We had an excellent experience from start to finish with Dawn and Carol from MAS Interior Design. They gave us several options for every component of our kitchen remodel to create the kitchen of our dreams - an ode to a mixture of classic and modern with an artistic touch. Carol and Dawn were fantastic at guiding us through the remodel process. They were reliable and responsive, patient and extremely perceptive in understanding and creating our vision of our new kitchen. I would highly recommend them for any remodel. They are an absolute pleasure to work with.

We absolutely LOVE the new spaces MAS created for us (living room, bathroom, entryway). We spend more time in all these spaces than we ever have. The concepts are both elevated and pragmatic. It was truly a wonderful upgrade and now a beautiful space.

Carol and Dawn took on our classic San Francisco victorian renovation project and were absolutly a joy to work with. They listened to what we wanted and provided us with a holistic approach and presented us with such lovely and viable options for the project from construction to furnishing. Given our home is a classic San Francisco victorian and it could be tricky to find materials to turly match the existing details, Carol and Dawn were able to find (via different vendors) options that truly complimented the house. Throughout the project, Carol and Dawn always responded to us quickly when we had questions and jumped in to help when the contractor ran into issues which we greatly appreciate especially with our tight timeline. We worked with Dawn and Carol of MAS Design for our interior design/remodel project and couldn’t be any happier with the results (still working with them for an outdoor project, actually). We came to them after we purchased our forever family home, which was a pretty large project that included outdoor deck spaces. We wanted something not only unique and edgy, but also a project worth publishing. I initially contacted several big designers in the Bay Area to get a feel of who we wanted to work with, but we immediately went with them because I loved their work, but they were also the nicest and most welcoming designers we had talked to by far. After they came back with their mood boards and vision for the home, we were thoroughly blown away with what they put together for it’s creativity, uniqueness, and how special every item was. We literally had never seen anything like it before. Though many people often have opinions on what they think should and should not be in their home, we trusted their vision by giving them creative freedom and pretty much agreed to everything they presented for the concept. I think that is one of the reasons that made the project so successful. Carol and Dawn were amazing to work with. They are extremely detail oriented, transparent on how they work and bill, as they pass along their trade discounts, do their best to advocate for their clients, are very creative, and have an amazing eye for design. They make awesome business partners, as they kind of balance each other out, and are delightful and fun to work with. At one point, I didn’t want to be off concept and ruin their work with anything I put in the house, so I even asked them to go shopping with me for all my serveware. It was a fun day and they literally picked everything out down to my napkins. :) Watching the project come together was extremely rewarding, given that in addition to the lovely items they sourced for us from all over, we had many special pieces custom made. With that, they introduced us to work with amazing artisans, studios, and artists to create commissioned pieces for the home. They not only worked with artists and studios to create one of a kind pieces for us, but they actually designed the pieces themselves! Our ridiculously beautiful dining table, kitchen table, and artistic sling chairs were actually designed by them! I have such an appreciation for what Carol and Dawn do because the work is extremely difficult, quite tedious, and requires true talent. They are so passionate about it though, and work out every single detail until it’s just right. I think there are many levels of what people consider “interior design,” but they work at the highest level in this profession. I didn’t know what it entails until going through this process. Putting together a project that is aesthetically beautiful, but also tells a story, that is one of a kind, unique in the process of creation or where the items are sourced, to stay within whatever budget, to stay on concept and balanced, and to put it all together for not only your client to appreciate, but hoping for the world to appreciate, is very hard work, but they were able to fulfill all of the above and more! Our interior project is now complete and we got everything we wanted. They made stunning mood boards and drawings that we initially saw into a reality, and our home is absolutely stunning. We’ve had several large scale parties, and everyone who comes to our home is blown away not just for its beauty, but also for how unique it is. The best part is that we also just got word recently that THE HOME WILL BE PUBLISHED in a prominent interior design magazine soon (in print)! Lastly, not only are they talented in their craft, but given that I didn’t want to be off concept even for parties, I contacted them to help me with the aesthetics of my most recent large scale party. The party was also a hit, and that, too, was published! I love the house so much that every day, I turn on all the lights and style the home exactly as they did for the professional photo shoot, just so I can look at it and admire it. :) We will be forever grateful for the beautiful home that they created for us, and are so ecstatic that they were able to help us accomplish all the goals we wanted for our home.

