We have worked with Nicholas John over 15 years across two properties (two major renovations and handful of smaller design projects). How we met is instructive. We interviewed a short list of strong designers, and Nick by the far the youngest of the group at that time, was the only designer to identify a challenge in our floor plan, and he came back with not only great options, but a plan to make that challenging feature a unique showcase in the room. It turned out exceptionally. Nick has an exceptional eye, especially for the the intersection of architecture (major home redesign), interior design, color, and furniture. Nick accounts for the practical aspects of how you’ll live in the space; has identified several contractors in his network who were all exceptional and Nick’s a pleasure to work with. And when contractors run into some small challenge mid way thru a project, as happens, while some get a little flustered, Nick’s among the very best at creatively improvising to make that challenge an opportunity at the very moment a decision is needed.

Nickolas John Interiors helped us change our house from the country style home that we bought to the modern style home that we wanted. He has a wonderful ability to see what will work in the space that you have. He helped us create a one of kind built in TV area and a unique surround for a fireplace. He changed all the light fixtures in our home, found bedroom and living room furniture, and even did a bathroom remodel. I love so many of the aspects of our house. But the most significant yet subtle change was the paints he chose for our walls and ceilings. We have many colors in our house but they all flow perfectly from room to room emphasizing the parts of the house we like and de-emphasizng the qualities we don't like. He was easy to work with and patient when we offered our suggestions. People compliment us on our home all the time.

Commented: Choosing wood floor colorTypically I advise a shade or 2 darker when going with a room that has a lot of wood in it. The slight but not over powering contrast will provide interest and dimension while matching it will keep it...
