Molly Frey Design

Molly designed and managed the entirety of a tear down project for our family. We went from a cinder block construction one-story ranch to an expansive modern beachy home. Molly worked through rough design , detailed design, construction drawings, actual construction, and project completion - along the way partnering and leading the architect and our contractor. The process was seamless from beginning to end. She came to the project with great ideas that were practical for our family. Molly has a great balance between the aesthetics of design and practical use of space. Molly served as the primary point of contact for us with both the architect and the contractor. She has great instincts with regard to moving through required decisions on her own and knowing when to bring us in. Molly is truly an outstanding designer capable of large and complex projects. In addition to her talents in design she is a pleasure to work with - highly organized, efficient, fun, easy going, has incredible attention to detail, and holds all involved to very high standards.

We hired Molly to design and supervise the renovation of our home, and working with her has been fantastic. Maintaining the character and integrity of the existing property while improving the flow and adding modern amenities was both a structural and design challenge, but Molly was able to solve for everything on our wish list and incorporate additional ideas. From project management to kitchen design to fabric choices her creativity, organization and attention to detail transformed our home. She's also a pleasure to work with - relaxed, confident, efficient - and the process felt like a great balance between her knowledge and recommendations and our own budget and ideas.

We have had the pleasure of working with Molly on two separate occasions. Our first collaboration was an exterior mini facelift in the form of many custom architectural details that transformed our house from a bland cookie cutter colonial to a home that people often stop to admire. Molly helped capture our initial vision for the project, and elevated it while still staying true to our stylistic preferences. After our first positive experience we knew we wanted to hire Molly for our kitchen/dining room redesign. She carefully came up with several kitchen/dining room layouts that overhauled the space from dark and dated to fresh and airy. She also has a keen sense of connecting indoor and outdoor living spaces. We now have a unique kitchen layout that works for our families specific needs while still being beautiful. Although the design is more contemporary, I think Molly's classic design will stand the test of time and won't feel dated anytime soon.

After my wife and I consulted with various architects and contractors we were very frustrated by the lack of vision and proposed expense of our large kitchen project. We then asked Molly for her thoughts and what resulted was a revelation. Molly's results are obvious to anyone who looks at her jobs. What is harder to describe is the genesis of a project and how it proceeds to the finish. At the risk of sounding too effusive, Molly is the most talented and professional person we have hired. The chances of us working with anyone else in the future are zero.

The minute we bought our home 7 years ago, I knew one day we would do work and renovate. The house sat on a small lot, had a quirky layout and design, and yet we loved our neighborhood and knew that we never wanted to move. Figuring out how to turn this drab house into something special was both daunting and hard to visualize. This house had no charm, no curb appeal, average construction and limited land. When we found Molly, we told her that we couldn't afford to tear the house down, and would need to work with what we had - which was a major challenge. Molly's ability to listen to our ideas, infuse her own vision, and create what I would bet is one of the most outstanding transformations to date, is a true testament to her talents. Our wish list included : curb appeal, a more useful dining area, an extra bath, and some interest! Molly was there every step of the way. Meeting regularly with both our contractors and all the subs, Molly was able to ensure that her vision was protected and executed to perfection. Not only did Molly design our house from an architectural standpoint, but she also was integral in helping us with our interior decorating. My husband jokes that he can barely make any life decisions without consulting with Molly - she has become someone we admire, trust and respect deeply. As you drive through our town, I see other projects Molly has worked on - all of which are beautiful to look at, and show her ability to not only build an original masterpiece, but also take an existing sub-par home and turn it into something out of a magazine - all within your budget. We built a new house and hired Molly to design all of the bathrooms, the kitchen and all of the interior trim details. Molly has a wonderful, fresh approach to design and really grasps how people live in their spaces. We built a house on the coast and Molly's designs created perfect layouts and uses of space. Throw in her wonderful eye for beautiful detail and we ended up with the house of our dreams!