Dawn is a friend of mine from high school and I always knew that I would love to hire her and Carol if I ever needed interior design. I was excited and nervous about working with a designer. We have a busy house with two very active teenage boys. I wanted a relaxing space with personality that didn't feel fancy or overworked. Dawn and Carol listened to my requests and worked within my bugdet to help my remodel feel like my house. Their eye and expertise is worth every penny. They make everyday items look elevated. They also recommended the use of Jack Trux to inspect and store my items before the move in. This service was worth it. They handled damaged items and took great care when moving my new furniture into my house. What a treat to have the opportunity to hire MAS! My cats also give them 5 stars for their attention and love on styling day!

Both Dawn and Carol of MAS Design are INCREDIBLE to work with. Not only are they professional, they are creative, responsive, and enthusiastic -- sometimes hard to find in this market. As we have been sitting at home more-so than ever, we wanted to invest in some projects to see how we could open up our kitchen. Not only did the team listen to our requests diligently (all over FaceTime mind you), they provided us with multiple options and truly worked with us to create our dream house. They were able to complete our vision completely remotely and safely given the current climate. Their pricing is very reasonable and their transparent billing was also a great relief. Whoever said you can’t put a price on happiness never tried MAS Design. Not only was I incredibly busy with work, I also don’t have the eye for interior design. When it comes to potentially big expenses like furnishing an entire house, you want to make sure it’s money well spent. Carol and Dawn did just that. They furnished every inch of our 4000 sq ft home and did such an amazing job that every, single person who enters our home has a ‘jaw drop’ moment. I’m talking wide eyed silence. The best part? Well, besides ending up with an incredible home, MAS was respectful of our budget, responsive, intuitive, and incredibly easy to work with. Of all the vendors we had to work with when moving into a new home (and there were many) they were, by far, the easiest and best decision we made. I love that they made this experience so easy for me. It’s a testament to their wealth of experience, professionalism, and how intuitive they were to my needs. Billing was clear, simple and easy. No communication issues whatsoever. It was very clear how important my happiness and satisfaction was to them. I also love how relatable and lovable they are. I now follow them on Instagram and have seen a stream of articles they continue to be featured in (sometimes on the front page of the site or magazine) or awards they’ve won. You’d think that would come with some sort of attitude or over confidence, far from it. They remained kind, humble and thoughtful throughout the process. I don’t know how I got so lucky. I’m really going to miss them but fully plan on using them again when we want to change things up. Till then, don’t change ladies. You’re an absolute gem.

