Matejka Interiors

I am Irene Matejka (pronounced Mat-ay-ka). My creative journey began in Hungary, where I was born and studied fine art and commercial merchandising before my husband and I arrived in Australia. I started painting abstract art in 2014 and completed my interior decorating studies at Mercer School of Interior Design in 2017. I consider living and working spaces to be not just backdrops to our lives but also extensions of our individuality and daily sources of inspiration that enhance who we are. It is priceless to witness the joyful reactions of people when the space they live in becomes more of a reflection of their unique personality and style. I enjoy the challenge of creating rooms with decorative and functional elements along with the addition of one or more custom-designed, one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork. By incorporating signature art pieces, an interior can become something that is truly unique and personal to those who live there. I believe that these artistic expressions are the elements that complete the character and personality of interior spaces.
