My husband and I were downsizing and purchased a smaller scale house than we had lived in for the past 30 years. Our new home not only needed to full renovation, but most of our furnishings were simply not going to fit. I went searching for a designer to help with the project and was blessed to find Michele on line, drawn in by several of her portfolio photos. What a pleasure! Michele and her team listen, pivot when needed, and yet pushed us a bit out of our comfort zone to "modernize" our more traditional style. The end result is stunning and exactly what we wanted. But what I most appreciated was before we even signed a contract, Michele reviewed our project room by room and presented us with a ballpark budget so we knew what to expect. After that, every proposal came "all in", no hidden costs for shipping, tax, delivery, installation, and other extras that, in my experience, other designers don't mention until they appear on the final bill. There were no surprises except the joy of seeing it all come together. We highly recommend Michele Plachter Design!

Michele and her team were a joy. Patient, creative, responsive and with no ego. Every meeting was upbeat. They were always looking for unique solutions to spaces - whether it was sourcing cat-scratch-proof fabrics or toddler friendly coffee table heights. Very thoughtful. Our finished product is both functional and gorgeous. It doesn't look cookie-cutter or trendy. It's timeless. People walk into our house all the time and tell us it feels like they're in a magazine!

I was fortunate enough to find Michele's design firm online by a google search. I was immediately drawn to the design work she had displayed on her website and the reviews I had read. After meeting with Michele and showing her our house, I knew right away that our tastes aligned and that she knew our sense of style. Throughout our project, she has been extremely professional and helpful. There are no surprises and the work is exceptional and timely. Her ideas are creative and out of the box. Her contractors are also very thorough, professional, trustworthy and reliable. I love how she made our house comfortable, but also classy and sophisticated. I love looking at my beautiful tile wall surrounding our fireplace while watching TV, resting my feet on the acrylic and glass coffee table that has additional seating for guests underneath, and the gorgeous jeweled sconces hanging in my dining room. This is just some of the work she has done for us and the results are amazing! Her assistants, Katelyn and Sarah, are also top notch, very knowledgeable, always accessible, and a joy to work with. I just asked Michele to help design some other rooms in our house and I can't wait to see the result. I highly recommend Michele Plachter Design!

My husband and I hired Michele to bring color, personality, and all new furnishings to the previously black-and-white living room, dining room, den, and entry foyer of our home. Her ability to help design and procure custom pieces was critical to furnishing the never-standard spaces of a city townhouse. Michele also did a nice job of guiding us to consider a bolder look than we might have adopted on our own.

As anyone knows design is not for the faint of heart. In order to capture your essence and think outside of your comfort zone a great designer is a must. I truly found that in Michele. I, of course, had my own ideas and Michele and her team worked with me with the key pieces I wanted her to design around. Living in a narrow row house is quite the challenge and the final product is amazing. With her sense of design and color and patience a beautiful living space has been created that we will enjoy for many years.

Obviously the project photos speak for themselves and show great evidence that Michele along with her highly qualified support team are indeed at the highest echelon of their profession and offerings. I would like to add that she has that intangible "it factor". That 'thing' that "designers" can't learn in class or even in early experience...you have to be born with it. There really is a genius in her design...it's clear when standing in a space she has just completed. Lastly, working together on a few spaces was easy and natural feeling...mutual respect shared for each others skills.

Michele was invaluable when I purchased my home a couple years ago and needed to bring it into this century. By interior design standards, this was a smaller job, but one sorely needed by a design- and color-challenged bachelor: What to paint the walls? How to rid myself of built-ins that must've seemed like a great idea in the late sixties? Michele gave me lots of things to think about, including the time a needed to sort through my options. She pointed me towards a few colors I would never have thought to pick out - and they turned out to be exactly what I needed. My guests continue to heap praise upon my choices, for which I modestly claim full credit, of course. But it was all Michele. A designer is indispensable unless you want to spend twice as much time sweating the details and finding contractors on your own. I usually have some ideas about what I want, but relatively little about what's actually possible. That's what a good designer can do for you. Michele - and her excellent colleagues at the studio - recently helped me with another project, reminding me of why I like her. Next year, we'll try a bathroom renovation. I recommend her without qualification.

We had the good fortune of working with Michele Plachter Design. She recently transformed our entire condo into an incredible living space that went beyond our expectations. Always listening to our ideas, honoring our thoughts of what we desired the finishing product to be, she also gently pushed us slightly beyond our comfort zone, to create "wow" factors where it perhaps would've been more ho-hum. Michele used her talented, artistic sense of design and knowledge in everything from window treatments, furniture, floor coverings, lighting and paint choices in every area of our home....kitchen, bathrooms, living and dining areas. Delivery of items went smoothly and generally all deadlines were met. In areas of communication, she is well-organized and competent, always keeping you in the loop via email, text or phone. If any problem arose, she handled it immediately and efficiently. Additionally, she provided a construction team (ask for Mario!!!) that made our 8 month project seamless and actually, ridiculously pleasant! Our Happy Factor would never have been a 10 out of 10 without her expertise. Thank you Michele!

I worked with MPD to finish spaces (living room, dining room and foyer) in my home that were only partially completed. Michele very quickly understood what I wanted and offered an amazing plan to get the job completed in a way I felt comforatable with. She was very respectful of my budget and I was very impressed with the way she was able to offer me options without it being overwhelming. It was very easy to communicate with her team throughout the process. The final result is amazing and I love how the spaces were transformed.