My husband and I recently purchased a home in Los Altos that we love but is a little different from the modern aesthetic we are used to. We found MAS Design and liked that they work with all kinds of styles. We toured the house with Dawn and Carol and were reassured that they could help us make our transitional style home a bit more modern, but in a way that makes sense to the architecture. We both work and not overly design-oriented so it felt good to have the experts leading the way, we had the opportunity to chime in when needed but in our case we preferred to be more hands off since we're so busy. The final result is beautiful, and it feels like us. It is not meant to be a showcase, it is a warm and comfortable environment with a modern vibe. The process was efficient and professional and we always knew we were in good hands. We love our house and are so happy we brought in MAS to make it feel like home! I happened upon a post by designer Dawn Carlson on the Nextdoor app. She was posting that she was new to town (Tiburon) and was looking for local restaurants and entertainment recommendations, and that she happened to be an interior designer. I looked up the MAS Design website and loved what I saw! I had a good instinct immediately and hired them to help me with my new San Rafael hills home. My girls and I recently moved into a fantastic mid-century home with expansive views (tons of potential), but like any mid-century home, it needed work and personalization. MAS' glowing 5-star reviews on Houzz, awards and amazing press coverage assured me that they were experienced and capable. Their website is beautiful, and they have been published by Elle Decor, Better Homes and Gardens... Plus, their office has recently moved to Tiburon, so they are super close and I really wanted someone nearby that I could meet in person, even though I realize many things can be done online. I have a strong personal style (chic, casual, fresh, timeless) and wanted to make sure that my home was *my* sanctuary and that it made sense for my present life with two young girls, rather than a precious space that no one would feel comfortable in. When I met with Carol and Dawn, there was a moment of, "I see you" recognition, and I knew I was in good hands. They just *get* me (and their other clients, who have different tastes), my lifestyle, and my goals, functionally and aesthetically. When they delivered the concept they had created for me, I was thrilled. I resonated with it and it felt like me, only better! Clearly, they had taken mental stock of things, materials and colors that I like and even how to push me into elevating it (without pushing too hard). It was like they read my mind. The design is stunning! Of course we collaborated on a few minor changes. They were open to my feedback and we came up with something that I know will be beautiful and appropriate for my family. They are fun, professional, direct, organized. They help to validate my ideas, and steer me in a better direction when needed. They have professional skills and procedures that protect me from errors. They are available when I need a quick answer or advice. Basically, they have helped me to design my own sanctuary. They have taken the stress out of it. I've had a lot of construction projects which are always uncomfortable and they've helped to make the process easier. The result for me was a high-end aesthetic within an approachable, comfy design. I can't wait to see the final result! I was referred to the MAS Design team by Grant K. Gibson for a kitchen re-design in my home. My home has been designed by top tier designers, and Grant assured me that MAS is a talented, highly professional team with an excellent eye and reputation. Plus, their office has recently moved to Tiburon (next to Sausalito in Marin County) so (just across the Golden Gate bridge), super close to SF, a huge convenience. I met with principal designers Carol Perry and Dawn Carlson, and felt that I was in good hands. They were knowledgeable, friendly and positive. As we worked together I appreciated their systematic process, and their customer care. I had lots of great ideas and, combined with their expert skills, together we arrived at a design that I am thrilled with. The MAS team works in a variety of styles according to their clients' taste, so I was happy that they could adapt to my vision for the space. Their process is professional and direct. Their systems for communication, drawing, purchasing, etc made it so that not only did I know what was happening (and what I was being billed for) all along the way, but also they shielded me from errors that may have otherwise without these protections. They also jumped into action when I needed things quickly! They have integrity and care about their clients' timelines and will produce drawings and such in response to sudden deadlines that can occur when working with a contractor, builders, etc. The MAS team has great taste, an organized and yet accessible process, and are easy to work with. I live in Old Tiburon and MAS Design was an absolute joy to work with in redesigning my open architecture, water view, living/entertaining space. This is the most important space in the entire house and had to be just right. They understood what I wanted, were a joy to work with and executed flawlessly in record time. Thank you, MAS Design.

