Milana Designs Inc

I am a general contractor and have worked with Milana on a number of projects in the past 10 years or so. Melania is different than most designers and that she not only has outstanding design skills but she has an engineering, analytical, background as well as hands on construction experience. This combination is unique and as a result Milana preparation plans and specifications are considerably more thorough then her peers. Why is this important, I will explain, but the bottom line is you will save money and time on your project working with her. Designers are typically very good at conceptualizing project ideas, but fall far short when it comes time to put pen to paper and produce a set of drawings that thoroughly encapsulate all the fine details and information it takes to actually build a project. As a general contractor the price I give a client is only as good as the drawings I'm working with. Oftentimes the drawings lack sufficient detail for me to capture the true costs that will eventually occur and as a result we end up having quite a few change orders, which not only add costs, but also slow down the project. Designing as you go is not ideal for the contractor or the homeowner and while it it is impossible to avoid any changes at all, I find that working with Milana greatly minimizes change orders and disruptions. This results in better cost and scheduling control, in other words your project will be completed faster at a lower cost. I think it's safe to say that for every dollar you spend on Milana, you'll save a dollar or two in change orders.

We had Milana design our Master Bath and Bedroom. It was very easy to work with her; she knew from the start what I envisioned for my new bath and she came with the suggestion of the material and colors after our first visit. The remodeling was finished a few months ago. We are so happy! Her attention to details and collaboration with our General Contractor made the construction very smooth and quick. I would definitely use her services again for the remodeling of our kitchen.

Milana arrived somewhat late in the design process, but helped me choose the stone for floors and the tile for the walls of the bath project and contributed to the layout of the mirrors and sinks. The placement of the wall tile behind the tub was her idea, as was the Moroccan tile cutout between the mirrors. She had a different idea for the stone behind the sauna that I didn't understand until she came after it was done :}! It was a difficult project, but she was not that involved and was not the project manager.

Milana saved us. We had a very unexpected (and stressful) kitchen renovation due to water damage and needed help with the layout design. She was gracious, creative, and supportive. She was able to help us cut corners where it was possible to keep the costs down at a time when all prices were rising quickly. The kitchen turned out better than we could have ever imagined.

I really enjoyed working with Milana. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable in her field, she was efficient, professional, and a perfectionist. What impressed me the most was that she was willing to think out of the box, therefore coming up with unique and breathtaking designs. She listened to my needs/ideas and executed them perfectly, beyond what I thought possible. I highly recommend Milana and look forward to working with her soon again.

Milana was helping us redesign our Master Bathroom when we discovered she had designed our favorite bathroom at the SF Decorator Showcase. We were so thrilled with her sleek design of our bathroom that we asked her to help us with our downstairs powder room. Extremely knowledgeable and with a sharp eye, Milana works hard to give her clients what they need and goes above and beyond. She is wonderful to work with; even the fabricator we're working with sings her praises, as do we!
