will admit I was a little skeptical at first, but as soon as it all started coming together, there was no doubt in my mind that these two know exactly what they're doing! I couldn't be any happier with their expertise and will use them for every future project I encounter. Thanks again!

Tyson Construction

We worked with Maria and her team on a special new construction project earlier this year. The project was for a mortgage free home for a wounded veteran. As the general contractor, we were tasked with coordinating the build for the organization along with the veteran and his family, and working with Maria who helped with the interior design of the home. Maria and her team donated their time, no questions asked, for this project and went above and beyond. They helped coordinate the interior design with multiple parties including us, the family, along with the design team from Southern Living magazine and JC Penny. Maria was professional and helped coordinate the interior design and furnishing of the home, which was under a very tight time schedule. As a general contractor who builds custom homes, we understand the value of time, along with conducting business in a professional manner. Maria and her team are professional and worked with us throughout the process to help make the veteran's home a reality. We highly recommend Maria Barcelona Interiors

During the past 7 years working with designers all across America on home improvement/makeover TV shows, Maria and Paul by far have been the BEST team I've worked with. Preparing a kitchen remodel with a team who is over 2,000 miles away can be difficult but they knocked it out of the park. They were communicative, flexible, worked within my budget, fun and all around great people. On my most recent project with them where we surprised a homeowner in Covington, they saved our behinds by pulling together a back-up contractor and subs. They're the definition of "team player" and they're amazing at what they do. The designs were organized and beautifully put together. The execution was top notch. I enjoyed working with them and miss them dearly as I write this review from California.