My husband and I had been working for a few years to furnish our beautiful new 4 bedroom/2.5 bath home in Crocker Highlands, but it just wasn’t coming together in the way that we had hoped. Realizing that we lacked the skills and experience to achieve our desired look and feel, we reluctantly decided to hire an interior designer. We interviewed four designers and were thrilled when we met Mas Design. They were fun, down to earth, versatile in their design aesthetic, and creative solution builders. So we took a leap and signed up! At their suggestion, we began the process by creating a few picture boards of design ideas that we liked, as well as those we didn’t like. My husband and I differ a bit in our styles (he likes a bit more modern aesthetic and I like more traditional), so our boards were quite divergent. However, Mas skillfully turned these boards into cohesive design drafts for each room of our home. Over a period of many months, we partnered with Mas to iterate these ideas to make them uniquely our own, honing in on just the right look and feel for each room. Once we had solidified the design, Mas managed the timeline for ordering all of the furniture which was shipped to a receiver so that it could all be installed on the same day. Then one day last fall, we went to work and returned home that evening to a brand new, beautiful home! I don’t know how they got it all done in one day, but they installed 7 rooms full of furniture, including rugs, linens, and lighting in only 9 hours. All night, my husband kept walking through different rooms saying “I can’t believe we live here”! Then, one month after the furniture installation, the Mas team returned for a phased accessories installation. With just a few days of shopping, they picked out a unique collection of items that complimented the design and added the final missing touch. We were so impressed by the impact of the accessories that we decided to continue our work with Mas to select artwork for our home. With their guidance, we selected unique art pieces for each room including paintings, paper mache, wood, and textile art. As a result, we now have a home that is truly beautiful inside and out - we love the use of mixed materials, white walls for contrast and cohesion, and the overall refined, but cozy feel! The design reflects our unique style, pulling together elements from a variety of vendors to create a more collected look. Mas steered us away from items that were too trendy, so the design is quite timeless and I’m confident we’ll love it for many years to come. And most importantly, its very liveable- I’ve already sprayed tomato sauce all over the kitchen (freshly painted walls, new upholstered stools, new rug, and new light fixtures) which I removed without a trace! Throughout the process, we really appreciated a few key things about Mas’ approach: They Pay Attention to the Way We Live: Through multiple visits to our home, Mas paid close attention to the way that we live and took it into consideration as they developed the designs for our home. For example, we are a shoeless home and they demonstrated really great problem solving by developing some pretty, yet usable solutions for shoe storage that still maintain the sophisticated look and feel of our home. They Welcome Our Participation in the Process: After declining three different color palettes that they proposed for our master bedroom, the Mas team invited me to join them to look at fabrics. After spending a few hours there looking at a ridiculous number of fabrics in different design studios, I found a collection that I just loved! Our master bedroom is now my favorite room in the house. They Are Incredibly Patient: I’m VERY picky so we went through multiple iterations of the designs for each room in our home. The Mas team was consistently professional, never expressing any frustration with my process. They were committed at each step to finding something that I loved, no matter how long it took. In addition, we were juggling health, work, and family challenges throughout the project, oftentimes preventing us from responding to their communications in a timely manner. However, the Mas team gave us space and time to respond, gently nudging us as deadlines approached. As a result, our process was nearly two years, which I imagine is significantly longer than Mas’ typical project, but they never complained and I always felt that we had their complete attention. They Pay Attention to Details: Throughout the project, they paid attention to the most minute details, which really shows up is in the accessories phase. We came home after the accessories installation to find that they had set our dining room table complete with mini pumpkins for our Thanksgiving dinner, filled decorative glass jars in the kitchen with gluten free pasta (I have Celiac Disease), and sprinkled cacti and air plants throughout the house (we’re horrible gardners!). They Are Resourceful: It was our first time hiring an interior designer, so we were quite mindful of budget. Mas sourced furniture and accessories for our home from a diverse array of vendors- they chose expensive items sparingly, always noting why they had chosen them and offering more cost effective options when we requested them. They Have Great Systems in Place: Mas is a well oiled machine- they had strong systems in place to manage each stage of the project which truly created a seamless experience for us. They maintained great communication with us throughout the process, keeping us in the loop as challenges arose and always being responsive to our needs. They Make Sure We’re Happy: As to be expected for a project of our size, there were a few things that weren’t quite right after installation. Despite how long the process had taken, Mas worked diligently with us resolve the issues, advocating with vendors on our behalf to even return a final sale custom item and secure financial reimbursement for trouble caused. They Are Fun to Work With: We sincerely enjoyed working with the Mas team- they are warm, thoughtful, and fun to work with. We experienced an unfortunate family loss just before our installation and somehow in the midst of everything else they were juggling, they managed to send beautiful flowers to let us know they were thinking of us. We are incredibly grateful to the Mas team for all of their amazing work on our home. We have come to trust them implicitly, so much so that my husband insists on checking in with them before we make any additional purchases for our home (i.e. dishware and glassware could not be purchased without Mas’ approval!). It’s truly a blessing to have such a beautiful home to return to every day and we owe that all to Mas Design!

