Established in 2001, our Chicago-based, full-service interior design team focuses on livable modern and classic design for both residential and commercial interiors. Mia collaborates with her clients to surpass conventional design ideas and to welcome a fresh approach to creating the ideal space. Mia and her crew took the time to learn about my tastes and interests and then took me by the hand--something I needed, for sure--and developed environments that are so warm, comfortable, and perfect for entertaining, relaxing, and working when I must. I hired Mia and her firm earlier in the year to help with the upgrades and furnishings needed for my condo. She was able to take a fairly characterless condo and turn it into a beautiful space to live in. Some of the attributes that made the experience & outcomes extremely positive were: * Mia takes the time to listen and understand her client's design, color preferences, budget etc. * She is incredibly collaborative, has high energy and easy & fun to work with. * She has a roster of extremely professional contractors (lighting, flooring, painters etc) who are able to deliver top quality outcomes. * She and her assistant designer - Robyn are extremely responsive, organized and keep the project moving. * Mia has a great eye for color and her design recommendations are not boxed into cliche designs - The end product is truly unique and a beauty to look at everyday. I am glad I had the opportunity to work with Mia and recommend her strongly!

We hired Mia to re-purpose three rooms, dining room became a parlor, my office became the dining room and the living room became my new office space. Additionally, we gave our powder room a new look. Working with Mia and her staff was a great experience. She listened to our vision for each room and was very attentive to my goals, both financial and design outcome. The primary reason for the project was to have a larger space for formal dining as we entertain often. We are so pleased with the results and have used that new space often. She was a pleasure to work with and her attention to detail was very appreciated. Each room has a personality of its own yet flows well with the rest of the house. Thanks Mia for the beautiful transformation!

I worked closely with Robyn from Mia Rao Design Inc to design / decorate my condo and I can easily say I couldn't have been more pleased. Not only does she have a great eye and impeccable taste, she is a thorough professional, is always on top of things and has great work ethic. She was somehow magically able to make sense of my vague ideas and design around them to create a truly unique look. Every time I look around, I can't help thinking with a huge grin on my face - "Yes, this is exactly how I wanted this place to look". Of'course, at times, she did have to steer me clear of some terrible ideas I had and boy, am I glad she did. Lol. She is extremely talented and knowledgeable and anything she does not already know (doubt there is much), she is able to quickly research. Simply put, I cannot recommend Robyn and Mia Rao Design enough.

Mia and her team were absolutely integral to my major home rehab turning out well. I had a subpar contractor and luckily Mia was there to keep things on track and get the end result I needed. Going into it, I had an idea of what I thought I wanted, but as the project developed I really ended up with something different and much better. The way she guided me allowed that to unfold with just the right amount of steering to keep it all together. It would have been a nightmare without them.

Mia recently transformed my condo into a unique modern but functional space. She incorporated many of my suggestions into the design making me feel like I was part of the design team. Mia as well as the other vendors she subcontracted were always professional, knowledgable, and punctual. I love my new apartment and I loved working with Mia.

As a general contractor for over twenty years, I have collaborated with numerous interior decorators. Mia is by far the most talented and my personal favorite. We used Mia both in our city home and then again when we moved to Highland Park. Mia pushes you to think creatively (otherwise, why hire a designer, really), but does not oversell the idea if you do not love it. A consummate professional, Mia is flexible, friendly and fun.

Mia Rao - a professional, dedicated and talented interior designer stands out alone in her field. My association with Mia goes back to April of 2012. First impressions always mean something, in Mia's case, it was everything. Her desire to offer the highest level of service to her clients shinned through on our first meeting at Ebanista. Mia’s cheerful personality and expert eye for design captured my respect from someone with a God given talent. I am a painting, wallpaper and faux finishing specialists. I have completed many jobs with Mia Rao through he years. She has amazing taste and knows exactly what she is looking for. Her company and employees are very professional and a pleasure to work with. I have never had any issues with any jobs involving Mia.

Mia helped us decorate and update a home we just bought. She helped us with planning and overseeing the construction, including plans for new floors, lighting, and painting. She helped us determine which furniture we should bring to the new home, and helped us place all the pieces and the art. She coordinated all the trades people and helped us choose colors and accessories. Mia has a great personality is a lot of fun to work with. She has great taste and is wonderful with colors and coordinating pieces. She respected our budget and did not push any projects or items above our budget. I recommend her 100%.

We are a workroom and have dealt with Mia on a number of projects. Business to business...A+ timely with paperwork organized professional clear communications and timely responses Designer A+ I can honestly say I have seen 1000's of fabrics and worked on 1000's of pieces. Her taste is impeccable and tailored to each one of her clients but at the same time you could take any piece and put it almost anywhere else and it will look like it was meant to be there as well. Her taste and talents transcend the space she is working on.
