Cheryl was a wonderful partner for us as we figured out what we wanted from our open plan “blank slate” as we moved into our first home. Cheryl took the time to chat with us and brainstorm options, ultimately coming up with a layout that hadn’t even occurred to me — immediately I could see it was by far the best use of our small multi-functional living/dining room. Knowing that Cheryl was very focused on family-friendly design was extremely reassuring to me and paid dividends through many tiny thoughtful touches that have improved our enjoyment of our space. Now that we are in lockdown, I am even more thankful that we took the time with Cheryl to make our space exactly what we wanted and needed it to be.

We are a local builder/remodeler and although this is our first project working with Cheryl, as the client hired her independently, I cannot say enough about her. Cheryl has more than exceeded my expectations for a designer. We have a very large project and I knew at the outset that I couldn’t handle all of the details myself. She has been a fantastic listener and is able to take my big picture ideas of how I want a room to feel and translate that into reality. Plus, she has been ensuring that she is two steps ahead of the project to make sure that there are no delays in construction. What drew me to Cheryl at first was that she has an eye for practical design that fits growing families. I feel strongly about not sacrificing functionality for design and she has done a great job mixing the two together. Most importantly of all, Cheryl has been able to manage the often disparate input of my family, our architect and builder and still turn our space into something amazing. Cheryl has come in transformed my children's room and our very chaotic entryway and dining room into more elegant, functional space. She's a gifted designer and also provides a calm, gentle presence when she's in our home. My kids love seeing her and she managed to give my daughter a sense of pride and involvement when setting up her new 'big girl' bed. Cheryl is by far one of the most professional, caring, and creative designers I have ever worked with. She put together our daughter's room in a moments notice, as the plan was to wait until her arrival in January, but she had other plans, and arrived 7 weeks early. Having a child in the NICU is stressful enough, but then trying to pull together a nursery on top of that was more than we could handle. Cheryl held our hands through the whole process and stayed on budget. We were able to bring home our daughter to a beautiful and elegant nursery, all thanks to Cheryl!

Cheryl was amazing to work with and helped us methodically think through the transformation of spaces in our small two-bedroom apartment in preparation for our little one. From redesigning and overseeing the installation of our entryway and nursery closets, to helping us redesign and furnish our entryway and living room with optimal storage but incredibly tasteful design, to helping us choose the perfect rug for our living room (we had been on the hunt for years!), to hanging shelves, managing furniture assembly, going out of her way to come to our apartment and handle the delivery of furniture; Cheryl’s overall client service, attentiveness to our needs and goals, thoughtfulness, and execution were second to none. We worked with Cheryl for several months before and after moving into our home in Jamaica Plain. We originally hired her to help advise us on paint colors and furniture choices. When we ended up having to do substantial unforeseen work, including gutting an entire floor of our house and our basement to deal with mold, and the work we decided to do expanded to include plumbing, rewiring, new plastering, and carpentry, Cheryl jumped in to coordinate everything and essentially take over the role of general contractor. She was terrifically organized, was able to source solid sub-contractors, and she was able to shepherd the project along to get us into the house as quickly as possible. We would recommend her wholeheartedly for design, consulting, and project management, even when the scope of the project might grow.

I've worked with Cheryl from ROI Design on a couple of projects. First and foremost, she has a wonderful personality and is very easy to get along with. She's also very professional and her instructions on the job details, colors, product specifications, etc. are very simple and clear. Her patience and listening skills show even after a few minutes of interaction. And last, but not least, her intuition in the decorating process and her suggestions produce very appealing final results. I hired Cheryl from ROI Design to work on a design plan for several rooms in our family's new home. As an older but remodeled brownstone, the space presented many challenges - no natural entryway or coat closet, odd corners, tiny bathrooms, longer/narrow layout, etc. Despite these challenges, Cheryl consistently delivered on ROI's mission of "interior design & organization for busy, growing families". She provided guidance and options catered to our likes vs. our budget. She prompted us to think about and see our space in new ways. She recommended well-designed pieces that while pleasing to the eye also met our more functional needs. Example: where we have no dedicated dining room (ah, the joys of open space living), a well-placed (and gorgeous!) banquette and extension table has allowed us to make the most of the space we do have. She also recommended the best painters, closet designers, etc - which was well-worth the time saved for us to have to do all that research ourselves. I'd recommend her based on the compliments we get on our family room chandelier alone!