I had the great pleasure of meeting and working with both Dawn and Carol, two very powerful women from Mas Design. Dawn contacted me via Instagram after I photographed one of her fantastic interior designs for a third party. Those designs and images brought an amazing amount of traffic to my site. I loved photographing her project. Dawns asked to meet for coffee to create a connection that may or may not end up in another project. I think we both went into that meeting not necessarily knowing where it would lead us. By the end of her tea and my latte, I felt like I just talked to a friend I have not seen in years. Dawn’s warm and extremely welcoming energy made our get-together so much fun. Her honest feedback on several different topics and her openness in helping me out (even though we just met) was very touching. Of course, this meeting ended up in a conversation about Dawn and Carol’s new website and their need for headshots. I could not have been more happy to offer her my service ;) The day of the shoot went as expected. At my arrival, the two women were already ready for the shoot. Hair, makeup, and outfits were ready to go. The professionalism was easy to see and feel, and the shooting went extremely well. Both women were very open to feedback and had no problem opening up in front of me. The whole process went without any hiccups or problems. Hands down one of my favorite clients. I truly consider both of them as friends, partners and mentors. Even though I have not hired them for my own person interior design needs, I can tell they will get the job done, no matter what. Their high energy, professionalism, warmth and ability to listen is truly inspiring. I can not recommend them more!

Everything about my project with MAS was outstanding. I worked primarily with Carol Perry and I could not ask for a better partner in every way: great communication, creative ideas, wonderful resources, total flexibility and her endless patience with me. The final design and vibe exceeded my hopes. I LOVE my custom dining table and their woodworking partner can do anything! This is equally important...there was a problem with 2 defective chairs (a vendor issue, not MAS) and Carol guided the process to the best possible outcome: two new chairs! I wish my house was bigger so I could do another project with them!

MAS Design helped redecorate our San Francisco home and we are thrilled with the end result. MAS Design has worked with me over the last almost 2 years renovating a 1929 house that was quite distressed when I purchased it. They have been with me throughout the construction phase and just recently completed the design and styling. MAS was instrumental in making all the finish and design choices that made my home incredibly beautiful. They chose everything from tile and paint color to bedding and books. They were easy to work with even during stressful times. My ideas and my vision were always taken into consideration but MAS channeled all those ideas and comments into a home that is exactly what I wanted but didn't really know how to achieve it. Without MAS I couldn't ever have achieved such a beautiful result. And it's not only beautiful, but it's a home where guests feel welcome and I feel warm and comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend MAS to work with you on designing one room or your whole house.

MAS Design took our home to the NEXT level. We found MAS through a recommendation and from first meeting we knew it was a go. How to describe this fantastic and creative team? Open. Transparent. Good listeners. FUN! Professionals. Visionaries. I really could go on and on - but it's best experienced. We recently did a major remodel and Dawn, Carol & Emma came in to pull it all together. They were exactly what was needed! From initial meetings to concept presentation to nitty-gritty ordering details they were always responsive, always willing to listen and most importantly give you that lil' nudge we all need when it comes down to it. This is why they are so good - they get you to a vision and not by railroading you but by getting you to see it in a way that works for you. People are amazed when they come to our home - it's put together. It flows. I love how things are layered and collected. OK more stuff: They are fun! and funny! You want to spend time with them. Like a lot of time. Like when you find out you'll be in Maui the same time you plan dinner immediately. They want to connect and make you happy. They are organized and timely: Billings were clear and concise. Timelines were reasonably set. It's easy to get a hold of them and they work so well as a team. We hired MAS Design to help us with our home in San Francisco and couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. The project involved some construction (replacement of wood floors, paint and wallpaper and alterations to a wall) but mostly styling. Having had disappointing experiences with design professionals in the past, we were hesitant to hire a design firm. But from the beginning the MAS team was open and transparent about the process and made us feel comfortable that we had made the right choice. We wanted to keep a few pieces of existing furniture and they were willing to work with us to do so (and be honest when they felt something wouldn't work). We liked their aesthetic and how it mixed with ours--the result was that our house came to together in a beautiful way but our personal tastes and preferences were respected. That said, our goal in hiring a design team was to find pieces and create a look that we couldn't do ourselves--they certainly did that!! As a busy professional I appreciated that they were able to handle much of our communication through email but were happy to meet or jump on the phone when we wanted. It was nice to know that regardless of whom I spoke to or emailed with about an issue or problem, the entire MAS team would receive the information and work together to resolve it. The fact that they work so well together and compliment each other really showed in their work. I also really appreciated that they handled all of the purchases and installation--it was so wonderful to come home on install day and walk through our beautifully designed house! Every evening, when we sit in our living room to relax at the end of a day, the calm we feel is directly attributable to the design they created. I am looking forward to having the MAS team design our next home!!

