Melissa was a joy to work with. From the beginning to the end of our complete kitchen redesign (as well new flooring and fireplace resurfacing), Melissa was a consummate professional. After meeting with us to discuss our needs, she came back to us with great ideas to make our home shine. Melissa was also very open to making changes based on our likes/dislikes (no open shelving for us!) and was always willing to listen to why we wanted those changes. She was also conscious of our budget and careful to explain where and when it was important to spend more or less. She also works with wonderful contractors who did great work. We would highly recommend her for any of your design needs.

Melissa Hill Home Design renovated and designed the main level and basement of my cape cod style home, and I am thrilled with the results. I now have a home office, laundry room, and master suite with a larger bedroom, walk-in closet, and spa bath. I’ve gone from two full baths to three and a half. We took the wall down between my kitchen and dining room, and redecorated my family room and dining room. The renovations seamlessly fit into the unique architectural details of my home. The design flows from room to room, and my home now feels open, modern, and bright. Melissa managed the entire process, and her team of carpenters, electricians, plumbers, flooring installers, etc. are all top of their class and true professionals. She is creative, responsive and easy to work with. I’m planning on using Melissa Hill Home Design again for my future exterior and kitchen projects. Thank you for making my home beautiful!

We cannot say enough about the amazing work and professionalism of Hartley and Hill Design! We moved into a new house and were at a complete loss with how to work the layout of the kitchen and living room, due to a centralized fireplace in the middle of the living area. I found Hartley and Hill Design on Houzz and immediately knew they were the ones for the job. Melissa came to our house and had many amazing ideas of how to reconfigure the rooms and brighten up the space. I could not be more pleased with the transformation and my husband and I often comment about how happy we are and how much we love our new home. This would not be possible without Hartley and Hill Design!

I first found Hartley and Hill on Houzz and contacted them because I loved their design style. As first time home owners moving from an apartment in NYC to CT, I am a total novice when it came to hiring and working with a designer. Melissa was extremely understanding and patient in explaining and answering all my questions and concerns. She was very clear and up front about pricing and what they charge, which I also found to be reasonable given the services and scope of work they do. She and Sara came to my house were not only lovely in person but immediately had ideas of what we could do. They have done an excellent job sourcing furniture within my budget. The custom designed built ins they created for the living room are absolutely beautiful. They also did an amazing job picking paint colors for the walls and fabrics for window panels and pillows. But what I am most pleased with it that the process has not only been stress free (I have two small children) but actually enjoyable! I've never felt hassled or overwhelmed and every person with whom they work - carpenters, painters, electricians have been extremely friendly, professional and trustworthy. I felt no hesitation about having them in my home, even when I am not there. Because the experience has been so positive, I ended up expanding the scope of the project. And if and when we decide to renovate our kitchen, I will absolutely be calling them. I give them my highest recommendation!

Hartley & Hill Design are a first class, one stop professional design service. They renovated and designed our mudroom, powder room, kitchen, great room, master suite, master bath and laundry room. They certainly turned our house into a home. The finished product exceeded our expectations!! They were able to capture our style with great precision. I was even impressed with the fine details that were added for the finishing touches in every space. We were out of town for the major renovation project of our master suite and master bathroom. They were very diligent in keeping us posted on the progress of everything. We didn't have any worries at all. After moving into a new home, the existing master bedroom was dark and uninviting. We met with Melissa and Sara and described our vision, likes and dislikes. They learned our style early on, and were able to meet our needs of using existing furniture as a part of the space. Little by little the room transformed into an inviting and gorgeous space we wanted to rest at night. Melissa and Sara, as well as their sub-contractors were always prompt, professional and courteous. My husband and I look forward to having Melissa and Sara design other rooms in our home.I would highly recommend Hartley and Hill Design to anyone looking to transform or update their living space.

We have worked with a number of designers in the past and I can honestly say this has been a great experience from start to finish. You are both very professional, well organized, good listeners, responsive and of course, creative and talented! You turned our bedroom into a relaxed, cozy, personal, and finished space that our family now enjoys. In the same respect, you repurposed existing furniture to create a guest bedroom that belongs in a magazine - gorgeous! Hartley & Hill Design were very easy and wonderful to work with! We would highly recommend them to anyone interested in help with a project or even just opinions on design. We hired them to help renovate our laundry room, master bathroom, and master closet. By listening to our ideas, they were able to take them and transform them into a reality making our new house into a home. We look forward to working with Hartley & Hill Design on future projects!

We worked with Hartley & Hill Design to completely renovate and redesign our kitchen last summer. They were fantastic and we cannot say enough about how wonderful they were. We met with them and described the concepts that we wanted (functional and classic, keeping in mind that we like to entertain, but we have small children and a busy family life). They put together the design and sat down with us to explain their ideas very thoroughly and also run through the budget. They came up with a fantastic design that we never would have thought possible, incorporating very creative ideas, while still keeping in mind our budget as well as our personal preferences. It was a very collaborative process, with us being as involved as we wanted to be, but not feeling like we had to manage a project; they expertly managed the project for us! All of the subcontractors they hired were first class. The renovation was very well organized, there was consistent open communication, any hiccups along the way (as will happen in any project this size) were managed smoothly and effectively. Needless to say, we are thrilled with the end result. We can't wait to use them again soon to redesign our dining room/living room area. We would highly recommend them!
