AFTER GRADUATING WITH A DEGREE IN ART HISTORY FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA, NICHOLE MOVED TO WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY
AS DESIGN ASSISTANT TO THE SENIOR EDITOR-AT-LARGE FOR TRADITIONAL HOME MAGAZINE.
AFTER NEARLY TWO DECADES IN THE EAST COAST DESIGN WORLD, WHERE SHE MOST RECENTLY HELD THE POSITION OF SENIOR VISUAL MANAGER FOR THE LIFESTYLE RETAILER, ANTHROPOLOGIE, NICHOLE MOVED BACK TO IOWA AND SIMULTANEOUSLY BEGAN PURSUING HER MASTER'S DEGREE IN INTERIOR DESIGN AT IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY AND BUILDING NSDG FROM HER KITCHEN TABLE. SEVEN YEARS LATER NSDG HAS GROWN INTO A TALENTED TEAM THAT MANAGES PROJECTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND DIRECTLY SERVICES THE DES MOINES AND LAS VEGAS AREAS.
NICHOLE HOLDS A BA IN ART HISTORY, UNIVERSITY OF IOWA AND AN MFA WITH HONORS IN INTERIOR DESIGN, IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY.
SHE IS THE AUTHOR OF, THE ANTHROPOLOGIE EFFECT AND GUEST LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR DESIGN AT IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY.

My first project, flipping a property, was on time and on budget. The value they added far exceeded the price I paid for their services.

My husband and I were in the process of having our dream home built. All was fine until we came to the point of picking out paint, lighting, counters and flooring. At this point we felt very overwhelmed, with the numerous decisions that needed to be made. We than called Nichole Staker Design. Within a week of our first meeting with Nichole she returned with many beautiful designs and ideas for our home. Nichole and her associate made building our home fun again, and her design ideas made our dream home come true.

NSD helped me transform my old world rent stabilized studio on the Lower East Side to a fabulous space that feels fresh, welcoming, elegant and modern!
1. She understood my budget and found options for things I loved that were affordable.

3. She was able to visualize the layout of my studio and even showed me various renderings of what things would look like.

We hired Nichole Staker and her crew to redesign and update our main level (office, dining room, living room, and powder room). She also pulled together our basement by updating pillows, tables and pictures. This is the first time we had worked with a designer so we were unsure of what to expect. We have two young kids and a dog so our main priority was durability and practicality. After being in our house for over 5 years it needed a major refresh. In the end, Nichole gave us a modern look while still being practical. We wanted to make sure our house didn't match everyone else so for the most part that goal was achieved. If this is your first time working with a designer, I listed some tips below to keep in mind as you work through the process:
1. It takes quite a bit of time to get pieces of furniture in so be sure to have some patience 2. Watch your budget as you'll hit it before you realize
3. State your expectations and don't waiver during the process
4. Ask questions if you don't understand
5. Have fun and trust the professionals!

Nicole Staker Design were contracted to update our kitchen, dining and living room, hallway and complete bathroom overhaul. With her expertise and concise manner that she worked, it showed in the end product. Not only were all of her contractors complete wonderful people who fully cared for the end product, but they were very respectible, careful of the surroundings and always on time. Because of Nicole's persistent request for quality and her eye for what is right and not right, our house turned into something much more than we'd ever dreamed of having. It's absolutely beautiful and they stayed well within our budget. A huge congrats also needs to go to Brian Anderson Construction who performed the remodeling. Fantastic job and very insightful to the customers needs. We would highly advise anyone who is looking for a designer and a contractor to use Nicole Staker and Brian Anderson. Excellent people and extremely high caliber work ethics that shows in the end result.
