We’ve worked with Kurt for years. He helped us transform our house into a beautifully decorated and comfortable home for our large family. He listened to our needs and made suggestions based on those needs. We had a large project spanning a long period of time. He was not pushy, but was patient with us and our time line. He is kind, personable and fun to work with.

I've known Kurt for many years both as coworker and client. He has a great eye and sense of design. I have always been impressed with the way he considers his client's family and lifestyle foremost while creating the perfect mix of practicallty and style.

Kurt has made a huge difference with my project! He took over completely redoing a condo to set it up for sell. Kurt has been there every moment to oversee all the repairs and paintings, including a new major water leak! He has moved all the art, rugs, furniture & books several times and collected tons of trash and disposed of it. I would not have been able to do this without him. Thanks Kurt!!

Kurt Hakansson of Hakansson Design Group was a great help with our design and renovation project. Our goal was to renovate what was a very old and neglected bathroom and bedroom in what was originally a maid’s quarters. The bathroom was a particular challenge being only 33 s/f. Every decision and every fraction of an inch counted. In this tiny space we were able to create a jewel box of a bathroom with beautiful marble mosaics and a comfortable Japanese soaking tub. What was formally the bedroom is now a great yoga space and dressing room. It's my oasis. In addition to his design help Kurt worked well with our contractor to ensure the successful execution of the project. I've enjoyed out time working together. It really was a great collaboration.

Working with Kurt Hakansson is a treasure. Great listener and observer of personalities and lifestyles. Great editor, and unique color sense. Innovative at combining old and new so your special pieces have pride of place. The result: open, clean lines, sophisticated, calm space where everyone feels welcome and at ease.

Kurt was an invaluable help when I moved from my family home to a condo with very different spaces. He had a hand in every aspect, from advice on the newly installed floors to the placement of the recessed lights. When the electricians were here installing the lights, I was not sure of their placement. I called Kurt and he came right over. I needed help with choosing new furnishings for the living room. He pre-shopped so that when we went out, all I had to do was sit in the furnishings to make sure they were comfortable - then choose what I liked and move on to fabrics. Kurt helped me find a fresh look that incorporated a few of my favorite pieces and blended them into a more upscale look. I am thrilled with the results. Kurt's wealth of knowledge and experience, his ability to keep me on track while always respecting my input and wishes, made the experience a true delight. Not to mention, we started the end of August and I hosted Thanksgiving.

I am totally pleased with the results of the remodeling of my condo. I had some of my own ideas and Kurt was great at melding my own ideas with his to make the project a great success. I wanted to be hands on in the process and Kurt was very open to this although in hindsight if I knew what I know now it could have easily been a complete handoff to Kurt. Kurt was able to nudge me away from poor design ideas and bring an insight to the process which I did not have. I would definitely use Kurt again if I had another property to upgrade. In conclusion he made the whole process stressless and fun.

I have worked on numerous projects for many years with Mark, Kurt and Louie and it is always a pleasure. They are professional, courteous, and very talented. Their sub-contractors are also very accommodating and easy to work with. I am always happy to be involved in anything which they manage.

We were friends of Kurt's before the remodel. We are still friends (in fact, better friends) after the work was done! :-) During the planning stage, he had a knack for figuring out what we wanted and presented options in line with our tastes, needs, and budget. Kurt communicated very effectively throughout the project. There was great attention paid to the details and consistent follow-up. During the course of construction, his team handled whatever came up. In a few instances, we changed direction along the way and they helped us figure out what wasn't working and we moved forward. We've got a finished kitchen and family room that we love.

If you are planning a renovation project at your home, this is the place to start. Kurt helped me with a whole house renovation to repair catastrophic water damage. He worked with me to choose everything including fixtures and finishes, and to bring it all together within my time constraints and budget. His guidance along the way kept me from making what would have been costly mistakes and I am so happy with the look we achieved. Every specialist that they sent to my home was pleasant and professional, and the rapport that they had with Kurt, keeping him informed of all of the inevitable decisions and adjustments that have to made on a project of this scale was impressive. Clearly, his availability to them, and to me, led to the success that I enjoy in my home today. I highly recommend working with this team.

It's been one of the best experiences working with Haddad Hakansson Design Studio. We specifically worked with Kurt and it's been amazing. He works fast, efficiently, has a great sense of design, listens to us and our preferences incredibly well and is great to chat with. No matter where we live in the future, I hope to take Kurt and the Haddad Hakansson Design Studio with me.

I can’t say enough great things about working with Kurt and Jaye at Haddad Hakansson Design Studio. I hired Kurt and Jaye at the beginning of this year to help me furnish my new South End condo from scratch. I had never worked with a designer before and was afraid of picking someone who would dismiss my input and blow my budget. Kurt and Jaye are the exact opposite of this. From the beginning, they have done an incredible job of listening to my feedback and incorporating it into their ideas and suggestions for my space. At the same time, they have challenged me to expand my style in entirely new ways – like installing a big, beautiful chandelier for my living room and buying these fabulous zebra-backed dining chairs – and have raised the sophistication of my space to a level that I never could have achieved on my own. I wanted my space to be “cozy, but sophisticated” and they nailed it, while integrating my preferences and personal taste every step of the way. Most importantly, they have always been sensitive to my budget. I have never, once felt pressured to spend more than I am comfortable spending. In fact, they have been very proactive in suggesting great ways to spread out the spending in a way that felt comfortable to me but still made my home feel beautiful and finished until I took on the next phase of work. Finally, I should add that each and every contractor and other service provider that Kurt and Jaye have engaged to do work in my home has been incredibly professional and done an excellent job – from the painters, to the electrician, to the contractor who weatherproofed my deck. Kurt and Jaye have taken meticulous care in overseeing the process, and it’s been such a relief to come home and find these projects magically done! I am not exaggerating when I say that every single day that I walk into my house, I smile, sit on my elegant, comfortable new couch and think how much I love living here. I can’t recommend HHDS highly enough!