Dawn is amazing and though I haven't had a chance to work with MAS yet due to messy construction timelines, it's clear she puts the client first. I called her and she found a way to juggle her schedule and come over that very afternoon though she had to move things around to do so. She kept in constant contact, addressed my questions and concerns quickly, and made it clear that I was not in it alone. Once the uproar of construction subsides, I hope to work with Dawn.

I had the honor of photographing a truly gorgeous interior, designed by MAS Design, at the Piedmont Designer Showcase. They took on the challenge of designing a 9 year old girl's bedroom and bath with stunning, showstopping results. The moment I walked into the rooms, I saw that the team had really nailed it. Their design reflected the spirited whimsy of a little girl growing into young adulthood, to perfection. The design was fun and unexpected, artistic and inspiring, edgy yet sophisticated. I work with all types of fabulous designers, but the way MAS Design took on the perspective of their client, and what the design could add to her life, really stood out to me. In that way, they really went beyond great design and created an environment that would cultivate confidence, growth, imagination, and self-reflection. Not only is the MAS Design team extremely talented and professional, they are also fun, outgoing, pleasant people to work with. I felt welcomed into their team right away and enthusiastically wait for our next chance to work together again. They are responsive, reliable, and great at communicating throughout the whole process. Their passion and knowledge of design is unmistakeable. I've worked with MAS on 3 projects now as their photographer and all I can say is that they are wonderful! Here are some highlights! 1. Great Taste! Whenever they contact me for a shoot I'm always super excited because I know there will be lots of things for me to ooh and ahhh about in the space. I've worked with several designers as a photographer and MAS always demonstrates an amazing level of organization. When I arrive they are ready to go and everything is staged. This is important because we have a limited amount of time together and need to make the best use of time. I am certain that this level of commitment and professionalism is also present with their clients! 3. Fun! Work should be fun and working with MAS is that. It's like sitting around with your good friends but knowing that when it comes to it they will put their nose to the grindstone and get the work done! 4. They have a killer work ethic. The are passionate about what they do and will get the job done for you. Their sense of style is really flawless. I see no limit to what these ladies can do! Do Yourself a favor and hire them!

I hired Dawn and the MAS team to complete the design and styling of my home in San Francisco about 6 months after completing a nearly head to toe renovation of a classic SF home with an SF Architect firm. We originally used the in-house designer to do our interior design and get us started with sourcing furniture as well. While we loved them and their aesthetic, once we completed the renovation, it became clear that we needed to take a break to catch our breaths. Once the dust had settled we were ready to proceed with adding more design and styling. I have known Dawn for over 20 years and had been watching her company grow (i.e. stalking her Facebook and design blog) and was intrigued to see what her more contemporary approach to our classic home would be like. I met with her and Tony and Carol and after hearing their pitch was excited to proceed. We worked over about 6-8 months (mostly due to me being slow) to complete our entry, family, dining and living rooms. I let them come up with a huge design concept and portfolio and then gave them a budget for half the cost. They did not balk at the challenge. Using a mix of high, mid and low end sourcing we ended up with a gorgeous home and under budget to boot. These are some of the awesome benefits you get from using MAS: 1. Total transparency: there are no shady hourly rates. You pay a consultation fee one time, you pay for your purchases and you pay a commission. You know exactly how much you owe and don't feel taken advantage of by someone charging you an hourly rate to drive across town to pick up a pillow. 2. A team: they have 3 main designers who all bring something amazing to the group and they work really well together; they also have interns who handle the small stuff so they don't have to worry about it. 3. No fuss: they literally handled everything. I gave them money and they ordered and received everything. They inspected each item for damage and quality and handled returns when necessary. Then they came and put it all together and left me with an amazing home. I didn't have to lift a finger. 4. Integrity: If anything wasn't perfect they found a way to fix it or cover it. 5. Fun: It was a pleasure to work with them--whether in my home or out shopping. They are delightful to be around. 6. Taste: They have an awesome style. I run super classic and made them push me to go more contemporary here and there and I am so glad they did. I love everything. I cannot recommend them more! We are beyond pleased with our home.

