Melissa helped us with a whole-home renovation. Having worked with other designers before, we felt that Melissa was the best we had ever worked with. Not only was her design skill very deep, she also knew the nuts and bolts of the trades and even made some architectural improvements to our plan! She was able to channel our taste and bring incredible resources to us, from fabrics to lighting, furniture and hardscape materials. She was easy to work with, and developed creative solutions when there were issues with some of the suppliers due to COVID and the supply chain crisis. Her wholistic approach went beyond the finishes to help us create the overall space and feel we had dreamed of. We would recommend her to anybody who wants to create a sophisticated, beautiful home.

We’ve been working with Melissa for over two years now in challenging conditions. Every aspect of trying to build a new place and then make it into a home has just been hard. But her professionalism has made sure everything will work in a space, in ways that fit us well, and her personal warmth has been reflected in her attention to how we’d like to feel in our home. It hasn’t been easy but without her it would have been almost impossible.

We have been working with Melissa McLay for two years in updating our home. Projects so far include replacement of lighting fixtures in our family and sitting rooms as well as our kitchen. The choices she presented were beautiful and striking. Anyone who visits our home immediately notices and comments on the new fixtures asking where we found them. We could never have selected/located these fixtures on our own. Melissa has also updated/upgraded our family room. What was before perfectly serviceable is now gorgeous. Each piece of furniture perfectly complements the other. The couches and chairs have details and quality not found in furniture at Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and the like. The specially designed throw pillows are gorgeous. The new coffee table and rug pull it all together. When Melissa first visited our home, she made suggestions that we were immediately able to implement like flipping rugs from one room to another; placing the rugs a certain way; and placing the existing furniture in a better position to balance the room. She selected a new rug for our dining room that makes the room. Melissa is wonderful to work with. She takes care of all of the details and was at our home to supervise when the furniture and rug were delivered. We very much enjoy working with her and plan to continue to work with her on updating our kitchen and other rooms in the house. She is obviously a very experienced designer who loves fabrics, textures, and colors, is detail-oriented, and runs a well-managed business. I am so thankful I selected her as our designer.

Melisa has transformed our home. Redecorating and even redesigning our office, mud room, living room, portico, and family room. She can think creatively about use of space, works to find a design style appealing to your preferences, pays attention to detail, is easy to communicate with, and works till the last part of the job is perfect. Melissa was so helpful as we downsized from a large single family home to our new townhouse. We were able to use some of our old pieces, mixing in with new. We love everything she helped us choose. Our home has a lovely look, calming neutrals with some pops of color on pillows. I would definitely use her again and highly recommend her design company! She was easy to work with!

This is the second time we have worked with Melissa and are extremely happy with the results. We were looking to update our first floor which included window treatments, reupholstering furniture, new hardwood floors and staircase. Melissa suggested we change our wall colors and it created a dramatic new look. She was creative, thoughtful and fun to work with on both projects. We look forward to working with her in the future.

My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of working with Melissa on our new construction home in Annapolis, MD. Melissa helped us every step of the way, from initial design ideas, all the way to final placement of décor. She was always organized, detailed, and kept the process moving, even when it came to communicating directly with our builder. I cannot say enough good things about Melissa. We hired Melissa to renovate a guest bathroom and complete our family room. Melissa was a pleasure to work with and very professional. We remodeled a kitchen and powder room and redecorated the entire first floor of our house. Me and my wife work full-time and so there was no way we had time to go through all the choices for paint colors, tile, furniture...etc.. Melissa did some simple exercises with us to get a sense of what style we would like, and then she narrowed down the selections for paint and fabrics. I think she definitely captured what we were looking for. It looks fantastic! She has very good taste.

We were in the middle of a kitchen renovation and we wanted the living room and a sitting room off of the kitchen to be updated so that everything flowed and came together. When looking for a designer to help me customize my new home, I was fortunate to find Melissa McLay Interiors on Houzz.com. Melissa was excellent incorporating my existing furniture while choosing new fabrics for window treatments, suggesting paint colors/wallpaper and adding new light fixtures. She did a fabulous job designing a fireplace with bookcases for our new sports bar and guiding me with the purchase of new furniture for this area. During this entire process, I was living in another state. Melissa managed my entire project to perfection. Everything was finished on time and was a completely stress free experience. I highly recommend Melissa. I hired her to help with me with colors, finishes (including counter-tops), fixtures and soft furnishings for a major kitchen remodel. I thought I was pretty savvy on the design front, but when faced with the project myself, I got overwhelmed with choices. I found Melissa to have an uncanny ability to uncover the look I wanted even though I struggled to articulate it. Her taste is impeccable and she has a wealth of resources at her fingertips. She was sensitive to my budget and worked within its constraints. In addition, her attention to small design details really put the finishing touches on my kitchen. Master bathroom was gutted and completely redone. Melissa drew up plans, oversaw the work, and researched all the elements and helped me decide on all aspects - floor tile, bathroom fixtures, paint color, light fittings, wall art etc. Melissa was extremely helpful and listened to our views and our tastes, and came up with a gorgeous bathroom for us. We love our new bathroom and have had many compliments on it. We would definitely like to use Melissa McLay Interiors again in the future.

We hired Melissa to help us with the interior decorating of our home, including: (1) living room decorations/accessories/light fixtures/paint; (2) dining room window treatments/light fixtures/molding; (3) bedroom window treatments/rug/accessories; and (4) entranceway molding/stairrunner/paint. After interviewing two other designers for my master bathroom renovation, I got in touch with Melissa McLay based on some photos of her work I'd seen on her blog. This was a total renovation, not just adding some decorative touches, so I needed someone who could do everything from design to helping with a contractor to choosing all of the materials and finishes. Melissa McLay is a thoughtful, resourceful, and creative professional. She designed our kitchen renovation, solving many problems along the way, and presenting wonderful choices for the aesthetic elements as well as the practical parts of the kitchen.