Rather than write a review of MAS Design, I figured I should share my direct feedback I sent them after their final photo shoot in my home. It really says it all... (For context, I hired MAS to renovate my kitchen, which ended up "creeping" into my living and dining room, then also my bathroom and upstairs loft.) It's been a busy year! Team MAS! WOW and OMG!!! I just arrived home from an extremely crazy day and am completely blown away by the incredibly beautiful styling that you all did today! What an incredible joy and surprise it was to walk into my lovely home and discover all of the neat little surprises in every nook and cranny! Mere words can not express how I feel right now…but I’ll try… I LOVE everything and can’t stop smiling! I LOVE the way you incorporated my items into the design. The house FEELS like me… you captured my very essence and I’m so so grateful. I wish you all could have been here to see my face when I turned on the lights…I wish you could have felt how my heart skipped a beat, how my eyes filled with tears of joy, how my mind raced and immediately erased all of the crazy moments of this very intense yearlong project! Seeing the final product makes all of the personal and financial sacrifices oh so worth it! What an incredible blessing to stumble into your offices that fateful late Spring day…(actually my faith teaches me that our steps are uniquely and divinely ordered…there are no accidents…I was meant to walk into your offices that day) I literally feel like I can vacation in my home. To say the least, you've made me a very happy lady!

Mood and Space Design has completely transformed my house without breaking my bank. If you hire them, here's my advice for you:Trust them. They know what they are doing and they are brilliant. My experience: we were knocking down the wall separating our kitchen and dining room and putting in a bar-height counter. I wanted help choosing lighting and the bar countertop. They came in, took a look around, and then came back with a whole palate of beautiful natural woods, industrial and natural fixtures, and most shockingly, white countertops and backsplash. My house is white challenged. The woodwork is light brown, the walls are all tan, the kitchen is grey and green. Before Dawn and Tony, the only white in my house was the toilets. So when they suggested white I was a little flummoxed. They found beautiful a linen concrete countertop and large white tile backsplash. At first I said no, then after a while, I began to see what they were going for. Something updated. Something fresh and clean. I decided to trust them, and we went with the white and my house is NOW AMAZING. The lighting they chose was spot on, the colors so gorgeous, the furniture incredible, and I couldn't be happier. We originally hired them to just do the fixtures and countertop but when we saw the magic they did with that, we asked them to help us with our entire dining room. Next we're working on our whole downstairs playroom and bedrooms. Visitors to my house used to sometimes say my house was "interesting" or say nothing at all. NOW people say, "Whoah! I LOVE your house!" And it's all from a few informed and brilliant changes suggested by MAS. Plus, beyond their design acumen, they're incredibly hard working. They will go with you to look at furniture, carpet, lighting. They'll trudge all over the Bay Area looking for the right thing for your space and they know it when they find it. They are prompt with e-mails and texts, and are hilarious and fun people ta boot. They will search to the ends of the earth to find the right thing for your space, and trust me, trust them. They go above, beyond, and then some.

Tony and Dawn helped me prioritize and make decisions on a number of planned upgrades for my 1917 apartment. They helped me pick between new flooring alternatives for the kitchen floor and made design tweaks on a concept I had in mind. Another item we worked on was window coverings that could work for a building of this era and they made a great suggestion that as I planned to phase in the window coverings that I get all the windows measured at the same time so that the window store doesn't need to come back every time I am ready for two new window coverings. They also helped me place a cute old train rack that I love but needed help siting. Tony also suggested I not get rid of my shower doors and replace them with a curved curtain given the dimensions of the room. Dawn offered advice on bathroom floor materials and colors I was considering bringing up points I had never considered. She also suggested a pendant lamp in the kitchen which I am looking forward to trying out. Tony and Dawn worked with my budget and were efficient and knowledgeable. Call them! Thanks you guys!

I randomly came across Mood and Space Design while browsing through design pictures here on Houzz.com. Loved their work and immediately contacted them for my project. We realized very early in our initial conversation that they would not be able to help me complete my project within my desired timeline due to their commitment to other projects. They were willing to help me if I could wait, but my dates were not flexible. Even though they knew that they would not be able to take me on as a client, they understood my time crunch and continued the conversation to better understand my design aesthetic and needs, and immediately recommended a designer who could fit my needs. Needless to say, they have left me super-impressed. First, their desire to provide the best help possible even after realizing that they may not be able to take me as a client has been the most pleasant and refreshing service gesture I have experienced in a while. I can only imagine the superb service the clients that they do take on must be receiving! Second, they are wonderful listeners. In the short time that we spoke, they asked the right questions and pinned down exactly what I was looking for. The designer that they recommended fits my aesthetic and needs spot on! You can tell by pictures how beautiful the room turned out, but what you can't tell is how much fun it was working with Mood & Space Design! Our family room was totally redone, new carpet, paint and all new furniture, window coverings and window seat cushions. I miss the laughter, I miss the shopping and I truly miss them. The antique/vintage trunks we were originally going to purchase were priced at $125+ each, but when Mood & Space went shopping at the flea markets and vintage faires they picked them up for less than $25 each. Same for the gears...we had originally purchased them at a wonderful shop in San Francisco - Big Daddy's Antiques - but when M&S found them cheaper at the flea market we did a return. Wool carpet? I was nervous, but M&S had done their research, they sent us web links, printed articles and came to a local carpet store so I could see the difference and be reassured it could weather the family and the dog! They know how to stay on budget...they always had a spreadsheet handy with the latest expenses and time worked. One example of how you can tell they "know their stuff"... We special ordered a fabric bench coffee table from a well known national furniture company. When it arrived I just didn't like the color, it looked different from the picture. Unbeknownst to me M&S had specifically worked out a "full refund" vs. 50% refund due to the fact the company could not provide a fabric sample! When we received a call on a Friday night..."you need to go to Petaluma to look at a coffee table"...we jumped in the car the next day. The table was beautiful, they gave us a discount because of their relationship with M&S and we drove it home. I think the coffee table pulls the whole room together. Their vendors are amazing! Pillows, covered seat cushions and window coverings by a fabulous vendor who delivered ahead of schedule. How do you get heavy metal gears in a stand at a great price, call Tony & Dawn at Mood & Space, their fabricator is fantastic. Tony & Dawn were in constant contact with the furniture company, carpeting company & installers and we knew as it happened where things were in the timeline. Five stars for Mood & Space Design for their professionalism, their work ethic and most of all for their fabulous designs. Feel free to email me if you would like to chat more about their work. We love working with Dawn and Tony! They have a fantastic eye - creating a fresh and contemporary and sophisticated look and feel for our home without making it all trendy or overwrought (no karate-chopped pillows here!). We love how they mix new and used, traditional and quirky, minimal and sumptuous, and play with colors and textures. They took the time to understand our style, budget, and priorities and Incorporated these into their design recommendations. Our space is being transformed from the stark, vanilla house we bought into a warm and inviting home that we absolutely adore and could never have imagined on our own. Thank you Dawn and Tony!!

We recently finished a remodel of our mid-century kitchen and we couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Tony and Dawn are amazing and their eye for design is impeccable...what I was most impressed with was how detailed they were and that they listened to our needs. We wanted a kitchen that looked great but was also functional, and they delivered! My wife and I both work, so it was important to us to know that they were there to handle all the small details and be on site to work with contractors, handymen, etc. No doubt, remodeling a kitchen is stressful but Tony and Dawn were so accommodating and made the project much easier than it would have been otherwise. The final photo shoot was bittersweet -- everything looked amazing but we were a little sad the project was over since working with Tony and Dawn was such a pleasure.
